I'm happy KZbin suggested your channel when you started. I have enjoyed each and every update you do. You have a great attitude and push on when it's right and stop and think when it's not. I love your videos as you show your mistakes and flaws and we all get to learn more. Keep up the great work and thanks again for the effort filming it to share.😊

I watch several off grid "content creators". Of all of them your uploads are the most visceral and, honestly anxiety inducing. I entirely understand the call of the wildlands but stay safe brother. You're doing this the hard way, which is not a criticism.

That really sucks. All the time, effort and cost and you couldnt get to the cabin. It has been a off year everywhere as far as weather! I have a friend who hunts in the river bottoms in Wisconsin. He has to cross partly frozen sloughs and moving water to get to his stands. He bought a cold water survival suit for his water crossings. He claims it works well for him. It would be difficult and expensive to prepare for every winter weather condition. Your video was still very interesting and showed very real content. Keep up the good work!

Just read the 1st comment from the man in the UK not having this available to him. Even with all the negative things I see here in Canada I’m still thankful that I can live a very similar life to yours, no running water, solar power only, almost non existent taxes. This is still available in Canada, in my case I ended up on the opposite end of the country in remote Newfoundland outport, I even have a Stryker 16 foot. Very glad I found your channel, I’d say Good Luck but I can see you make your own!

Man, you are a tough guy for choosing such a remote property. Good you are learning about the accessibility of your property in all seasons. Important to know. I live in a remote area of B.C. west of Williams Lake in a timber frame cabin. Love it!
@mikecrawford73527 ай бұрын
I wish I could do that. I always wanted to but didn’t have the courage, know how or money to be able. A small emergency cabin at the end of the trail to your property would be very handy. Cable crossing also a great idea for the future. Awesome build I’m enjoying every upload. I look forward to seeing the next one.

Must be a very defeating felling for you. You need a canoe to leave on shore it would enable you to cross the river. perhaps you next trip will be more successfull. This winter has been quite unussualy warm.

Really enjoying your content . Lots because its something i always wanted . Also because it looks like home . I am from prince george b.c . So many sights and spots i recognize . One thing if you mqde some quick snow shoes with spruce boughs would have saved buying snowshoes. Bravos were the go to sled for trappers back in the day . Hahaha what luck the library rented snowshoes . Must be a northern thing . Our library also does that. Id say good choice not going in the river . Glad we get to see you again . Looking forward to your next adventure be safe

I'm loving watching your journey through this experience. You must long to be back at your property when you're away. You're a hardy bugger though, and your attitude towards adversity is second to none. Nothing seems to phase you. This is a lesson to me and no doubt others who get hot under the collar in the face of far less challenging things. Good on you mate. I look forward to the next episode.

I absolutely love your channel! Last year, I purchased an off grid cabin (needs repairs) that is only accessible by the river. It's been quite the challenge to make my way to it and had to turn back a couple of times! I pay very close attention to every little detail in your videos that can help me in my off grid adventure! I also venture into the wilderness, mostly alone, and it can be quite overwhelming at times. Your videos are very inspiring, and I always look forward to your next upload! I learn and gain so much confidence just watching your content! Salutations, from northern quebec! 👍

You should look into direct solar pump setup for your outhouse and stuff. Really simple setup. Just hook the pump up to the solar panel and it will pump as long as there is sun. Perfect for filling a barrel or something over time on those beautiful days. And no battery or no fancy controllers. Can also be used for powering a fan or other simple devices.

Next - A boat left at camp to ferry you and supplies across the river. Or a simple log raft ferry on a pully system. Snowmobile. Pull behind. Winter hammok set up for emergencies. Stay safe and healthy.

Yes building a small shelter on the opposite bank from the cabin is a great idea. Having pre-cut firewood ready to go as well. These Lessons learned should be written down in a log book to remind you later as you age. Never venture in the Bush without proper gear to make fire, shelter, a pot to melt snow, a cruiser axe , and a folding saw. Food pemican if you can get it. A sled to drag behind you, a large thermos with hot beverage. Shotgun with slugs and 00 buck. A good knife too.

Is there not an access to your cabin from the other side? Me I'm was and raised in the desert AZ. I know it can be hot as hell during the day and cold at night. Was int the army and spent most of my career in the snow and have been wet up to my knees in water during the winter MOS was 12C which is bridge building. Have built over rivers with ice chunks running down it, when you spend 24 hours in those cold wet conditions you really start to think God I hate my job. The one thing they taught us is safety first always. Can respect what your doing and I admire you a hole hell of a lot, but you should have built on the side where you have access to your home during all types of weather. Thats why I asked if you had access to your site on the other side SAFETY FIRST!!! You fall in that water during the winter and catch something under ice so always think before you do and always remember the one rule Safety First. I hope the best for you and love the vids.
