I have had three Mitsubishis. A D50 pickup, Lancer and now an Outlander GT. All have been great, reliable, low maintenance vehicles at good price points. One of the best bargains new or used. Those who say they wont buy or recommend have probably not even driven one longer than a test drive. I do agree they have made some bad business moves with marketing and dealer networks. We are lucky to have a great Mitsubishi dealer here in Wilmington, NC in D&E Mitsubishi. I wish corporate would pump some money into the branding. Nissan will probably kill the brand now that they own the controlling share. Never been impressed with Nissan reliability after the early 2000s. So far nothing but Mitsubishis and Fords for me, have both and best makes I have had!

hawkydave I agree! Many of the people read the negative reviews from critics online but what made me purchase a Mitsubishi were the owner reviews; almost all of the critic reviews I've read were negative... but mostly all the owner reviews were positive. That being said, I purchased an outlander GT 2017 model and it has been fantastic so far and it rides just as well as a Lexus RX surprisingly.

They have been in business for 100 yrs. I have never owned one.

hawkydave I can agree with that wholeheartedly. I’ve had a Gallant and now an Outlander. I’ve had nothing but great luck with them. They take all kinds of abuse and last practically forever with virtually no maintenance. And yet everyone keeps telling me “you should get rid of that, Mitsubishi’s aren’t very good”. LOL! Whatever you say. ;)

Dave,your reviews are right on the spot.I personally own a 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander and it's been a tank and a wonderful vehicle for me and my family even better than our 2008 Toyota 4 runner reliability wise!Good review Dave!I subscribed and looking to hear and see more reviews from you!

I love CVT transmissions. I really don't understand why so many hate it. If you go with the flow in traffic, there is nothing better. Only for boy racers it is not a good transmission.

Some other automotive guy I watched said something to the effect that while it rode rough it did have a really good AWD system.I can't remember what other crossover they put it up against in a light off road test. But the other crossover while nicer with a better smoother ride just barely made it up a rough,hilly road the Outlander made it look easy.If I was gonna get one I think I would prefer the 6 cylinder with the automatic though.Providing it had just as good an AWD system.

I don't think any of them come with paddle shifters outside of the GT. I have them in mine and use them a lot during the Winter to quickly have the engine slow me down on yellow lights and hills. They work great.

Mitsubishi motors is almost dead in the USA... they make decent cars but they are making all the wrong decisions in design and marketing... if they just focus on Lancer, Evo, and Outlander, they could remain on the map! Instead they axed the Evo and tried to make Mirage and iMEV happen :\
@rathk12707 жыл бұрын
rainystorm88 doesn't help that the lancer's design is so late 90's early 2000's
@usfanlovesjiwoo19787 жыл бұрын
You are wrong. The sports cars are a thing of the past in the US. There is barely a market for them so Mitsubishi did the right thing in going in the SUV direction which is what a large portion of American's want. Mitsubishi also increased their sales in the US in 2016 by 33.6% compared to 2015 and 2017 will be even better. You really need to do some research because it makes you look bad. With the addition of the Eclipse Cross, they are doing a great job. My husband has this 2017 Outlander in the same quartz brown color and he loves it with no complaints.

Did you guys get the 4 cyl CVT or the 6 cyl 6 speed automatic?
@dblmeat7 жыл бұрын
i have a 2016 outlander sport, and agree they should have turbo charged the sport and kept the evo...all successful mitsubishis were turbo charged...eclips the 3000gt. they are coming out with the micro x over and calling it the eclips...its turbo but only the 1.5 liter. they should dump the cvt as well i realy dont like it. it works but feels goofy. they should at least offer the 6 speed as an opttion on the higher trim outlanders and sports. just my opinion
@josephedwards33736 жыл бұрын
Heck if they brought the eclipse back I think that would help too

@francismartinez60497 жыл бұрын
Rath K Their warranty is not worth the piece of paper they're written on. They'll find any excuse possible to try and void your warranty. It's cheaper than most because it's poorly made. A Toyota or Honda costs more, because your paying for quality.

Brian Lawrance You have no idea, consumer reports say otherwise.
@iatsd7 жыл бұрын
+Brian Lawrance I've had 2 Mitsubishi (Galant & Outlander) 2007 - 2016. The Galant needed warranty work 3 times (US built, so crap consrtruction) but they covered it each and every time. The Outlander (Japan built) never needed work once. Globally, they rank as well as Honda or Toyota in build quality. The only vehicles that dragged them down were the US built ones, but thankfully they've stopped doing that.
@francismartinez60497 жыл бұрын
San Sss Consumer reports is not a valid source for getting information on car reliability. They test cars when they are brand new and read surveys from owners who have had them for 1 year. How can you possibly judge a car's long term reliability over a short period of 1 year. Heck, even a Chrysler can be reliable for the first year and not have problems but that doesn't mean it won't have a bunch of problems in 5 years. If you want a true sense of how reliable a car is, ask a real mechanic whose been working on them for years. Or just open your eyes and look on the road. Do you see 15-20 year old Mitsubishis on the road - it's very unlikely. But I see many old Toyotas, Hondas, and even Nissans that are still going after 300,000 miles. A Mitsubishi can't go that far without some serious work. Don't rely on Consumer reports.
