Please tell Becca that, if she sears the meat, she can deglaze the pan and use that result instead of using canned broth in her recipe. Deglaze with water, and, as an option a little wine. Bring it up to the volume requred with more water, e.g. if the recipe calls for 1 cup of broth bring the deglazing liquid up to 1 cup. Much better flavor and less salt than canned, and you won't waste all those yummy bits. I do this all lthe time.

Hi Ian. 'm usually just a lurker on here, but today I have a question. You mentioned that you're in an apartment. Is there another apartment below you? or are you on the main floor? I ask because when I lived in an apartment, I got complaints because my sewing machine was in one of my bedrooms and the people downstairs said it was too loud when I sewed at night. Just curious as to whether or not you've had this problem. I had to move my sewing to my living room so as to accommodate my downstairs neighbours.

I'm in a basement apartment so I don't have to worry about my machine making too much noise to the person below me. When I lived on the 2nd floor I was worried about bothering the people below me.
