Just bought a 2024 4Runner off road premium for $47,350 …with only options I wanted. Very Lucky. KDSS, 4 low, high; rear locker, crawl, multi terrain,cameras side, front, 360, rear, etc. Put on WildPeak LT tires, rock rails, Uptop overland Bravo roof rack installed. Total cost around$51,300 with destination. GX550 great vehicle; however, could not justify the Overtrail cost and dealer markup, options added that I don’t want. Plus still need to install a good roof rack , rock rails, and wanted Wildpeak tires. Also wanted that proven V6 engine. Adding a suspension and lift in future for $3000. I am very happy. Have driven 2000 miles, drives great, KDSS makes a difference. Roof Rack very little wind noise, tires quiet, and getting about 19 mpg on highway.

Don’t need more power. Will have a unproven 4 cylinder turbo engine that will not be as reliable. Turbos run hotter , oil in engine elevated. Keeping my vehicle a very long time. No 4 cylinder for me.

This really makes tough to justify the Land Cruiser for buyers. I think most LC’s are going to be around $60k anyways despite Toyota saying mid 50’s. So the GX gets more power, better styling, nicer interior, probably quieter and likely better for road trips. So what advantage to the LC besides being around $5k less for a similar trim level?

Always enjoy watching your videos! Call me stupid, but I just leased my 4th GX460. Contemplated a lot whether to wait for the NEW GX, but decided on the Current GX. The dealer gave me $8K off the sticker of $66K. Some could say for obvious end of the year/model to get rid of the inventory, but with short 27 month lease and low payment, I think I can enjoy the current model and also look forward to the refresh of the new model by the time my lease is up. The pricing of the new GX is reasonable with all the upgrades and styling.

Hold on to the GX460. There will be inevitable teething troubles on this model but more importantly let the ADMs die as demand lessons over time. Dealers asking $5k markups on the new Tacoma already.

The GX 550 will eventually be a great vehicle over time, but caution should be exercised regarding any completely new model year, since inevitable changes will evolve as consumer feedback arrives back to the Lexius engineering staff. Another thing, there will be LONGGGGGG wait for the exact model & color configuration list that you desire, so if you want a 2024 GX 550 you will most likely get only what is delivered into the dealer inventory. I love the V8 460 GX and I like its older style looks since every vehicle will look dated over time as new changes appear over the years.

Very true- since the new GX 550 has been built and styled as an overland-type vehicle, it will complete with the Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser. If I was to be a serious off-roader, I would be hesitant to put a $70K GX vehicle on the trails when I could just as easily buy a 4Runner or Land Cruiser for about $40-50K. Just saying.....

Kirk, If you are looking for 'nerdy' points to raise about the GX here are a few: a) Why does an average Tundra have a more powerful version of the same 3.4 Turbo V6? b) Why does a GX have pop-out glass in the tailgate when the feature is not included in the more expensive LX? c) Why does a GX appear to have more generous second row seating space than the larger LX? If the new GX sells like gangbusters, demand for the new Land Cruiser will be impacted and pricing pressure will be reduced. If the new Land Cruiser sells like gangbusters, prices for the 'affordable' Land Cruiser FJ may remain at the bargain level they were intended to be. 🤞🤞In general, increased choices for Toyota 4X4 fans ought to be good news all around. 🥳🥳 In regard to the Rogue Sport 8:05 you mentioned, here in Canada they are sold under the name Qashquai. The GXs (J250) popup glass is direct transfer from the old GX460/LC Prado (J150 ) and the J200 has no popup or sliding glass so doesn't the J300 which is basically LX600.

She loved it ( the size ) first thing she said it's way smaller than our 2023 Sequoia. Good possibility I will have both Sequoia and GX at the same time for a year or two. Good video! We bought a new 2023 Premium plus with the sport package and the ML sound system in October 2022 and we love it. We prefer the look of the 2023 over this new one and I like the reliability over of the long term of a naturally aspirated V8. I've owned turbo vehicles and have not had good long term reliability out of them. We might drive it 4-5k miles per year so this one will be a very long term one for us.

I love the new GX and I also love the new Land Cruiser but my ultimate decision will be based on manufacturer's fuel requirements. Despite having the same engines with some models across the Lexus/Toyota brands like their 5.7L and 4.7L V8s, 3.6L V6s, etc., when that engine is in a Lexus it requires premium (91 octane and above) fuel where when in a Toyota it only requires regular (87 Octane). Where I am the price difference between the two grades is over $1/gallon so that's a huge difference. Yeah, I get that the same engine in Lexus is tuned a bit differently to squeeze at bit more HQ and TQ but it's marginal and barely noticeable outside of a dyno and only being done to justify the Lexus logo (also luxury brand shoppers like the privilege of paying more for the same thing). I've seen a ton of videos on the new GX/LC from all the usual automotive channels but not a single one mentioned the fuel requirements of them even when they get into the technical aspects of the vehicles. Do you know if the new GX requires 91+ and the LC requires 87? Why hasn't anyone asked Lexus/Toyota about that.

We’re not getting the new GX at least not anytime soon (we do have the current GX though). I feel like for the price I’d rather have an LC300 which is the better vehicle IMO. Stronger motor (409hp tune) and uses more aluminum in the body than the GX/Prado. If I wanted to save money the LC250 makes sense.
