At the 36:00 mark, Gary Lachman was indeed one of the first bass players in the punk band Blondie, replacing Fred Smith when he left to join Tom Verlaine in the band Television, but the footage you showed is not the line-up that included Gary. That line-up featured Nigel Harrison on bass. Gary can be seen playing with Blondie in footage from the music videos of In The Flesh, X-Offender, and In The Sun, as well as can be heard on the debut album entitled simply Blondie. Although he left by the second Blondie album called Plasti Letters, the band still recorded one of Gary's songs for it, entitled I'm Always Touched By Your Presence, Dear. The song includes lyrics expressing Gary's interest in all these occult sort of things, with references to destiny, consciousness, ESP, theosophy, REMs, entities, levitation, and other such supernatural ideas. It was a hit single in England before Blondie had hits in thier native USA. Gary went by the stage name Gary Valentine at the time, and after he left Blondie he continued with music for a little while, first with a solo single The First One b/w Tomorrow Belongs To You, and then with his own band The Know, which you might say was in the same PowerPop genre that was soon to be popularized and commercialized by bands like The Knack, The Romantics, and J. Geils Band, although you could argue The Know were doing that style earlier, and Gary's own "skinny tie" look and style influenced all those people. When The Know broke up he was briefly in a musical project called Fire Escape. After rock'n'roll Gary committed himself to being an author full-time, and is now regarded as an expert in the history of mystical esoterica. He has written many books and articles on these occult topics, including major works on Allister Crowley and Helena Blavatsky.

i didnt notice any issue with music volume; i think the issue is what we in business call "Operator Error" . Anyway, regarding the first episode on the book of Thoth; The whole bull theme in religion and myth can usually be traced all the way back to antiquity, where you find various cults of bull worship. The most prominent being the Canaanite worship of Baal, who himself was depicted as a bull-headed man. Hollow idols of Baal would be set ablaze until the statue was capable to burn the offerings placed within it. many offerings could be made, bu the highest of them all, which was most likely to gain favor with Baal, was a living child. the Canaanites were a subset of the Phoenician empire in the Levant. the Phoenicians arent well discussed, but it turns out that they were probably one of the earliest know internationalist, who sailed the known word, trading from port to port. There are cities in Italy that were founded as Phoenician outposts. with trade comes culture, and knowing that to be the case, one can start to see the lineage of the ancient bull cults throughout many societies. the names and stories change to meet the local market, but the core remains, in some form or fashion. in many instances throughout western civilization we see this residue in the form of bull iconography, whether its a religion over here, or a myth over there, they all tug at the same yarn.
@AncientWildTV28 күн бұрын
really enjoyed the insights in this video, very well put together! i’ve always found the mythology around the Book of Thoth fascinating, but some people argue it’s more of a myth than a real artifact. what do you all think? is it worth the hype or just a story?

Western civilization of the 18th & 19th centuries quest to organize the past actually lies & should be thankful to Rome . Rome absorbed all things Greek ,some believe the total destruction of Greek culture & civilization was due to the Greek victory over Troy . Aeneas - a surviving son of king Priam escaped to settle in Rome & founded the kingdom , eventually the Romans destroy or absorb Greek ideas, findings with a Roman twist. Greece never went into Europe. Their invasions focused on the Persian empire as their great adversary & Egypt they conquered as far as the Punjab in North India & modern day Afghanistan & after Alexander's death ,Greece never rose again , it's classics , ideas etc all found way towards central Asia & parts of the last periods of Rome. Constantinople,the Greek orthodox church through Russia excluded by the Roman Catholic church the Greek ideas re enter thru the Renaissance period but their civil engineering, laws etc thru Rome entered & changed Europe forever so to say western civilization is based on ancient Greece without adding Rome as the carrier is really a half truth.
