I am now 60 years old and gave birth to three of my four children at home with a domicillary midwife in attendance. After my first birth experience in hospital, my husband and I decided never again. Even to this day I remember my three home births so well. They were wonderful experiences, birthing on my terms in the comfort and familiarity of my own home. I feel very lucky to have been able to labour and birth easily.

@@jessicamoore1314 it is sad that it has to be this way, but many people that give birth at home often say it went too fast and that it wasn't planned. Just to not get shamed by people. Because giving birth unassisted is frowned upon, even though statistics show that homebirths are safer and less prone to complications. Our situation was a little in between, both planned and not.. We didn't make the desision to stay home until the last minute.

@@Talasbuan I'm so glad to see such a good outcome for you and your baby, I really admire your hard work and warmth as a family, as well the beautiful photography of where you live. As a mother and a medic, however, I don't think it is responsible to say that home births are 'safer and less prone to complications'. More complicated cases are treated in hospital, including home births that have gone wrong. Historically (and in the developing world) birth is a leading cause of injury and death for mothers and babies, and anyone deciding to give birth at home should be appraised of all the facts, including important risks like postpartum haemorrhage or hypoxic brain injuries in babies who are deprived of oxygen during difficult births. Another KZbin channel I enjoy, as well as your own, is Danielle Jones, whose video is worth a watch too for another perspective - kzbin.info/www/bejne/m36aoWqPo6dnbqM Congratulations on your lovely son!

@@zwhx8608 - That was certainly true of my son's birth. I could have died due to hemorrhage. He sustained a spontaneous pneumothorax. I was very depressed due to expectations I had of a "natural" birth. Women need ALL the info, not just pretty videos where all goes well.
@zwhx86084 жыл бұрын
@@tracy7612 Thank you for understanding what I was trying to say. I don't want to detract from how lovely this video was at all but, while many home births go well, when they go wrong they can go very wrong indeed. It's important to be really appraised of all the facts and risks and not be too swayed by a vision or ideal of how birth can be. The right balance of technology and appreciation of the simple, beautiful things in life seems to be at the core of this channel, where the wonderful imagery of the Swedish countryside is brought to us by drone and shared online. Safe birth is so important that we should feel able to invite technology in to the point where it helps us and not to the point where it makes us uncomfortable, and most midwife-led units understand this totally (I realise this varies across the world though, and not everywhere has embraced this yet).

My husband and I read The Husband-Coached Childbirth, and I read so much research as well as Ina May videos/ all the evidence on having your partner there with you, supporting you... It was very helpful. :) We went from 2 induced hospital births with interventions that left it painful for me to walk/sit/heal, and baby separated for hours without my true consent/knowledge because of their overdosing me with too many drugs, to a natural hospital birth and then 2 homebirths...last one unassisted. Coming from this background, I am so happy for you that you could experience this beautiful, healthy, joyful birth at home.❤️

I subscribed a few days ago. I am a retired out of hospital midwife in the state of New Hampshire in the USA. I am in the Vermont and Massachusetts area and was a very busy home birth midwife with birth center privileges. I also had very good relationships with 13 area hospitals. I served Mennonite’s, local couples from every walk of life. I have been off the grid in the mountains of VT and NH. What amazing parents you both are…elimination communication and woolen clothing, all of it is very popular amount young thoughtful parents and just amazes me how well it all works. In the USA parents who stay home without a midwife (who is trained and carries medications) as I did, are called Unassisted Birthers. I have filled out their paperwork for them and even provided breech education to the couples when asked in order to remove the fears. It really is a choice of where you want to be. I know because all four of my sons were born in hospitals where My own labors had to be augmented because my lack of feeling safe there sent enough adrenaline to stop me each time. I wish I had known and once I did I dedicated myself to parental choices until I developed a heart condition at 44 years old. It really is a body function and I must say when things were not good there were always inclines from the parents or myself that I learned to heed to. I never lost a baby or a mommy and I always stayed with my mommas until the baby was established eating, including those who needed transport for cesareans most often for maternal or fetal fatigue. I am so glad to have found you and was enjoying your videos before coming to this one. Thank you for sharing what sounds like a normal cozy birth to me. Oh yes and I always cleaned up the birth areas, got the laundry started when possible, and brought the new parents a meal in bed while they get acquainted with their new little one…best feeling in the world to head home while they remain in their bed with full bellies.

Beautiful birth story! Thank you for sharing. I have four children and had a home birth with three of them. I had a birth at a birthing center with my first child because my husband feared a home birth. I live in the US and we have holistic birthing centers in my state as an alternative to a traditional hospital. While I was still afforded a natural birth with my first child, there was no comparison between birthing in a center versus home birthing. They still took my daughter several times for nurse checks and I couldn’t sleep because they came in all night checking my blood pressure, drawing blood, etc. During my home births I was far more comfortable - sleeping in my own bed, able to hold and nurse my babies without interruption and just feel the peacefulness of being home. I’m very happy for you that your birth went well and your son entered the world into the arms of such caring and exceptional parents. He is absolutely adorable!

After having two sons in hospital I wanted to have my third at home and did so 20 years ago, in the US. Their father and I are both physicians. It certainly wasn't necessary to be, but it was comforting to have had that experience and training under our belts though our specialty is psychiatry. Sadly home births in the US are still rare and women still clamor for unnecessary medical interventions when the time for delivery comes. But it is the mother's decision and we can just keep offering support and education and good examples, as we do with breastfeeding. If you live in the industrialized ("first world") countries, chances are you have never seen a natural birth at home. It is the reality that most of us (myself included) have never seen what was in fact the normal way to give birth two or three generations ago. Pregnancy and birth are not illnesses (however, certain things can go wrong and create illnesses) but the medicalization of birth in the industrialized countries has definitely changed they way we understand life and made us lose touch of some of the most fundamental things about how we live. I had my first in the hospital and my second at home. Being able to move around with the second made it so much better. I also got to have a water birth which I highly recommend.

In our country (the netherlands) Home birth is not frowned upon. And you talking about this entire experience is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. What a wonderful little snugglebug you have. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 I am so happy for you that you got your home birth! And congratulations on the little lambs too.

Beautiful! Congratulations! Birth is one of the most miraculous and in a way mundane occurrences! I had my baby, a boy, a little over 7 month ago too. He is my 4th baby and 3rd unassisted birth. To think we were yelling babies into this world around the same time of year in vastly different places. You have a lovely family. ❤️

What a wonderful couple of parents. If they had had the advice and support of a midwife the tear could have been avoided. The system is the same in Hungary I believe. If you’re not keen on hospital you get no help and you can be prosecuted. I speak as a retired midwife and know the days around birth and how it goes stay in your mind for ever.

Congratulations on the birth of your son. It is a wonderful thing to experience. I enjoyed labouring and birthing all 3 of my children. 🤗

THANK YOU sooo much for sharing your inner most thoughts with all of us. To me, your labour was long, but then, since I can sleep through anything, I slept through mine until I was almost fully dilated. 😲😂🤣 Only 5 hours later once I'd reached the tiny Horgen Spital in Zurich, our son greeted us and the world. 🙏😍🤗 He is now 32yrs old and remains my only son, whilst his Dad has another son from an earlier marriage at only 20yrs. Take care you THREE and enjoy every moment of this MIRACLE! 🤗😍💖

So happy for you!!! I just finished reading that book myself. We're preparing for a home birth in 10 weeks-possibly unassisted because of the virus. My two previous births were in the hospital, and they were dreadful. I'm very excited to finally take this process into my own hands and let my body do what's natural. Plus, my sons will be here to witness and "help". I'm sorry the Swedish system is so medicalized. We may not get health insurance here in the US, but we do have the right to choose how to birth-if you have the money. Keep up the great work!!

Beautiful family! I had 2 homebirths. The posterior birth was more difficult, but I was still able to deliver her at home! Blessings on your little one.

Congratulations.! In such a difficult time, you did it your way. It is such a special moment when you bring life into the world, a vunerable being, untainted by anything and you realise responsibility and one day that child will say mamma or pappa and put their arms around you. Beautiful!

Congrats!!! And I just have to say that you did an awesome job. And your strength and courage shined through. It was an amazing birth from start to finish. And it looked like you were the Dr. and the patient. I loved that you were the one in control of everything from the labor to the birth and delivery. I don't know how you did it while in so much pain. I know the pain 100% because I have 4 children (all natural births) and never had anything for pain. Once I went into labor with all of my girls, from the first contraction to the baby or babies being born was 4 hours or less. My longest Labor was 4 hrs and my shortest labor was between 60 to 90 mins (1hr to 1.5hrs). Oohh yea, he is the cutest baby...stay safe and good luck on being 1st time parents..... You are going to do awesome. .
