Thanks for documenting all this footage From Helene! Your Videos are the best quality and Cover What People need to See... Geraldine is one of the Nicest People I have ever met and I always like her house...I use to work with her & Im so grateful she is safe and sorry to see her home got damaged... Maybe after they kinda get some of her land back the best they can ,as you described in video, and a contractor gets foundation restored it will be okay..... I mean its been there since 1947 they did something right when they built it...

I had to wait a bit before I remarked on this video because I couldn't find the words at first, realizing I'm sorry about your Grandma's house wasn't enough. I could hear the anxiety in your voice. It's unbelievable that it still stands and seems to be strong bones and not as much damage inside as I expected, though part of the house is gone. I cannot imagine what it feels like to walk thru the house with old memories knowing what has happened. What a personal video but so important to show, so that others can see just what has happened to so many. Not only damage or loss of home, but loss of property that use to be 40 feet from the river and is now right there. Thank you for sharing another very personal moment of tragedy.

Thanks so much for watching. Not gonna lie, sharing this one was something I debated on doing at all. Not sure they will be able to repair things but glad to be able to walk through it knowing her neighbors lost everything and others lost even more. Lots of memories in them walls...

Seeing your Grandma's house is depressing and haunting. Very thankful no one was home here, but knowing how many others weren't so lucky 😢 is just devastating to my core. It has to be very difficult to see it so changed. I truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Praying for you, and others affected. I hope you get some resolve to all of this. ❤😑

Wow!! This was an amazing video of your mamaw’s house and how much soil the river took from the banks of the river. Seeing the layers in the ground is amazing and it almost a way the excavators can recreate the banks again. I hope the house can be saved.😊

I live up in rogersville but lived in Unicoi for a short period. My family and I drove down to Erwin on the 30th to donate some supplies. We decided to go take a quick look and actually saw your grandmas house. I have a picture with the garage still smashed on the side. It broke my heart and still does to this day driving to asheville every week. Long road to recovery ❤

I want you to stop thinking you are in a safe area away from water. The highest point on the East coast of U.S.A. Mt. Mitchell just got partly disgtroyed. Get a clue here . Man made weather disasters will continue to happen in all areas. You will be on your own to survive just like we are .

Of course living in Florida the dream is always a beach house but after many many storms I would never. Maybe a pond on my property. Beautiful house thank you for sharing.

Im sorry to hear/see the damage to your grandmother's house but im so happy its still there! I have floated past there hundreds of times while fishing, i never in my wildest dreams thought the nolichucky could get that high. I really hope you can repair her house. Do you have any idea what year it was built, and/or the one downstream that was washed away? Im curious if they were beuilt before i 26

Really appreciate that, fingers crossed it'll work out. It was built in 1947 and the other home was built in 1972 according to zillow. But yeah, both were there before the interstate was built.

Wow!! That's crazy, especially looking at the layering of dirt & rock underneath the house, where the sidewalk ends. insane How the river completely rerouted itself! 😢

3:13 “anniss” = “and this” (I am from Maryville, TN, raised by my great grandparents, so this accent is heartfelt) I truly hate that Helene hurt so many people, no matter how detrimental, it is no competition, but I truly wish I had the means to help these folks. All I can give are prayers and a comment on KZbin but nonetheless my thoughts are with them. 😢

How can folks know if the fill dirt and rocks are done correctly. Will risk of future damage affect insurance. Back fill not done correctly can cause future damage. Is there a way to get professionals to come survey and test the landslides. What about the new way water is flowing on the land. How do you stop erosion to driveways and roads. Just wondering how folks can be safe in the future if land is not stable.

The house can be fixed, not a problem. The problem isn’t that. With the loss of land will your lot still be considered buildable and liveable? Will you be able to obtain and afford insurance?
@Offroadviking
@Offroadviking 11 күн бұрын
Great questions, as far as the loss of land goes...I spoke with an individual last night at the church located further down the road. They spoke to the group that will be coming in to restore the river banks. Property should be returned to a familiar pre flood form....now as far as insurance goes, I have no clue. Insurance companies being insurance companies I would be willing to bet prices will go up. How much? No clue....but as that info becomes more apparent from folks directly dealing with it I will try to share that info with you guys in later videos. Thanks so much for watching and commenting

Yeah I’m not sure how it will work or if it will even happen to be honest. Just wanted to get some shots of the property as it is just in case they do fix it or in case it has to be torn down eventually.
