great video as always while i was watching i had a thought about the hall ceiling if you wanted you could cut out all the old 4x2 and fix the new ceiling directly to the new floor joists of the loft room hence gaining ceiling height in the upper hall ..... bit more work in that mind you ....

Could use an adjustable downlight or do a little recess into the plasterboard. Think staircases are built top down because you can rest it on the upper floor while building and lowering it, whereas if you build it bottom up you might end up with the top edge of a section being free floating and unsupported which is a lot harder to work with. Every situation is different though, here you had walls to rest it on at each stage so what you did makes sense to me.

You start the staircase from the top so you can make sure the top tread is level with the floor. If there is any discrepancy you can fix it by trimming the bottom stair. (This is what I have been told) Great job so far. 👍

Gotcha, that's handy to know - and does make a bit of sense. The Stairbox method + pin-point measuring means it's possible to build from the bottom 💪👍
