It's basically a chain reaction.. That's why MBA from a great college matters as that gets you campus placement into BCG, McKinsey etc.. Once you have that stamp it helps get the next big job & then the next etc.. On other hand it's very difficult for outsiders to get into McKinsey Bain etc. even experienced guys cause those firms only prefer people with experience in similar companies!!

Tech role salary are usually very inflated. Commerce field salaries are not usually inflated because many dont provide stock options, etc. You can consider like 70-80% of CTC as base salary. So in hand will be like 1 to 1.3 LPM.
