Love it when getting a real upgrade, like hot water in the shower, a refrigerator, or an indoor washing machine and other people can't quite grasp how amazing such things are to those of us who have lived without them. It's great! Such delight in simple things that most first-world-ers take for granted. We are so fortunate, aren't we? To have these luxuries. Clean drinking water...a comfortable bed at night...so many things. You two are doing so well! Your baby is a fortunate one too, to have you as parents.

I lived for 10 years in a one room cabin, with no electricity, and no running water. Our saving grace was the fact that we were next to a lake, so we built a dock on the lake with a large sauna. During the winter we used the sauna, and during the summer we used the lake. One day, my partner brought the battery in out of his truck and hooked up a couple of lights, and I was in heaven. We heated that cabin with a woodstove that was made out of and oil tank that my partner scrounged somewhere and we were able to burn 5 foot lengths… The challenge being if you’re burning a 5 foot length you’re also taking off most of your clothes cause it’s too hot in the house even in the dead of winter lol. We also used an out house…it was not my favorite lol. I tell you all this while watching your videos because I know exactly the kind of celebration a washing machine or shower is in your life 💚.

I hand washed our laundry for 5 adults for over 3 years till the arthritis in my hands got too bad. I got a washer/dryer combo and it was life changing! I've had it for 3 years now and I still can't believe I have a washer! I still mostly hang our clothes to dry, even in the winters of northern Wisconsin, but it's nice to know I have an option. So happy for you and your new washer/dryer combo!

The nice thing about the front loader washer is that your load is weighed and that weight determines how much water is used. If I ever sell my house and live more remote,I will be getting the combo machine. Congrats and I love that it brings you so much joy!!!!

One of the advantages of using this washer/dryer is you could dry for a few minutes then hand the wash up overnight. The best of both worlds with less energy usage and minimal wrinkles. I did this when we lived in Germany, they did not have dryers=clean clothes that had the wonderful smell of lined dried. I was one of those who used cotton diapers for the most part and neither of our children ever had a diaper rash. Once you have a system, the money saved is ridiculous and it just feel good. Pampers for extreme emergencies only. You seem to do everything with a specific economical and intentional purpose, kudos. ✌️🤗🇨🇦

I actually think that combo washer-dryer is pretty cool. I can see once the baby comes, you might be running laundry a lot, but it's cool that you just stick it in there and then it's done! You don't have to worry about it for hours - that actually seems like a positive rather than a negative.

I had a washer and dryer combo in my house for the last 22 years. I’ve had no problems with it after a long time. The dryer seem to not work as good so I bought an RV electric dryer a whirlpool for 50 bucks and that’s what I use until I sold the house. I never had any complaints the dryer dries by,steam so when you take out your clothes before they’re actually damp you have to kinda hang them up but they work and for places where you can’t vent it works perfectly

I have the GE washer dryer combo. And I never have to dry longer than the preset cycle. It is steam dry so it's like humid damp. If I just shake the clothes out when I pull them out. My clothes last longer with less damage to them because they are heat blasted everytime I do laundry!

I've been watching your channel since Brian with Sierra snow camping, but something just hit me. I grew up in your house. My dad built our home from farm wood and old barracks on all the acres my parents could afford and without running water. Summer had baths in a pot, all the light switches were upside down, and we had a blow dryer for the well on cold morning and frogs in the drains. Those are my favorite moments. Dad became a master carpenter and built beautiful homes, and us girls grew up good women now in our 40s, but we never fixed the light switches. Live it! Love your life and those you bring into it! It's time that's a resource.

Yup! You will figure it out! A baby changes everything, especially the first! But you guys will be fine. The soup looked delicious! The jewelry carrier is sumptuous! And the washer/dryer is very cool! Most people wind up leaving stuff in the washer way too long. One thing I happened to do 48 years ago with my first baby was buy a few boxes of disposable diapers. I know, sounds awful. I was planning on using cloth diapers, and I did. But, I knew that my husband and I would be without help, so I thought a few easy diapers might help. I had to have an emergency c-section (big baby; footling breech). Anyway, we came home and enjoyed not having to wash newborn diapers for a couple of weeks. Sleep will be so disrupted, and finding ways to rest is a good thing….said the old grandma! Also, enjoy loving on that baby all you can! No such thing as too many cuddles! And they grow up so fast!❤️
@sharondoan14476 күн бұрын
Great idea! Let’s ease into the newborn baby experience by using some disposable diapers for the first few weeks, or months, and switch to cloth once we kind of get into a routine of some sort.
@sharondoan14476 күн бұрын
My family in Japan have used the Samsung washer-drier for many years. What I have heard them say is you need to remember to not over fill the machine. Overloading the machine adds time to the drying and the clothes have no room to fluff up. They will come out horribly wrinkled. Over time you will get a sense of what items to put together for the best out some. Drying towels may not be necessary if you have a clothes line of some sort to dry them on. ( on which to dry them , if you prefer😊) My mother freeze dried sheets and towels in Winter on a line strung outside. If the day was windy they were soft, if not they were kind of rough and stiff. But the drying was free! And the fresh, clean smell was amazing.

A wee suggestion, as a combo washer dryer owner for years (theyre incredibly popular in the UK due to small kitchen sizes/no utility space) maybe think about getting a clothes dryer or pulley dryer for your smaller items saving electricity especially for an area near your stove or windows during the day.

Life off-grid is like living in the 1900's with 2025 high tech mixed in at the same time, its like living in a time-warp. Congrats on your high tech washer / dryer combo. Samsung have innovative products but they have one downside. When the break down, and they will, you will have to wait one month for a warranty part replacement. Fingers crossed this is a non issue for your growing family.
