This is a very good example of 'hard work pays'. You are inspiring me to get started on other parts of my garden....

Small and steady really does win the race. Just consistency and pushing on. It works miracles.

The property looks so nice and nice and neat. Cant wait to see how lovely the duck pond will look. I can see the vision. Slowly slowly catches the worm. The arc 😂 you referred to that the beans are growing on are called arch just so you know for future reference. Keep up the hard work.

Thanks Susan. 😂 sometimes the words slip off the tongue when we get on the camera 😂😂. The vision is slowly coming together, there is so much to do but we are so happy to see it all unfold.

You guys are living the best life.. I'm trying to do that but in a very small space ❤
@millennialhomesteader6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much. Fortunately you can always start in a small space. The goal is to become more sustainable, if you can grow more food, can or preserve etc it’s a good start.

Those paving can become a headache if grass and weeds start growing through,, if you don't want to use Roundup a good alternative is a gas burner or what my mom used to do is boiled water and poured it over the weeds, worked very well too.
@millennialhomesteader7 ай бұрын
Thanks so much. That’s a nice natural method. We also ready that soap, salt and baking soda mix works well too.

I've seen other KZbinrs clipping the wings feathers with a pair of scissors. Apparently it keeps the chickens from flying out. Maybe you could try it
@millennialhomesteader7 ай бұрын
Thanks so much. I am definitely going to try that, although Audry is not keen on making any body changes to her babies 😂

Thanks. It’s kind of crazy to think we always are so hard on ourselves for not being further than where we had planned. It helps to have perspective and be happy about small wins.

Looking good! Clip the one side of your chicken's wings and then they won't be able to fly over.
@millennialhomesteader7 ай бұрын
Okay, this is a genius idea Monique. I have never considered this as an option and have been reading and watching videos on how to do it. These little mavericks are always flying over the fence and causing so much chaos. This is such great advice, thank you.

Hi guys, loved the tour❣️ I was wondering, are your neighbours curious about your homestead. I can just imagine you giving tours 😊 especially to school kids!
@millennialhomesteader7 ай бұрын
Thanks Sharon, so glad you did. We have had some of our neighbours complement the progress and the work they see us do. We would like to do a few tours but that is a next year goal. Once we take the second and last part of our farm.

Thanks so much. We got them from a company in Nelspruit called Maxi Grow. The lady is called Kath. You can give her a call on 083 235 9834. It’s a business number so give her a call. Very responsive, professional and so kind.

Time for you to get two goats now haha 😅
@millennialhomesteader7 ай бұрын
We have been talking about it. We need strong fencing to make sure 1. The goats don’t mow over the fence to visit our neighbour and 2. The animals with 2 legs don’t decide to help themselves to the goats. But we can’t wait.
@akatsukiawsome137 ай бұрын
@@millennialhomesteader My mother visited earlier this week, and talked about how in the eastern euro soviet village she grew up in they would just stake a goat in an area for a day, and then move them a bit every day to keep the lawn mown. Very different from us stalling them and fattening over the winter so they have the most healthy possible births and have huge calorie reserves for high milk production in spring.

Lovely!, did you guys buy land and built that house from scratch or you bought it with a building already?
@millennialhomesteader7 ай бұрын
Yes it already had a house. This was a non negotiable for us. We both work so a house and ability to get WiFi or connectivity were necessary so that we are able to still do our jobs.
@keletsomokone26636 ай бұрын
I also want to homestead, but i don't want to be overwhelmed by a huge piece of land that i can't take care of. How big is your plot?
@millennialhomesteader6 ай бұрын
Hi. It’s under 2 hectares. It will depend on what you intend to do with it. Either way it will be a lot. If things need to be built or maintained and you plan to do it. It will need your attention. Start small is definitely our advice here. Or at least visit a homestead first and get an idea of how it is.
