@@marcpikas2859 fully boxed frame front to back transfers the weight load to the front of the frame causing a more jittery ride. Open c channel rear allows flexing and a smoother ride. I bought a 2022 pro-4x fully loaded (tactical green) 2 weeks ago. The hydraulic steering may take a little getting used to, but it feels great, it feels like a truck should in my opinion. It’s a very smooth and quiet ride and gets up to speed very quickly, leather seats are also nice and comfortable. I almost bought a Tacoma until I saw this redesign and I decided to wait. I’m really glad I did because to me this is a better truck (and fully loaded cheaper than a comparable Tacoma). I drive 5-6 hours a day for work (50/50 city/highway) and am averaging 21.1 mpg. You guys are great and I just absolutely love the Frontier, always have. It’s such an honest truck. Nissan got the formula right back around 2012 and they’ve stuck with it. I’m happy to see a new engine and a much better interior and exterior but I’m happier to see the same ol’ underpinnings that I’ve known and loved for the better part of this century. Like Dad said in his closing statement, it’s “familiar”. You know what you’re getting and you’re getting it for a fair price. Way to go Nissan!

I don't know about the "fair price" part. I agree that the Frontier has always been the best midsize truck, but the price of the redesign has grown substantially. I bought a 2022 Frontier SV a few weeks back and steering effort feels fine to me. Not sure why people are complaining about the "heavy" steering. Some really beautiful shots in this video, great job! I like the approach of this vehicle. People often talk about not buying the first model year of a new generation vehicle due to concerns over dependability. I think Nissan has done a good job of belaying some of those concerns by adding the new powertrain last year (in the US) and slowly upgrading the rest of the vehicle. I imagine this helps keep costs down while also minimizing generational concerns of buyers. Will it be a winning strategy for them? I guess we'll have to wait and see... The midsize segment has been interesting to follow lately. With capabilities of pickups/trucks constantly increasing, these midsize trucks are now nearly as capable of 1/2 tons of not too long ago. Not to mention we now we have the mini-trucks being re-introduced to the market! I really appreciate all of your coverage and look forward to your continued insights. Turn radius doesn't bother me a bit, I do own a JEEP, turns on a dime. I've been in the other midsized they all have their pros and cons. Like the Titan Nissan trucks have the most stuff I need and like. Gas mileage is 350 miles on a tank in the mountains and 70mph highway speed limits. "High output" V6 last forever with scheduled maintenance. I use 4 low instead of the decent control when off roading, much more control without using ABS. I use utili-trac system everyday, wonderful tie-down system. Sorry to see its not on the bottom of the bed in this one. Hopefully it's still an option as I'd get this over any of the other midsized in a heartbeat. Low bed sides makes life SO MUCH better than the other midsized trucks too.

I have been looking at this truck since it reentered the market with an 80%+ all new truck. I have sat in many of the old one and I was not a fan. Now it's a legit competitor if I am able to get to a point where I can afford a new mid size truck. My dream truck is the Colorado ZR2, but this one might be a solid second place to look at. I forgot about them not going electronic steering, oh well I don't need the Co Pilot 360 nannies. They definitely improved the seats 💺even though they are not the zero gravity seats that are in many other new Nissans. I think one of the reasons why they didn't spend as much money and do more is they know the market and they got burned by providing so many options in the redesigned Titan and Titan XD and not selling as many as they hoped for. Great review guys, might see a Baja storm or Tactical Green Frontier in my driveway next year.

It may not be "ALL NEW" but does it have to be? 1) Electric steering assist may be "modern" but on an offroad capable truck, and one that may experience water fording, do you really want electric assist or would you rather have hydraulic? 2) The fuel economy improvements may be minimal, but the Tacoma didn't see vast improvements in fuel economy when Toyota butchered their engine/trans combo. 3) Building upon the Taco's engine and transmission combo, reusing what worked for Nissan with the engine and transmission may be what sets it apart from the Tacoma in the midsize market. I still see and hear Tacoma owners who dislike their Tacoma's shifting and the way the engine and trans endlessly communicate with each other and shifts or hold gears for no apparent reason.

@@rebelcitysports1outlook713 That's exactly why I have been following this release. There seems to be so much deception around the Tacoma's transmission issue. From not-so-honest reviews to flat out mob rule on sites like Tacoma World. If anyone asks the dreaded transmission question they are literally insulted and berated by those guys. Coming from the Jeep side, where I've never met a person who was unwilling to help answer a question, the Taco guys were more fanatics than anything else. I understand brand loyalty, but I can still be honest about the Jeep and point out its shortcomings. So, like I said, I am very much interested in this release. I was glad to see that the engine was used in the last model. Normally I avoid 1st year production, but it seems like Nissan did the smart thing, learned from the mistakes Toyota made with the Tacoma, and did more of an incremental update with the 2021 and 2022 trucks.

With Nissan utilizing thier older F platform in the new Frontier, I can't wait to see a new 2022 Nissan Frontier thats been titan swapped.

Nice. Ready to buy one top trim but no ventilated seats. 😟

Was very excited about the new looks. That quickly turned to disappointment when they took away the manual option. Sat in one, it was nice. But if I wasn't going to be able to get a manual, I decided I should look at the other automatic options. Test drove a Ridgeline. Hands down a better pick-up. (Pick-up, not truck). The Ridgeline is bigger in all the important ways. The front seats are wider and more spacious front cab. The rear seats have more room, and with the seats folded up - provide cavernous storage the Frontier back seats can only dream about. And the Ridgeline 5'-4" bed is better than the Frontier 5' bed. Not really because of the extra 4" of length, but because of the extra 8" of width AND because the Ridgeline bed is 100% flat (more useful) AND because it has barn door tailgate AND it has a massive locking weathertight trunk. - The Honda is a tad pricier, but it's more than a tad larger and more practical. But the Honda is more refined, and is better built...

So you bought and SUV with a bed. You cannot really compare the two

@@Blue-moon12 Sure I can. The Honda is the better truck in every way it needs to be for me.

I hate the light steering on my tacoma. I think I would like the heavy steering

Had a 2003 frontier long bed years ago. Is the steering any harder than that model year? Thanks

I don’t think you need a locker at 9:47. Ive gone through much more ngarly inclinations without engaging the locker in my Tacoma

Ahhhh 42.2 feet is smaller than 44.1 feet down here in the USA were the frontier is Made.
@Shakerhood693 жыл бұрын
I wondered that at first too but 44.1 is for the long bed LWB.

So I see that the turning radius sucks on the frontier, would you say the same for the older brother the Titan for its segment?

If the Tacoma wasn’t reliable it would probably be last in the midsize segment

The 3rd Gen Tacoma isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It’s not nearly as reliable as previous Gen Tacoma’s are or as reliable as what Tacoma fanboys will tell you.
@drn133553 жыл бұрын
That is mostly perception. Data shows all vehicles (besides maybe Fiat) are amazingly reliable. Engineering and build quality of vehicles is super impressive these days. Back in the 90s there was a difference between Toyota and others, but that is negligible at best these days.

I have had all 3 generations of Tacoma's and they have been equally reliable and durable.

Frontier reliability is comparable to the Tacoma. Proper maintenance is key.
