Most police vehicles are equipped with a speed monitoring GPS system that alerts the shift supervisor when an officer exceeds 10-15 mph. Most police officers going to calls do not use sirens when going to calls either. Alerting the bad guys you are coming, or causing traffic to act in an erratic manner is dangerous. They do drive fast as allowed by law and can exceed speed limits when performing duties. And officers are allowed to talk on their cell phones since they may be talking to victims on scene, other officers responding to a call, dispatch or supervisors, and if the fear that the suspects may be using a device like a scanner to monitor communications on things such as robberies or kidnappings, or for other reasons. Most deputies don't have hands free calling. If you catch a police officer speeding and you can record it while being sure to get the white lines on the road or the spacing of power poles. Then if they can not prove that officer was going to a legitimate call, they can be brought before a review board. However, make sure you are not speeding. If you catch an officer playing on his phone, also record it. If you decide to be an idiot and think, 'Well the cop doesn't have his lights and sirens on, I can drive as fast as he can' you will learn a valuable lesson about playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes. Imhave been that idiot! I have caught cops speeding before GPS was a thing and had several brought up on review and suspended. Also caught them driving without a seatbelt, driving their children home in take home cars, and eating while driving using both hands. I am pro law enforcement, but them giving us tickets for things they do, is not ok. I'm just sharing things I've learned over the years to keep you from making some mistakes I made.

Mr Montgomery is such a well mannered, calm gentleman. He complied completely with all the officers instructions, (even though they were confusing,) spoke decently to the officer. I'm glad the officer was fired. He's a bad apple in the force. Glad he was kicked out before he got worse.

Nothing bad came from this interaction. The criminal, oh im sorry really nice guy that likes to put innocent peoples lives in danger, was arrested without incident. The cop did nothing wrong other than get a little flustered but he was able to recoup and complete the arrest without violating the mans rights or harm coming to anyone. This was a good stop but he is being punished for being white and arresting a black man.

@@TinfoilHatWearer He literally did that on purpose. And this was not the first time he's done it most likely. But that's what they do to us- escalate things so they have an excuse to bully, harass, and arrest us. Sometimes beat or even kill us. My godparents whom raised me since 6th grade were white, and my long-time partner is also white. I've seen and experienced the difference of treatment by members of law enforcement (with a certain 'aesthetic') towards law-abiding Black male citizens like myself, and equally law-abiding White men. In short; there's a stark difference. Which is why I'm not surprised this gentleman was treated this way, although he's a star athlete in the NFL.

Definitely a decent guy (in how he handled being arrested overall) I don't think he sweated it much because I'm sure that he would get out and off with no problem. After hearing the cops prior behavior and choices when arresting and pulling over others, I see why he was fired. As an investigation (when done correctly, fairly and professionally) supercedes whatever random folk think that have limited facts on the individuals overall behavior. Thank goodness that there are professional officers working daily with a decent approach and the quality of experience that has them discern whomever they're dealing with efficiently. Unfortunately, all cops aren't that way.

I also appreciate that Mr. Montgomery wasn't trying to weasel out of anything or pull any "don't you know who I am".
