@My198112011 I'm sorry my friend but must disagree with one part of your statement. Omar Little was definitely not in the same ballpark as Vic or Tony. In the end Tony and Vic have ZERO redeeming qualities. Vic was so vile but throughout the series he still had loyalty for the Strike Team. But in the end, that goes out the window as well. In my opinion, what he did to Ronnie was worse than Shane killing Lem. He sent Ronnie to prison for the rest of his life. And a life sentence for a former cop is hell on earth. And Tony was just a total scumbag only loyal to himself. Omar was more like an antihero. He had a code that he stuck to. He also had people that he truly loved and cared about, and people loved him as well. A good example of this was Butchie. When he learned about Butchie's death, it crushed him. He also never turned his gun on a citizen. Only people in the game.

@@ppiorkowski1502 - Damn right, it's insulting to Omar Little to put him in the same category as Tony & Vic. Omar could be a cold blooder killer but only to someone who deserved it. When he gut-shot brother Mouzoune and then realized that he had been set up, the smart play would have been to still finish the job. But he didn't, and called an ambulance, knowing full well that it could mean that he would have to deal with him later, and that this time Mouzoune would be ready for him. That's the kind of guy he is.

So why your getting pissy with me is disappointing . 2) the Shield was CONSISTENTLY overlooked for awards . Acting wise only chiklis won a major award (after season 1 ) which was arguably his worst season portraying Vic . It was awesome but he made Vic an even better character in the subsequent seasons which he was NEVER nominated again other than season 2 . The only other major nominations were for CCH and Glen close in season 4 . Walton , Forrest Whitaker and Anthony Anderson where never even nominated for a single award and they were NEVER nominated for a Emmy for outstanding drama or writing (they were nominated in season one for writing ) . Is this show just too brutal for most people? It seems to have gained some stature with time but I’ve never understood why it’s so under the radar

Terry was a fed. Planted. Lem was their best friend and beyond loyal. He jumped the gun. He didn't ask vic because he knew vic would say no. Because it was wrong. Beyond a last resort

@el34glo59 yeah but I think Shane's last line here was spot on. If it came down to it I believe Vic would have killed Lem. Look what he ended up doing to Ronnie. That's far worse than what Shane did to Lem. Shane killing Lem was almost like a mercy kill. Lem's life was fucked. He's a cop heading to prison with basically a bounty on him. And Antwon Mitchell didn't want to just kill these guys. He wanted to torture them. Shane probably knew this best about Antwon. It was either this Fate or Lem would have to snitch on the Strike Team. When you factor these things in it almost feels like Shane had no choice. But Lem wouldn't have snitched on his boys. He would have endured the torture before ratting them out. Lem was the most decent one out of all of them. It was heart breaking what happened to him.

Anyone saying The Wire is on The Shields level, we'll you're delusional. The Shield is a Absolute MASTERPIECE. Not just for its time, of all time. The Shield and True Detective season 1 are the best things to ever be put of television. And they will never be matched.

I don't agree, when I watched The Sheild it was on top but the wire surpassed it. But you know what, they are different kind of shows. Same theme but totally different. I was more captivated by the wire but to each their own.
