@Cause I Said So Not necessarily. WCW Nitro was the highest rated show on TNT when it was cancelled. After Time Warner merged with AOL and Ted Turner was ousted, the new management cancelled wrestling because they were embarrassed of it, they just didn't want it on their network regardless of the ratings. The only reason Dynamite is on TNT is because the Tony Khan is a buddy of the former president of TNT. That guy is gone now. They're safe now, but eventually the show will be cancelled, it's inevitable.

The Engie That Cried Nope You hit the nail right on the f**kin head bud.. I said the same thing when they were first called weenies and flinched when Best Friends fake punched them in that backstage segment, but as soon as I saw the titantron video and the hotdog t-shirts, I nearly lost my mind, but it was confirmed that FTR are p**sies. They have been booked atrociously and have been more embarrassed and ridiculed in their short time in AEW, than they had ever been in WWE, including the leaked, repackaging of them, new attire that Vince proposed to them (obviously only because he was being typical VKM who has to bury talent if they refuse to resign with him) .. it’s unbelievable. In my opinion, it doesn’t even matter that they’re undefeated tag team champs right now.. they’ve been booked like weak, amateur fools and will end up jobbing to one of the worst, overrated, god awful tag teams in history, the Young F**ks.. unreal boys. The grass is definitely not always greener on the other side..

Vince is in many ways “out of touch” and has the awful tendency of repeating garbage booking and his opinions and decisions of what he believes is “good shit” is not my taste and annoys the shit out of me, but he does and has given talent the opportunities to be creative to a certain extent. I don't think the ex-WWE guys are there just because they hoped for, or expected, better booking. I think it probably also had to do with the culture of WWE -- both in terms of the locker room and the boardroom. Vince & company are sick, twisted, Trump-supporting, carnies. And that's probably the nice way of saying things. I can understand wanting to get as far away from them as quickly as possible at the first opportunity -- and that's what AEW provided, an opportunity. Now, could AEW be better? Obviously. Will they get better? I think that's still a possibility. They've got the long term TV contract, they're smart about some of the media angles, and at the very least they've got enthusiasm. Now they've just got to start using the talent better and improve their booking. And I still think that's possible. I largely agree with Corny, but I'm not quite as cynical and down on everything. I think they can step it up and improve the show if they start to listen to some of the common sense that Cornette is putting out there. ALSO, I think it's worth noting that sometimes they DO listen to Jim. For instance, Miro didn't wear that Mickey Mouse t-shirt again and looked much more like a monster after Jim explained why wearing the Mickey Mouse shirt was bullshit.

I think he's a fairly shitty person beyond his artistic vision or personal talent, such as it is. And that's why I think people don't mind getting away from him even if they get paid less on a worse show. And, again, I'll reiterate, I still think AEW has a lot of potential and that the show could get its shit together if Khan didn't entertain every stupid idea that was presented to him. They just need better booking and someone to explain how to construct matches.

I totally agree. I am a big fan of old school wrestling, but I just don't see what is so special about FTR. They are solid in the ring, but there is nothing about them that draws my attention. They have a generic look, generic promos, and they don't do anything really interesting in the ring. I think they are extremely overrated, and have been since the beginning. I guess the one thing they do well is tag team psychology. When it comes to that, they are the best in the ring today. Tag team psychology really doesn't exist much in modern wrestling. I guess that is why people like them so much.

As someone who is in their key demo and is on the younger side of it i don't get the bucks like what type of heels are they meant to be are they meant to be cool heels ( which doesn't work ) or badass heels ( like eddie kingston ) Neither of this works for them because they are terrible actors and when FTR has a match with them the match should be over in 4 minutes after FTR beats the crap out of them

Angelico's a weird one. Cause his style is alright on its own (it doesn't pair with Evans in any way whatsoever). And even fairly unique, no one else in AEW does the crazy ju-jitsu tie you in knots stuff. Being mid-lower card though, he's not, or shouldn't be dominating people enough to actually apply a lot of it. When he's over on Dark, it seems fine because you've got this cocky dancing douche who is dominating opponents he should be dominating.

My guess is he's naturally comfortable tagging with Evans because of their time in Mexico, but IMO he should just be re-characterized as "Adam Bridle" and given an Upper Midcard slot. He's a tremendous athlete that would benefit from being paired with workers who have some better psychology. But that's just my arm-chair booker take.

One thing I have to say Jim - I like the experience / background you bring to your reviews BUT I do find it funny that you said AEW won't last 3 months and now that they have a 4 year extension, and just passed a year, you say they likely won't be around in 5 years. That's quite the jump. Because you don't like the product and most the followers don't, when a show is hitting top 10 in the key advertiser demo every other week, they are not going anywhere anytime soon. It's just a question or whether the product is good to us and the cult of Cornette. I also don't get that people say you add 150,000 viewers to the ratings because people go and watch the show AFTER you review it to see if you were correct. Someone like you who know how LIVE ratings work knows that if people go and watch AFTER you review (to see if you were correct), that has no impact on LIVE ratings. If you were doing a watch along that would make sense BUT again, if I go and watch to see if you're review is correct, that is a recording and doesn't impact LIVE ratings so...that all said, I still love your reviews and rants.
