OB Mike. You're correct, there's an 'imaginary cylinder" above the rim that a defender can't bat the ball from or it's Goal Tending (auto points for offense)
@Ordzo88
@Ordzo88 Жыл бұрын
Yup, and in FIBA/International that rule doesn't exist. They can hit the ball off the rim. Not in the NBA tho.
@_WeDontKnow_
@_WeDontKnow_ Жыл бұрын
@@Ordzo88 oh wow I didn't know that, i gotta get into more international ball also worth mentioning they can't touch the rim itself while the ball is in this invisible cylinder, as it can move and affect the outcome of the shot.
@gregcable3250
@gregcable3250 Жыл бұрын
And that works for any shot--the initial or as in this case a carom upward withing the imaginary cylinder. Don't touch. Also if one uses the backboard (and not) and the ball has started to descend, that too is often called as goaltending.

@@Ordzo88 could a team just have a tall guy put his arm through the bottom of the hoop and make it actually impossible to score in international basketball? Basketball doesn't work without goaltending rules.

Most basketball arenas are in the 18-20k range in terms of capacity...which is about the same with hockey since many share the same venue. You really wouldn't want it any bigger than that as a viewer. They always play the college basketball championship game at some huge venue and when you see how far away most of the spectators are, you'd never want to buy a ticket. Back in the day my dad and his friends all went to the Final Four and around halftime they left to watch the rest of the game at a bar because they couldn't see shit.

Yeah when you are talking about the game in the stadium for the NHL, it's called the "Winter Classic" which is played outdoors. In 2014 between Toronto and Detroit had over 105,000 people in attendance. Also, the Toronto vs Golden State - the reason it was so hype was because GSW was considered heavy favorites as they were a dynasty team. And Toronto was already up 3-1 in the series, so seeing them take it to the Warriors was amazing for the fans.

Lin-sanity was a flash in the pan, crazy story of an asian american player who nobody ever heard of, who out of nowhere just went off on the NBA for like 3 weeks. Most, or all, of this footage are recent, from the past 10 years or so, some maybe ~15 years back, like the Blazers-Fernandez clip as one example. Thus, it would be unfair to call this video "Of all time", as there is no doubt other times beyond 20 years ago in the history of the NBA should have been included, which afaik have practically all been recorded with video (televised) or audio only (radio). One other notable time where crowds got wild & loud was during the short time of 2012 Linsanity, especially during the games against the Lakers & against the Raptors, because of the nature of that underdog story & that New York had a decade-long drought of post-seasons prior. It's understandable the video is not all-inclusive, but if you are going to call it "Of all time", then it should have had at least one clip from the 1960's, 70's, 80's, 90's & so forth, as NBA crowds have always been equally loud & uproarious, no matter what plays & what decade/era they happened in.
