I was there, with my daughter, my sister and 2 great friends , also from SA - the energy in the crowd was unbelievable - the cheers when Ladysmith Black Mambazo came onto the stage and then Hugh Masekela as well - it was just a once in a lifetime moment - 10's of thousands of people walking home through Hyde Park singing " Nah nanana Nah nanana NAH ! unforgettable

Not just this song, but also Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes and Graceland -- Bakithi is the backbone of the whole album. He's the perfect accompaniment and counterpoint for Paul's sense of rhythm and the bridge to Black Mombazo. But in all these Hyde Park videos, for some reason, Bakithi gets about five seconds of screen time, total.

It’s really quite amazing!! The entire band is at his disposal! As well as the crowd!! What this means is that he’s a musical leader , as in a conductor (if you will) … but it’s in such a fun way ! I had the opportunity to attend a performance by Paul Simon in Taipei around 2013. Seeing the size of this crowd, I now realize how extremely lucky I was to be at the concert. There couldn’t have been more than 1,000 seats - every one of them taken.

Worked on one of his documentaries of how the songs with came about... his on and off friendship with childhood friend Art Garfunkel. And how the South African band had to wade through the constraints of apartheid to record their songs. It's a documentary that deserves a Netflix Special cos it's an emotional roller-coaster type of documentary and tells you how great humans can be when we show a little love!

Paul Simon: there won't be another like him. I always love seeing people of all ages showing up to shows like this. Kids, teenagers, people who were born well before these songs were even written just having fun and join in on the whole experience.
