SUP Y’ALL?! Gosh, while I was editing this one and hearing my comments about the underwater tones/sadness while knowing about the tragic incident that the video was paying tribute to (accordingly to the interesting theory that I read), I couldn’t believe how clear-cut their subliminal message of the video was.😮 That’s how good Red Velvet is. I can totally see why they were labeled the game changers when they debuted👏🏼

In the comment sections of the music video there is one with time stamps in it, each one telling a part of the story on those students last moments before going to the afterlife, it explains the scenes very well and what was happening in the mv. hope you check it again!😁 Love your reactions😌👌✨

There’s a part that tugs at me every time in the heartstrings, and that’s when Seulgi is walking into the hall at the end as the lights are turning off. When someone pointed out that the door had a knob outside, but not inside and how that kind of personified the idea of walking into the afterlife knowing there is one way in, but no way out. That just hits differently and it really shows the ingenuity behind the directors’ way of thinking.

It's a double homage, too. Not only does it reference the ferry disaster, but the song also references the Chilseok story of Jiknyeo & Gyeonwu, which is the Korean equivalent of the Tanabata/Vega & Altair story. It's about lost love, in any sense you want to take it in, whether it's an allegory of the Chilseok Story or the Ferry Disaster. Also, the Korean name of OOTN is July 7th, further solidifying the Chilseok/Tanabata connection (Tanabata always starts on July 7th, while Chilseok is a little after that date due to the Korean Calendar being different with the Gregorian Calendar). It's just a testament to RV's songwriters to make the song have meaning for either interpretation, and the girls for making this melancholy song sound so gorgeous.

This mv and song was most likely made for the Sewol Fairy accident in South Korea cause it hinted lots of things from what happened inside and stuff like that but Sm doesn’t want to confirm this theory even tho it’s pretty obvious bcoz one of their previous girl groups F(x) got backlash from doing stuff like this

This is my favorite RV song. The cord changes, voicings, and vocal melody are absolutely beautiful. The production is flawless. The vocals themselves are maybe not the flashiest thing RV has done, but the harmonies are not simple at all, and there's a ton of technique on show in more subtle ways. The arrangement and instrumentation is absolutely gorgeous, and the editing, cinematography, and video production overall just perfectly fits. This is an actual masterpiece. Seriously, the actual songwriting, the music theory behind the song stands as one of the most beautiful pieces of music out there. It's actually complex, and not just to be complex but in order to paint the exact mood they wanted. There's a whole lot of subtle technical stuff going on in this song.

RV can do such beautiful job of making you feel sad [Velvet side] with this 1990's soul/R&B track & equally happy [Red side] cheerful pop songs. They make you feel both sides of the emotional coin.
