Dave has a certain condition, and I'm not shitting on it, because I feel for those who fall on it, but - there's a spectrum. EQ is real, and Dave is like 60 and still doesn't realize he's not one of the boys. He hasn't realized that the "modern wrestlers" realize that financial gain can be had from appealing to his lesser traits, and it's sad. He legit thinks he's giving the deepest cuts in wrestling, when in reality, he's just wasting 30 years of journalism to feel accepted, and like he's somebody that belongs. Spoiler - Kenny isn't the Circ De Solay of wrestling, Collision is growing for a reason, and the public wants to see a cool story we can relate to. Nobody cares about a Tiger Driver 86 with a vintage of Tuesday, but here we are. Autism is real, and a spectrum, and I'm not hating on anybody who falls on said spectrum. But Dave is like 60 and still saying "it's still real to me, damnit" and making Jim into the bogeyman. Calm down, man.

Getting old is unavoidable, we all age out of things sooner or later, I'm experiencing it more and more as the things I've always been into are focusing on younger audience and I'm finding less and less of it appeals to me. Change is much harder for people on the spectrum to deal with but I'm making the concerted effort to navigate those seas as gracefully as I can without ruffling too many feathers, plain old life experience taught me that. @Davehhhh Жыл бұрын
What happened to Dave is he starting losing all his sources in wrestling. The 1st dagger was CM Punk returning in WWE in Chicago many years ago where he was wrong. Then, it was with Bryan Alverez "I'll tell you off air". Then it was all the UFC content "we gotta talk about Conor" McGregor No matter what happened in the news that day, we gotta talk about "Conor". At the same time, we gotta talk about New Japan. I don't know how many times I heard G1 standings that I didn't care for. Look I understand WWE sucked 2010-2021 (just a rough estimate, don't go at me for a certain year). I understand the content on TV sucked but Dave started going nuts. There were arguments about Daniel Bryan and whether he was over or the "yes" chant. His reporting started getting it wrong more often or often just misreport it and not apologize. Look I understand WWE was changing stuff all the time, but his reporting was getting worse. Bryan was the worst because his "sources" were often wrong so didn't help Dave. Then Dave started to get weird. Saying Bailey has short shelf life on her NXT character when she was brought up to Raw but worded it really bad. Then it's the way he said things about some of the women in WWE. Then the Roman Reigns being out with Leukemia that Dave didn't report very well. Let's not even get started with his Twitter and how he copied Kevin Owens at the time and just kept it since. So Dave being in a bad light, bad reporting and bad sources used Omega and Young Bucks to help him look better. He needed better sources and he needed something to look good because Bischoff and Prichard were bashing him weekly in their podcasts. Dave can't admit when he's wrong. Dave went down this road AEW and he won't change now. He needs those sources.

Is it just impossible for anyone on Team Elite, which includes Meltzer, to give accurate descriptions of what happens around them or because of them? It is seriously frightening how delusional that camp and its fans are. The CM Punk stuff was extremely obvious what happened yet those pricks blamed Punk for getting mad at their leaking to Dave. Now, Meltzer claiming that Jim took 100's of shots at him before he took any is so beyond ridiculous it defies logic and reality. I've listened to Jim's podcasts for years and Cornette hadn't taken any actual mean-spirited shots at Dave until he was pissed at Meltzer taking his own shots. Meltzer, Hangman, Omega, the Bucks, the elite fans, and anyone who would pay to be part of a private message board should all grow up and stop either gaslighting people or falling for gaslighters.
@WarGhoulKharas Жыл бұрын
No. They need to gaslight and attack because it takes away the sting from legitimate criticism. It's what Amazon, Disney, and Lucasfilm were doing: deliberately fan-baiting. If they were to take responsibility, they'd have to take responsibility for everything they did wrong. Instead, they just gave themselves a pay raise as the ratings stagnate and they lose money from their video game.

WWE is "sports entertainment" and AEW isn't, even though it has dinosaurs, kidnappings, attempted murders, teleportation, aliens, Ghostbusters, Space Jam, matches with video game consoles, matches over video game consoles, matches over mom's minivan, beer pong during matches, dance routines during matches, matches with tubs of orange juice, etc. You have to ignore what your senses tell you to get on that train.

Jim I commented on the Chuck Taylor fake grenade spot about ten years ago too. I’m convinced Chuckie and a bunch of his friends had accounts at the time defending this stuff as the vitriol I was met with was intolerant and insufferable. Years later I’ve been proved right about the stupidity of it all having a negative impact on the business but TK somehow thought it was a good idea to pay these guys six figures a year when they’ve never drew a dime

The Bucks really put the mouth to Dave once Dave's Dad died. Then also naming moves after Dave and Dave's Das really made him hard.

You’d think Cornette’s enemies would learn not to mess with him, but then I remembered that AEW wrestlers and flunkies can’t learn. By the way, “you’re supposed to be my friend” that angle was done better by Batista.

Here's the difference between Jim and Dave to put it simply: Jim's been there and done everything while Dave is just in his office typing away at his keyboard and complaining like a kid who didn't get a second dose of ice cream about why people don't like the Young Bucks and Omega. Ole Anderson even put it perfectly too by saying this exact quote: "I was in the wrestling business, you're just one of the people who pretends to be".

The thing is, it has become clear to me reading Dave's twitter wars, that the guy can't stand it when anyone challenges him. He hates it that people might say he is wrong or don't agree with him. Dave thinks being a wrestling "Journalist" (I use that word lightly) means he can do no wrong.

I discovered this podcast yesterday and it’s now my favorite podcast, Jim Cornette is amazing and his takes are hilarious and incredible, he needs to be inducted in the HOF just for the work he’s done for wrestling for over 40 years.

The reason Daves message board is behind a paywall is because He's more likely to have subscribers who agree with his biased opinions. If it was free he'd get a lot more hate, less subscribers and more people would figure out his bs and that makes him uncomfortable. So that's why everyone has to pay for Unke Dave to read your opinion.
@MiketheratguyMultimedia Жыл бұрын
This whole thing really is a shame. Jim used to be close to Dave, Jericho, and others but the bridges have all been burned because of disagreements about the quality and direction of wrestling. I wish that each side could just agree to disagree and still respect each other as people, it's sad to see long friendships die.

I'm sorry, but how bad of an inferiority complex does Dave really have? Does he realize that sniping at those who are more successful than him isn't going to alleviate it, but instead make it worse?

I have attached this type of comment to several JCE videos discribing Dave Meltzers bias towards The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega and it needs reoeating here....Dave Meltzer had probably spent his whole career being shunned away by wrestling locker rooms or on a good day being given uninerested responses....and then here cones The Elite all these years later who offer him a seat next to them and a near beer from their cooler....that right there is the main source of Dave Meltzers bias
@williamthomas5215 Жыл бұрын
Does Dave not get that Jim has over 10,000 hours of audio online and of the 100+ he’s talked about Dave if you listen to the first 50 hours of the 100+ he was still complimentary. As a matter a fact, there’s literally a video from 4 years ago on KZbin called “Jim Cornette on Dave Meltzer” and Jim said “I’ve had all I can stands and I can’t stands no more” in which Jim snapped about Dave constantly digging at him.

It's probably an unfortunate reality of dealing with people who are somewhere on the spectrum, or at the very least, obsessive-compulsive. Every disagreement is a personal attack because what they fear most is rejection. I don't think I'm out of line in drawing that parallel.
