One thing to everyone that rides with headphones in, please ride with only one earbud in, it is so important to stay aware of your surroundings while riding, too many accidents have been cause by people wearing headphones and not being aware of their surroundings

Something long distance riders do is learn to push mongo. The reason you don't primarily push mongo is because its less stable as we know. But if you get good at it you can just, push a few times normally, then push a few times mongo. It uses both legs without having to change to switch stance. The only thing is its obviously not good for going really fast, but it's what the professional distance riders do and it WILL keep your legs happy.
@OgdenSikel3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know alot of people do that, I've heard it from people on reddit also, but firstly, I just hate pushing mongo, and secondly, I lose a little bit of my stability and turning capability while riding like that. So yes, this is also an option, but if you don't wanna ride mongo at least there are some other options too!

Man thank you so much for all the different angles, and tips I was having such a hard time learning to ride switch and this made it so much easier when you said step off with both legs and leave the board in the middle and then switch I think that's going to be the ticket for me to finally be able to get it and feel natural! Thank you for all the longboard tips, tricks and maintenance videos !

I knew you were gonna say something about riding switch/skogging :( I learned how to ollie over a decade ago regular but only started riding again this year... and goofy was way more comfy in my return. now i can't ride regular at all. and i'm only riding an arbor pocket rocket rn... so it's harder to go distances on and harder to balance on. Guess it's time to practice and save up for something built for more distance because these ankles aren't built for going over 10km often on a tiny deck with no flex. Good music suggestion though!

This is SO helpful! I love your videos, the quality is so good and your instructions are really clear and helpful, especially as a beginner! In the future, I’d love to see a video about how to not get foot cramps! I hurt my foot bc I was so tensed riding the board and couldn’t skate for a week!😭

Switch only sucks for a few days, then you get it and trust me, skating is just way better with switch unlocked
@SO-ym3zs Жыл бұрын
An alternative to switching stances is to just alternate between pushing regular and mongo. Less complicated and safer since it doesn't involve any jumps/steps off the board to change stances. I know some people will find mongo awkward at first, but that's true of learning switch, too. It's all relative.

Hey! I really appreciate your videos it got me back into skateboarding and I recently bought a cruiser dinghy and I noticed the space balls bearings are kinda ass😭 but I honestly don’t know much about bearings I really just want something to go fast! So I don’t have to push as much, what would you recommend?

it's anaerobic exercise:) and can become extreme; my heart rate went 192, - I only use left leg to push< last night I flipped my board the other side around, and started going faster, for longer,,, Turns out i had the wrong idea which was the front of my board...

I was wondering what type of wheels you use on your tan tien? Would you recommend? What are they good for? And what other wheels would you recommend?
@OgdenSikel3 жыл бұрын
The ones I have are powell snakes...they're meant for downhill but have worked really great for cruising too. I used to have orangatang stimulus wheels which are also super great for the board. Honestly the stimulus are a pretty sweet deal...around $40 and they've been good for over 4 years of riding.

I'm thinking about trading my longboard for one with a drop though deck 🤔 I like my board but I think it'll just be easier and less tiring... What do u think?
@OgdenSikel3 жыл бұрын
depends on what your current deck is...the best thing you can do is get faster bearings, but if you feel like your board is too high off the ground for your liking then yeah, definitely try a drop through

Any tips on cruising downhill without going too fast?
@OgdenSikel3 жыл бұрын
learn how to footbrake is the easiest method. or learn slides, but those can be hard and a little risky....I guess also carving back and forth can help slow you down a tiny bit too
@robbys9293 жыл бұрын
@@OgdenSikel footbraking works for me on shallow hills but in my area there are some hills that are insanely steep and it gets hard to balance on my board while footbraking and sometimes it will cause soreness in the leg I’m using to break. But maybe that’s just me?
@postmodernjoe3 жыл бұрын
@@robbys929 yeah idk how to slow down when that situation arises either lol, usually I plan my route and if I can’t skate it safely I walk it lol
@robbys9293 жыл бұрын
@@postmodernjoe I wish I could plan around usually I have no choice but to walk down it
@OgdenSikel3 жыл бұрын
I would practice your balance every time you go out so you can do little bursts of footbraking all the way down the hill which would probably be the best. Once you get far enough down the hill, I usually just go for it and bomb the rest of the way down (obviously this doesn't work the best if there are intersections or something at the bottom though lol.
