What I’ve sometimes noticed is that when they blow mold the tank (some have) mold edges on the hose nipple. I’ve sat with an exacto knife and an Emory board to make it perfect so it won’t leak.

Good old plastic parts. I guess 10 years service is not bad. Air filter in wrong is bad news especially if you live in a dusty place, like dirt roads. Engine damage from grit and grime for such a simple air filter install. Thanks for the videos. Good job on the repair.

Great vid bro thank you. I have this same issue but idk if it’s the expansion tank or not yet. I’m gonna try to replace the hose first but if it’s not the hose and the tank itself do I need to buy a whole new hose again ?

I fixed the coolant leak at the degas/expansion tank neck by replacing the O-Ring inside of the 90 degree elbow. National/Precision Nitrile Rubber (NBR) O-Ring - 214 $1.29 Found the bad OEM 11 year O-Ring had flattened on the inner circumference. The entire O-Ring was more of a square shape now after many years and heat cycles. Measurements confirmed the condition. Width measured 3.49mm. The inner side to outer side measured 3.06mm. New replacement O-Ring measured 3.79mm

Leaking because of poor quality plastic at 10 years old, maybe that's acceptable, but I (my son) warped the head on a less than, 6-year-old Ford. The turbo coolant return nipple cracked (at the tank) and leaked coolant, which overheated the engine, on a car with less than 60K miles on it. I don't necessarily think this is just an issue with Ford, it's a "Value engineering" thing, where they build them to fail, after a certain amount of time (also known as "Engineered obsolescence"), so that you will buy more cars. What is a Ford thing, is Ford had a recall and repair of overheating damaged cars (because of a class-action lawsuit) on this part in Europe, but not the US, and told me to pound sand. Thank goodness for Bar's stop-leak, which stopped the head gasket leakage.

Ford is way more prone to those type of issues. They Rube Goldberg the shit out of everything. This is a perfect example. Can't have a coolant reservoir. Ford needs a degas bottle. Three connections, which is nine more failure points (both ends of the hose, and three hoses). Ford is KISS adverse. Great work for those that turn a wrench for a living though.

How much does the new tank replacement cost? I've ordered a new hose but now I'm worried it will still leak if I don't replace the tank.

Was the hose enough or did it continue leaking ??
@robbieeades19562 жыл бұрын
@Brandon Liddiard it continued to leak so I wound up replacing the tank with a new one. That stopped the leak there but now have a new leak from the top radiator hose at that Y connector. It's those sorry quick connect fittings. I found the tank on ebay.

Would this apply to an 09 5.4? The coolant overfill tank has a different style of cap. I believe I have a slow leak but not seeing overheat and or coolant on the ground. A leak down preasure test was done by Firestone upon doing a flush but didn’t advise on where it may be coming from.

I have a 2012 F150 5.0 XLT with 215,000 miles on it. I just replaced the coolant reservoir (Dorman from O'Reilly) and the coolant hose (Motorcraft from O'Reilly) that goes to the reservoir and I took it for a spin but I'm still getting a small amount of leakage when I rub my finger under it. I made sure it snapped in place but it isn't as tight as I'd like it to be. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that but I don't know what to do next. Any suggestions would be great before I drive 500 miles back home for spring break, thank you!

@stephenpijnnaken963 Жыл бұрын
@@esdrasmendez6559 I ended up swapping the metal clips. I think I might’ve bent the clip a tad to get a tighter fit. If it still leaks and you replaced the coolant reservoir and the hose maybe try changing the o ring. Just make sure to use the silicone paste. Hope it works out

Been having a squealing noise issue with my 2014 f150 after I’ve replaced the belts, pulleys and tensioners. The noise occurs after my truck has been sitting for at least an hour and it goes away after about a minute or two but it’s starting to get really irritating and makes my truck sound like shit. @THEMOWERMEDIC1 I'll stop by my nearest Craftsman tool store or the nearest Binford Tool Company store or the nearest Harbor Freight store and buy it, personally wrap it with a bow on top, and break in your house or single wide trailer at night, and place it under your Christmas tree🎄 as a gift 🎁 from your personal Santa. The professional hose clamp tool is not expensive. Stop buying beer, tattoos and cigarettes for one or two days in a single week, and BINGO YAHOO MOUNTAIN DEW, you'll have more than enough money 💰 to buy a whole set of them to pass down to your great great great great grandchildren. 👍

@THEMOWERMEDIC1 The average Joe spends more money 💰 on porn, tattoos, cigarettes, Pepsi-Cola, chewing tobacco, corndogs, trips to the local Marijuana shops, strip clubs, and McDonald's than what the single AFFORDABLE hose clamp tool costs at Harbor Freight, the nearest Craftsman or Binford tool company store charges for one. Even average Joe's and Betty's have enough pride and satisfaction in themselves to buy tools professionally made for the job. Ever hear the phrase?: "There's a tool conveniently made for every job you'll ever need to do." Did you ever also hear about this phrase? "God gave you a brain, use it 🙏 more than once in a while for positive things, and to make your life easier other than get it pickled most of the time."
