The biggest difference from deathcore to death metal is the vocals. Deathcore vocalists are more versatile and use many more tones/techniques than death metal vocalists who tend to have one dominant monotone vocal. For example you very rarely hear high tones in death metal whereas in deathcore it is a component of almost every song. Another big difference is the emphasis on breakdowns & slams which are used much more frequently and often characterize entire songs.

deathcore is mainly known as deathcore because of the breakdowns in pretty much every deathcore song i guess lmao. also the fact that there's a range of vocals that most other metal genre's use but deathcore uses multiple different ones like in this one where he's used like 4 different kinds. you could also argue it's because of the speed as well, most all deathcore bands go REALLY fast.
