Comparing it to composite cables through a Retro Tink is a given, it's going to look better through the Pound Cable. A fairer comparison would be against the official Microsoft XBox Component Cables, the Microsoft HD AV Pack, or the Monster Component Cables (the gold standards for XBox Video Output).

Original xbox is a great console. It has awesome lookin games..it can also be modded to play older consoles and arcade games..it can be a cd and dvd player...over all u cant go wrong with the original xbox...im a Nintendo fanboy and i cant denie how good the xbox is..

just to let you know the retrotink isnt really well made to be used with the xbox as it only can scale up 480i signals (and 240p ofc) as some xbox games use 480p and even a few 1080i (i think in total 6 titles) which the retrotink doesnt support its more of a hassle on the signal than really helping it for this a ossc would be worthwhile but before getting a retrotink it would be more wise to get a old CRT-TV and use component cable

yip just checked star wars battle front runs on 480p thats why it looked overly smushy and the colors were so bad in comparison halo runs at 480i and it had not those drawbacks at all

Well it's decent for a good picture and for the price is not that bad obviously is not a perfect as the official xbox components cables, but of course those are expensive.

@@RoXolid Yeah, everything I stream is from original hardware that hasn't been modded and I don't have an upscaler so everything is component or composite for the older systems. Dipping into an HDMI solution for the original Xbox might be a start. I really want an excellent solution for the Mark III/Master System.

I remember when the original Xbox first launched I wanted one so bad after seeing Halo.I ended up getting one about 1/2 year and never looked back buying most games for it because the video and sharpness looks so much better!Gary I hated the duke controller but it quickly got replaced with the s controller. You should give the controller another chance surely you'll enjoy it much better with more time with it? Some games I'd recommend would be Area 51,Destroy All Humans,Doom 3,Star Wars: Jedi Knight Jedi Academy,Psi-Ops,Panzer Dragoon Orta,Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks,Burnout Series,Otogi 1and 2,Xmen Legends 1 and 2.

For the RetroTink, you might want to compare component video input into it against the Pound cable. Composite video looks like garbage upscaled, even through an OSSC or Framemeister. OG Xbox component cables should be fairly easy to come by. Good video

You should try the Logitech wireless controller for the OG Xbox. It's much smaller, due to the expansion ports being on the receiver instead of on the controller.

Nice video. I prefer playing on original hardware because the Xbox 360 and newer consoles have slimmed down backwards compatibility lists. Hence my choice for original hardware. 461 playable out of 1001 released on the Xbox 360.

These cables are the same as those Wii to HDMI converters and ps2 to HDMI. It just converts the component signal to a HDMI port. Nothing else. Try those 3 dollar chinese component cables, and you will have exactly the same results. If you want the best results, use the OEM component cables (especially xbox). For the Wii and ps2, the original component cables are giving the same results as aftermarket ones. Also for rgb scart cables, use the OEM ones for snes, GameCube (rgb modded N64), Sega master system 1 and Mega drive 1. And ps1. Aftermarket scart cables are horrible, and most of the times it's just a composite cable build into a scart cable/plug, nothing more.. It's doing a little more than that, because you can see the video is better with this than the Composite thru the RetroTink. But yes, it's not a replacement for an OSSC, Framemeister or RetroTink, but it's not trying to be either.

That is CRAZY that you’ve never played Halo! I was the Halo master after it came out and had “HaloFest” at my house, “bachelor pad”, back in the day in Mobile. I live in North Georgia now and am building an ultimate game room where I’ll have multiple systems hooked together on old CRTs. Always had 4 Xbox’s hooked up. You know after playing it you’ll back to play Halo.

If you're using composite video it may not present the video output options that having component video cables will.

Comparing Composite (240p) via the RetroTink is a horrible comparison with the OGXBOX. You really should compare the Pound Link cable to an Original XBOX Component Cable+Component Converter (Not upscaler). The RetroTink will not work with anything higher than 480i, which is why you need a Component to HDMI converter (should be < $25 or so). The Cheap Chinese component cables are not shielded and are horrible. Also, BURNOUT is a freaking awesome driving game on the OGXBOX, high fun-factor.

I can only compare with what I have. I don't have the component cable so I was not able to feature them. Also the comparison was more for to compare against stock, or as close to it as possible, to what a $30 investment for these cables would be.
