Props to Nissan for putting you journalists out on real trails not just some stupid obstacle course in a parking lot. I'm definitely considering this over the ranger or taco.

Hey you’re in my neighborhood. I have driven most of the roads in that area. One of the best things about living here is being able to go into the mountains or out into the desert if I want wide open nothingness. It’s real dusty because up until this week we haven’t had any rain for months. Set the AC on recirculate to keep the dust out without plugging up the cabin air filter.

I don't understand putting it in 4 low so early. 4 high or even 2wd is capable early on. Plus isn't traditionally as hard on the drivetrain.

I thought the same thing, I've driven my 2007 frontier long bed crew cab up rockier trails in 2wd. I'm in no hurry to spend 40k on a new truck yet., as much as I love this new model.

Reduces the torque induced stress on a small number of components. Less chance of breaking anything.

My guess is that Nissan just wanted to make sure the journalists were driving 4 wheel drive, otherwise some may not have switched over at the appropriate time and gotten themselves stuck, which would look very bad for Nissan. I doubt they care very much how much wear is on the drivetrain of these pre-production trucks.

Ive always liked the looks of the frontiers especially with the top luggage bars they would have. My father got his 04 frontier v6 back in 2008 and it's had its fair share of issues due to aging but it still runs great. Its probably the most beaten up on the streets due to his job, but i love that truck despite it's conditions. I really like the new one !

I would have liked to see what some of the dash was displaying; seeing your camber angles and pitch. I've done roads like that in a side by side, but never owned a truck small enough to be able to get to those narrow trails.

in 2023, I think all 4x4 trucks could traverse that trail without difficulties. I like the Nissan trucks: great seats, and no turbos to fail when the truck is needed most.

I lived and worked there in Heber City and Park City. BEAUTIFUL area. Very unique and although I live 40 minutes from Lake Tahoe I hope to move back there some day. The Frontier has been my favorite mid size truck and I like this 3rd generation a lot. Nice review, keep up the good work!

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 224,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.

I had a 2011 Taco SR5 and a 2015 Frontier SV Plus. The Frontier was a better truck all around. More comfortable, more power, better towing and brakes. Tacoma's are overrated, as are most Toyotas...they aren't what they used to be. I have since moved to a full size Ram as I needed the capacity, but would buy one of these new Frontiers in a minute if I downsized.

Wow. Nissan sure wasn't afraid of anyone breaking a truck. After years of seeing mostly Toyota trucks rule the compact truck arena it's nice to see Nissan with this beautiful bold design. I'm guessing it will sell. Question for me is....can it be flat towed? The information I've gotten says the Tacoma can't. The Ranger, Colorado and Overpriced Gladiator can.

Seems strange that with all of the computers, sensors and lightweight plastic that used to be metal. modern vehicles do not get much better gas mileage than 6 cylinders of the 80s.

if you compare this to an 80's mid size truck, this thing is as big as an 80's half ton. That's why. and all the safety stuff, complicated engine and zillion gears transmissions are heavier.

for the amount of increased horse power and torque! my 2003 frontier had way less power than my 2006 pathfinder (same drive train as frontier) but relatively the same gas mileage. I think the power gains to fuel consumption is amazing really. a half ton gets roughly the same mileage so you must really want or need a midsized truck for whatever reasons.

Lot of rattling going on. Probably could have run that trail in 2 wheel or 4 high. 4 low looked to be overkill. Roads on my deer lease are rougher than that. Not as steep though.
