Q series are really good at showing off potential of courses to be on tour. For example KCWO was a Q series (silver before that) and it’ll be on tour next year, the q series was sort of an intro to make sure it would be possible to have a PT event.
@mrw92165 күн бұрын
I would say the “team” aspect is the fact if your “teammates” are doing well or are a likable person it brings more eyes to the brand which also brings more eyes to you. Coming from a motocross background it’s the same thing with that. Talent brings attention, attention brings sales, sales bring talent.

Yes, bigger purses! Outside money is needed to make these purses bigger.

It could be like high school wrestling. Its still an individual sport but the team is competing dor individual points. Maybe each tournament has set number of points a manufacturer plays for

The brands should be able to "challange" each other. The pot could have a bunch of sponsorships

there is no switch that happens in sports from event payout increasing and contracts decreasing, not really possible. it is all connected and flows. THE ONLY WAY THE PRIZE MONEY GOES UP is to simply raise the money that comes into an event, which is money from sponsors. the money from sponsors go up, when viewership goes up, and ticket sales go up. athlete contracts do not impact disc golf event payout. the only way to raise money on payouts, is to raise the purse, which comes from sponsors, which comes from viewership.

This is an excellent idea Brodie!! It will absolutely bring so many more eyes to the sport, and it will make players play as well as they can possibly play!!!

not difficult but there are certain discs that make it easy. discs like cheater discs that just work like magic for you. if you switch you gotta find those discs all over

@bosoxdanc17 күн бұрын
When you have essentially free access to as many discs you want, probably not too hard. People on groups are generally willing to part with absolute money runs if it means it will be in the top pros bag, so these dudes will have access to the cream of the crop right from the beginning.
@phoebewittwag6227 күн бұрын
Disc sales aren’t based on fans! This is a misconception. I own 250+ discs and have never bought a disc because of a stamp or player … HOWEVER! I buy discs based on flight, weight and color. Merchandise is sold on personality. More discs will be sold when announcers describe every disc thrown including specific weight. Wake TFU
@ztsb_koneko7 күн бұрын
Speak for yourself. Do you have the numbers to back that up on a broader scale? Don't get me wrong, I'm just like you, but if there is a disc I throw anyways and it's got a cool stamp, especially from a player I like, I'm 100% grabbing one or two.
@Knoxiclean4 күн бұрын
@@ztsb_koneko i agree with him, i buy discs cause they look good and they do what i want. not a mcbeth fan but i have a few discs that used to have his name on them in my bag because of the molds and plastic blends

So much negativity. Hah. So far, I like the idea Brodie is pitching here. Definitely seems like we need some innovation/change to take the sport to the next level. I don't know if this is it, but definitely sounds exciting and there is some logic behind it. I don't understand the current funding scheme, players contracts, etc. enough to know the full outcome but keep on voicing your mind, Brodie! (didnt need to tell ya that, I know 😆)

I think I’d love to see the flip in purse driving players rather than sponsorships, but Disc Golf just isn’t there yet. Money isn’t proportional from golf to DG. Golf pros are still making a COMFORTABLE living just on sponsorships while having opportunity for huge purse wins. If dg companies lowered sponsorship money to players anymore currently, there’d only be a handful of players freed up enough to travel and play. So while I agree that model is ultimately better, we just aren’t there yet. The question now becomes, how do you get there?
@tattooedjohnson7 күн бұрын
If the sponsorship money found it's way into the purses...but nope. Manufacturers give it to 5 or 6 dudes.
@michaelmaniloff92977 күн бұрын
@tattooedjohnson why would the sponsors be required to donate to the purse money?...
@michaelmaniloff92977 күн бұрын
Would need to find businesses that found it's worth their investment to do this. Would be interested to talk to Barbasol and see how much benefit they have received in exchange for sponsoring the tour championship.
@tattooedjohnson7 күн бұрын
@michaelmaniloff9297 very simple.. Better the event, more people will watch. I don't watch poker, but when it's for million bucks I will. Disc golf tournaments need bigger prize money, better trophies, make the audience feel like what they are watching is important. Let alllll the players get a Crack at the cash instead of top 5. Who cares if 1st gets 10k. That's a slot machine. Go beat a field like dgpt. It ain't ez if if your a top pro. The customers will buy the shwag if it's worthy
@stevenramseyjr20327 күн бұрын
To add: With the DGPT still being a tiny thing in the sports world, esoecially in the sports-sarurated U.S., the DGPT needs to make its main product available for free to viewers. The DGPT literally will never grow their product at any decent rate by keeping most of it behind a paywall, even if the paywall is relatively low-cost to the audience, because it means more work on the audience's part, no matter what. It's just a basic marketing fact.

Sponsorship should support expenses. Money should be directed exclusively to the pot. In other words, “wait to pay the band until after they’ve performed”. This is the reason disc golf is not recognized as a legitimate sport and why players don’t train off-season. And why there’s no reason to watch, because who cares if they win 1,000$.

nobody knows how much these top pros can make. kevin jones hit an incredible decline in his performance, but as he was sucking, he was making over 22k a month on his contract with prodigy. ezra robinson to me is where KJ was when he got PAID. if im dynamic discs, i immediately stop paying kona a single cent, stop paying zach melton, stop paying ty love. But most of the several who bank the most are literally about the most self-driven players in the sport -- Gannon, Kristin, and Ricky chief among them. Kristin, for one, has a lot of sponsors and partnerships (mostly non-d.g. brands) now that *she* sought out and made happen. It does help her that she is a big fish in the small Estonian pond, and that her government assists in some ways. Granted. But she has worked harrrd to get to her status. Ricky, for another, has involved himself with Bitcoin and also has a steady Airbnb income as a result of educating himself in those areas. He also constantly sells on IG. He works harrrd. Brodie isn't a peak disc golfer, but he works harrrd at his nest egg. Uli does all right because he grinds at various gigs harrrd.
