@@migrations the criticism is actually pretty light imo. If you take a step and look at it, AEW had a backer richer than Vince, network and streaming connections comparable with any major league sports franchise, as well as all the ancillary stuff; stadium connections, the staff infrastructure etc. and they came along when wwe was super boring and unpopular. Then they used all this to make a tv show that is an indie wrestling show and took 1-1.5 million fans and turned it into 500,000. It’s been really really bad.
@HkFinn8318 күн бұрын
Btw you enjoying dynamite isn’t a measure of its success, same as me not enjoying isn’t a measure of its lack of success. The measures of success are the number of tv or streaming viewers and the live attendance, and also the ppv. The ppv has actually been a place where they have had success. That audience works for a ppv market much better than it does a tv/streaming product. That small and shrinking audience that loves everything AEW does is a hardcore, almost soccer fan like niche who cheer for their team no matter how they play or how entertaining it is. Not only for a better future for the company and thus your own career, but for basic respect for wrestling. People should stand up for wrestling legends if they're being done wrong, like Punk was (no wrestler should be fired for fights or insults, especially a legend like Punk). Omega said that he wanted to make up with Punk the night the beef exploded. He said "if it weren't for a complete other factor, we would have been able to have that talk on the night of Brawl Out", which implies that he tried to fix things. Collision while Punk was there has been the best wrestling show i've seen since at least 2009. A lot of people are liking the current raws and smackdowns, and I like HHH and WWE, and a lot of the wrestlers in WWE, but these days i find myself only watching the CM Punk and Kevin Owens segments. And most of the time i'll keep up with the Bloodline stuff (i'm a big fan of Roman, Fatu, and Solo) too, and rarely i might also watch some of the other segments, but otherwise i'm not really that interested. I found Collision way better than these current raws and smackdowns. I would be hooked on those episodes from start to finish. Not only did they have CM Punk there every week, who, in addition to just being CM Punk and always being great, had this unreal aura to him after how he came back on that debut episode of Collision and delivered that fire promo, but they had other actual interesting storylines, like the stuff with the Bullet Club (who, especially Jay White, were being built up so good), and Ricky Starks. And it was hella cool when some of those guys interacted with Punk, and there were so many interesting possible directions things could go, in terms of possibe feuds and storylines. And the tag team stuff was actually good too. I wonder why Collision was so good? There was a rumor that Punk was booking it or had a lot of say in the booking, and i haven't watched Collision since they fired Punk, but i heard it sucks now, so it makes sense that that was the case.. Aside from the booking though, the biggest thing that made it great was Punk. Punk is great now on these WWE shows like he's always been, but he was on another level on those Collision shows. He seemed like he was possessed. He had this new style and look, and he had this huge chip on his shoulder. Looking back, he had that same feel and vibe to him that he had in 2013 in WWE (his best year there in my opinion). Or that prime Goldberg had when he came to WWE TV and feuded with The Rock. Or that Hollywood Rock had when he came back and had that run for a couple months before going back to Hollywood, or that Final Boss Rock had/has. Even though Punk wasn't at Collision long enough to have any long feuds or anything, that was still my favorite version of CM Punk ever. AEW should've took that CM Punk and had him beat MJF to unify the belts, or just made his belt an official 2nd world title, and kept what they had on Collision going, and eventually incoporate Punk on Dynamite too, in a feud against Omega (who i love and think would be a great rival for Punk, by the way) and The Elite. The thing with CM Punk now is that he's brought out such good sxhit from Drew Mcyintyre and Seth Rollins. But, and if anyone else was watching Collision too, i bet they'd agree with me, that AEW situation/The Elite brought out even more from Punk! That's how unique, and also big, that situation was. So we could've gotten an all-time great, and very possibly the best, CM Punk run, an exciting wrestling show (Collision) every week for the first time in so long, and an all-time great feud that i think would've been so good that it could've actually made AEW big, and even possibly made wrestling more popular in general. AEW, in my opinion, would've had to start doing way better with their advertising too though, for those last 2 things to have possibly happened. I'm sad that AEW threw all of that potential down the drain... For what? Because Kahn wanted to fire him and make a statement that not hurting people's feelings is really important? What the heck did they do man... And i just want to say here, that Omega is cool, unlike The Bucks (who ran a victory lap around the ring the night Punk got fired) and Kahn. He said that he wanted to make up with Punk the night the beef exploded. He said "if it weren't for a complete other factor, we would have been able to have that talk on the night of Brawl Out", which implied that he tried to fix things. The thing that an incredible amount of IWC marks that were dog-piling on Punk after Brawl-Out just loved to leave out was the fact that the Bucks and Omega are EVP’s and even the act of storming into the talents locker room, looking for a fight could be something that could legally come back to bite them in the a**. Even that would be worthy of an NDA for Tony I imagine. I guess we’ll never truly know what went down though. Maybe one day Punk will be able to, but it’d still just be his version (although his version of All-In was proven to be true, by Tony himself).

I used to think that Cody leaving hurt but was survivable and that the Punk saga is what sent AEW plummeting. My stance has slightly changed in hindsight. I do agree now that losing Cody was more of the first domino of AEW’s implosion than anyone realizes at the time. Because when Cody left they lost his behind the scenes leadership and sense of direction. They lost that element of ambition and the idea that they wanted to grow as a company as well. Losing Cody was a death blow in a lot of ways but MAINLY because when Cody left that REALLY only left Tony Khan to fully take the steering wheel of AEW and that has proven to be the most fatal thing that has happened for this company. The Punk saga was simply snapping everyone out of the honeymoon phase of the company and letting everyone realize the reality of it is that the company had tremendous leadership/direction and future planning/proofing issues (stemming from horrid booking) issues that so many fans wrote off at the beginning as “problems they would grow out of” but never did. If shit didn’t hit the fan with Punk and cause this disillusionment it would’ve happened with someone else. If there’s one thing I think we can agree on is that where AEW is at now was inevitable with Tony steering the ship. Cody leaving was a crippling blow but the Punk saga let everyone see how much that loss really hurt in some ways. It should have been a huge wake up call but unfortunately for them I don’t know that this is a lesson that they’ve learned from or will even survive long enough to cultivate by the time Tony does realize (but again he won’t).

How many tickets they sold, how much was the price for the tickets at each show this includes PPV and live shows. 2. Then include renting these arenas, which i can guess isn't around a four digit number but rather a five or six. Also include whatever percentage the owners of the buildings get from these shows. 3. Include also travel expenses from airfair, rental cars, hotels, and security as well along with staff (yes WBD pay for producing the shows but they're not paying for talent, their travel expenses, etc.) 4. Include also merchandise sales which is probably not a lot but lets say for the sake of argument they managed to sell half of their products (despite not seeing people wear the stuff on TV) 5. Also dont forget the equipment for all their crazy gimmick matches, licensing music, and fixing any broken ring stuff. 6. And finally, guess the money the talent are getting per year. Calculate it all and we might get an idea of how much they made and how the losses will be.

That's all been done already by wrestlenomics. Brian and Jim have already talked about all the estimates. The company hasn't made a dime in their existence because of how much Tony spends on it.

There are so many guys/women who were white hot in AEW that eventually fell off to the point where the crowd barely reacts to them.

This is America and everyone is deserving of a comeback story but I don’t think we’ve seen the worst of AEW/Tony for there to be a comeback lol
