I think some people don't realize that someone can look back on situations they were in and realize that they were experiencing abuse but not realize they were being abused while they were in the moment. At least that's true for me. Keep speaking your truth Holly!
@Fleur_de_Rosé3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely true! Especially when you love the malignant person and believe that they love you the same, too. It's harder to recognize the malignant manipulations going on. And when you do finally see it, it's soul destroying, just about. And then you see the manipulations everywhere and cannot unsee them, which is probably a good thing because it makes you realize that you must escape somehow. Most ppl don't have anyone to help them though, if the perpetrators are their family and the only social structure they've ever known.

What person isn't appreciating her for that? And who's the narcissist that we're talking about? I don't know anything about Holly besides a Q&A that I watched on this channel and what touched me was when she was explaining how life was at the place she lived and the guy that was her boyfriend it TOTALLY reminded of a cult-like atmosphere of control, brainwashing and taking away a woman's self-worth. And it touched me sooo much because my father started a cult when I was growing up and there sooo many similarities! I'm so glad to see that she seems to be doing great! I know it was a while ago and she at least got a platform out of it. It's much harder when the cult is not about having any fun at all, and you get disowned by all your family and the whole cult. But being controlled is being controlled, no matter what and ppl should be glad that she broke out of that type of toxic atmosphere.

@@Fleur_de_Rosé Most people do appreciate Holly, I just mean the haters she's referencing. The people who get "mad" when she calls put Playboy for being what is was. The comment sections of articles other "news" sources put out where they act as though she's playing the victim or changing her tune now, when in reality, she's subtly and not so subtly said this for years. No one specifically here on this thread. I'm just saying I truly don't understand how people can misunderstand her, when she so CLEARLY articulates her points. I feel people are committed to misunderstanding her because the truth about it all is uncomfortable for them 😕 I love Holly. I just get frustrated with people sometimes. Like if they LISTEN to what she's saying, it's explained, they just don't.

Holly, I am having a very bad night, and I feel like I need to let you know how much I really love your videos. I am currently 25, when girls next door came out I was 8 or 9. I have always had a really stressful life. Growing up I dealt with a lot of horrifying situations regarding my biological father. I always felt too grown for other kids, like they couldn't relate to how much more mature I had to be to survive my life. I also have always had a really bad issue with impending doom and anxiety if I am not actively doing or watching something. Even a lot of the time when I try to watch things, I still have room in my brain to think negative thoughts. When I was young, the girls next door was literally on my record because I NEEDED to watch y'all to distract my mind. I literally dove into your show like what I would do if I were there. TGND was a comfort show for me. I remember waking up to the theme song in the middle of the night from a nightmare because I left it on for myself if I got scared. Now, I am 25 and your videos are giving me the same comfort. I find you sooo comforting like something dear to me from childhood. I don't really have anyone in my life, so even though it's kind of pathetic, it's cool to watch these and get that comfort. ALSO, in saying this, I am trying to tell you that you're a very important person to a lot of people. I am sure I am not the only person who literally gets nurturing vibes and really looks up to you. You are, and have always been, a very wise woman. I hope that encourages your youtube career, but don't feel pressured to upload if you're not into it. If you ever question how TGND make you look, just remember that until I watched your videos rewatching the show, I completely MISSED how they were trying to represent y'all differently and just saw you as one of the smartest, most stunning, hardworking girls ever.

Holly, thank you for sharing your story and insightful look backs years later. Your story and explanation about living in a toxic environment really opens my eyes to maybe I've had that experience with my own narcissist father. All my life I just chalked it up to him bring challenging, misunderstood and ultimately wanting what was best for me. Even though he is always verbally abusive and manipulative, I'd always feel sorry for him and endure his treatment. Now I'm starting to see all of the many clues (thanks to your story) of how it can really negatively affect a person. I've got a long road ahead of me but I feel safer now knowing that it may actually not all be my fault and that I may actually be an okay person. Thank you, Holly.

I’m obsessed with all the spooky location vlogs and witch store hauls / reviews please do so many more. I’m really curious when you realized you were into witchcraft and in tune with the spirit world. I grew up in a very religious family. I’ve always been the black sheep and over the last 5 years I’ve really taken an interest in the occult/witchcraft/spirituality. My mom has told me some interesting stories of when she was into Wicca in high school but this was more recently. I was surprised because I was not allowed to watch or partake in anything Halloween or magical until I was in middle school. It’s to the point where I’m scared to talk about my interests and I keep my life very hidden from my family for that reason. So I’m basically asking if you grew up in it? Did you have anyone teach or guide you? Sorry for writing so much! I know you have a lot to read. Xo

I wouldn’t want to re-live my juniour-senior High School either (same school). I appreciate those days and that I lived them when I was younger but I didn’t have many friends from that point of my life I was excessively timid and severely bullied. I could not express myself or my true personality (so had to stay timid) because I was consistently criticized. The reason for this was mainly because many of the people at school could not relate to my lifestyle because my father is wealthy therefore some were envious, some were trying to be associated (as fake friends) and some felt I was a show off by doing normal things I’d do or eating normal things I’d eat I felt bad to live in my own normal skin. Btw: I have gone on to be successful in my career and I still want no parts / association with those people even if some have reached out trying to reconnect but it traumatizes me that they do because I’m at an excellent place in my life and don’t want them ruined
