@jdalefan you have to have in mind: when it came out it was able to deliver great results. After alls these years it's still as good, just in comparison with new models it's certainly not the best. And I think the idea of getting a pro camera for cheap cause it's old is quite nice.

Panasonic really killed it with the specs on these cameras, especially on the video side. Even if the prices at launch are a bit more expensive than competition, they are still prices at launch that in a year will be in line with all the other cameras.

Reason why you can change the size of the lvf is just in case you are wearing glasses, you can resize it to be able to see everything without taking your glasses off.

Will there be any kind of 3D tracking or something equivalent for these new cameras? Im a nikon shooter and I love my d500. I've had my eyes on this series of cameras for a while. If it had a good enough 3d tracking feature, id be more than willing to purchase it for my first full frame. only reason I havent gotten the d850 is the partial crop and the z series just leaves me wishing for more. my issue right now is that there are so many options and not all of them seem to be able to do what i need. 60fps in 4k is something ive been looking for a while now too and I've been unwilling to go under an aps-c sized sensor lmao call me spoiled. also i know this sounds silly but i was so excited to find out that this had illuminated back buttons, i loved that about the d500. Me personally im excited to see how this camera performs and i am especially hopeful that this will end my long struggle.

Check to see if they will have an adapter so you can use other brand lenses that aren't part of the L mount system. I've been looking at the d850 for my upgrade but the S1R has my attention. I'd have to see what glass they come out with and the prices on them.

As a GH5 user I must say when I upgrade one day these are definitely cameras I look forward to. Panasonic has just always been reliable especially for video when they say they do it they get it right. I’ve never had an instance where I’ve had to worry about my GH5. I get the micro 4/3 gripe with its terms of low light and depth of field but overall I’ve never had a complaint from me or a client or anyone that’s ever seen the footage so I’m happy they went to the full frame game and I can’t wait to see how it actually looks.

Glad they went with a tilty screen. Flippy screen on my G9 broke off... will break if you aren't really careful while a tipod plate is attached due to leverage against the plate at certain angles.

I had meeting with Panny representative here in Israel 4 days ago and along him bringing S1/S1R to us to check them, he mentioned about lenses and adapters. There will be EF adapter by 2020, as well as up to 44 lenses from all three members of L MOUNT ALLIANCE

Looks like Panasonic is taking the FF Wars seriously. The only real test would be between Sony's AF vs what ever this can do. Otherwise, I think this is going to dominate till Sony comes out with their next one. Canon and Nikon probably will always be one body behind the completion.

This Video is old but just for the sake of it Panasonic is one of the largest companies to produce image sensors and of course, the Image Sensor in the Panasonic Lumix is produced by *drum roll* Panasonic. They develop and built their own Sensors. Outside of Japan that is not widely known but Panasonic is a name in the Sensor Market and they produce _lots_ of Sensors. Most of them are not used in Consumer Cameras but they do exist. And the subsidary of Panasonic which is building those sensors also list them with all their specifications. So if you like the Sensor in the S1 or S1R, write Panasonic an Email and you can just buy on of these Sensors. They also do sell their Sensors to SIGMA (for whatever price that is unkown, maybe 0) which are used in the SIGMA fp. That also explains why Panasonic (and the SIGMA fp) are the only Cameras on the Market that use the Dual Base ISO Feature (which was developed by Panasonic) There are tons and tons of rumors in the Internet that the Sensors are build by Sony (and that the SIGMA fp Sensor is also by Sony). I don't know why and where they come from, but they are all wrong.

01:12 Both S1 and S1R doesn't have OLPF, only S1H has it. On that announcment article of 1/1/19, Panasonic said S1R doesn't have OLPF. But they didn't mentioned anything regarding OPLF in S1's sensor. Jarred must be presumed from it.

These are the first full frame cameras to offer an 8-shot hires, like Olympus and Panasonic M43 cameras. Sony and Pentax do 1-pixel stepping, which creates an image without de-Bayering, but it doesn't have the 1/2-pixel offset. Hasselblad does resolution enhancement on some of their MF cameras.

Some of the video features will need an extra price "software key" and maybe firmware download, like Panasonic did with V-Log on the GH4. They were unclear about the details...given the higher price of this gear, it would be informative to get a final word on this.

Yes you will have to pay for both 422 10bits and V-log when it will be released somewhere this year. You'll be able to record in 10bit on an atomos tho in the meantime. (And free if I say no mistake)

Minor quibble: it's a writing sin to use an acronym without spelling it out at least once, ideally on first use. It's a worse sin in spoken media because there's less advantage to saying "OLPF" instead of "optical low pass filter", vs. typing it.
