Yes Jenny was a working girl at 14. She wore blush on her cheeks and high heeled shoes. She walked that street a thousand times before. And death was her only escape from that abusive life she was living. It’s heart wrenching when you realize she was just a girl and her twin brother murders her in a botched robbery. Both her and her mother were silent/ still. And Screech was violent similar to his father and grandfather.

This is probably the best example of "Bardcore" which is the term Ren uses for his stories. He is indeed writing modern folk tales, and his gift for presenting it as a wandering minstrel suit the genre very well.

It's funny because there's already a genre called bardcore that's already been established before Ren started calling his folk tales that, but yeah I guess you could say his folksy songs are like modern-day bard music.

Like the midevil roaming from town to town telling stories to entertain or to impart morals. Ren is well educated, intelligent, and so well versed in the English language, literature and a genius lyricist! He’s completely an independent artist who shot all of these early videos in various locations found, a basement, friends apartment etc with very little money. His friend Samuel is amazing videographer and most are live straight through. Theatrically talented and exceeds in many many genres! Beginning by busking on the streets or Brighten originally from Wales. Was sign to do an albulm with Sony early on but pulled out when struck with illness. The end of last year he released a rap album Sick Boi that went to number 1 on billboard and iTunes! I assume listeners have filled you in on his illness story after u viewed Hi Ren. If not It I will. It is essential to understanding Ren as a person and artist. You do an amazing job breaking down music! Only a few I’ve seen caught him rewinding the hands of time on his guitar! Please was Suicide and enjoy the incredible performance of Ren and The Big Push live busking of I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/hip Hop!

I’ve seen this well over 100 times and I cried with you. Ren wrote Screech’s Tale about a year after Jenny’s Tale and Violet’s Tale came out~3 years later. I think that it’s why Violet’s Tale is longer. Ren really is a master of his craft. He uses literary tools like metaphor, simile, alliteration and personification in such a way that, no matter who you are, your background etc, you can see and feel what is happening. Each Tale begins with an overture that sets the tone . He changes his cadence and tone with each character ( Jenny being the only one who we don’t hear anything from directly- other than Richard). His guitar is not simply “ a guitar “ . When REN is the narrator he also changes his tone of voice accordingly. In Violet’s Tale , when the camera pans up and Ren sings “ She never ( drawn out) had a chance “ you can see it , that chance, floating up and out into the darkness. And later the line “ London City, far from pretty…” is delivered for the last time, and you can hear contempt in RENs voice. This is a masterpiece and a master class in storytelling.

The only time either of the women (Jenny was like her mother), was when Violet was begging the doctors to save her babies. And Ren alludes to the final twist by his choice of words and delivery. He says "please let my babies stay alive", but the S's are very close together. It's there if you listen.

One of the morals that are immersed in the story is that apparently Jenhy has inherited her mother's fear that makes her paralyze and be silent in the face of violence unable to react, and on the other hand, Screech has inherited her father's violence. New subscriber, awesome reaction brother, and welcome to the Renegades 👍🏻. This is a tough one for sure, but what Ren does here so masterfully is grab the viewer's full attention, and for the 1 minute following Stevie's knocking to the "fast forward", he ensures that we're all on the same page on the horror of what's being portrayed here. When he takes us through the twist at the end, there's cathartic revelation, horror, and sadness, but most importantly empathy washes in with the huge rush of emotions. With this last part especially Ren's music has helped to open the door on non-judgmental spaces for people around the world to connect through their shared experiences, and to share encouragement, support, and love with one another. I personally have never seen anything like it, particularly not in the YT comments section, but Ren's music and the Renegades are welcome surprises, and a gift we all share.

It just occured to me that when Screech finds Patric isn't home, and he calls his girlfriend but she is "busy," not only is Patrick probably sleeping with Screech's girlfriend, but maybe Screech is just here realizing this and it is probably something that helped drive him to his ensueing suicidal rage with the cops.....

This was confirmed in Ren - Screech's Tale - Instagram Stories. I am assuming that you haven't seen them. They are absolutely fantastic and a good use of ~12 minutes of your time. Leading up to the Screech's Tale release, these were filmed as "found footage" with Ren playing Screech as a kind of promotional item. He lost a lot of followers on Instagram because people didn't get that he was playing a character and thought this artist they were following was outing himself as a terrible human being. He uploaded them all as a collection on KZbin.

I feel the significance of the opening guitar line in reference (c. 1760 version) of "God rest ye, merry Gentlemen" translates to "may God grant you peace and happiness" is a premonition of the tales you are about to witness. **spoiler below** Violet was likely forced into intercourse (mentions she's 16 when she moved out), birthing twins which grow up not knowing each other, and the violence involving young (14yo) James is the full circle of Violet's violent experiences. There is speculation that Jenny's familiarity with walking these streets in high heeled shoes (also 14) is suggestive of her life is one of prostitution, again the possibility of the full circle. To me, it calls to question where is the peace and happiness in this story? It's a tragedy that shouldn't be forgotten, and thus should be told. Stories of this kind are too prevalent, and yet, society in general is willing to be ignorant to it's existence.

Ren is a modern day bard painting such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it pulls you in and forces you to keep watching - even when it gets physically uncomfortable during Violet’s Tale. And Ren uses this ability to shed light on far too real issues in the world. He is special. Anyway great reaction. The one part you found confusing with Jenny escaping was a call back to the beginning of the tale where he says she wanted to escape her life of walking those same streets she’d walked a thousand times before. She did escape that life. Just not in the way she wanted to 😢 Otherwise you got it right. And even noticed him forwarding time with the guitar. Most seem to miss that even if they understand it when he is rewinding, so well done. Now you get to wait in eager anticipation with the rest of us, cause Ren has said that he and his cinematographer Sam have plans to film a pilot to pitch to Netflix when Ren has finished treatments in Canada and moves back to the UK. All we know is that it will be in the same raw style as this trilogy, but that is enough for me to say that if Netflix doesn’t give Ren his own show, they are fools. Also just a small side note… as an atheist I really appreciate that you’re not preaching or being critical about the cursing despite being a worshipper. It’s nice that we can all just appreciate Ren’s insane talent no matter who we are or what we believe. It’s also very fitting considering community is exactly what Ren stands for ❤️ There’s room for all RENegades in his rabbit hole 🐰🕳️

You might be one of the first to really touch how he uses his instrument as an integral part of his story telling. He flows between narration, acting - sometimes within the same line with the instrument setting the mood all so fluently. All of this could be full on tv production - introduction, character development, scene setting and transition, etc all done in single takes that suck you in, I feel based on the rawness of it. Sam's skill at also using the camera to be intertwined with the story telling. Pure talent. Great reaction - having seen a ton of these you picked up this crazy story very well for a first time. It sounds like you're getting tons of requests, Ren's catalogue is so diverse you can't go wrong in any direction. The Money Game trilogy is another great story watch.

Yeah I love the way he takes on the role of narrator and orchestra the way films are made with musical cues and indicators. The way he winds time forwards and backwards is a musical cliché, but you wouldn't want it any other way. It's perfect. Tesco is one of the UKs biggest supermarket chains. Violets "silence" just means she was very introverted and put up with stuff without complaining.

I loved your real reaction at the end. A very underrated song by Ren is Crutch, please if you find the time to react to it, I would be grateful. It is one of my favorites, he is much younger, but it's a bit different and so amazing. Ren is Welsh and has Lyme disease, he was misdiagnosed for years, and it caused a lot of trauma. He currently is doing treatment in Canada, or just recently as in 2023. He is Remarkable and gives me strength. I am happy I found your channel and am newly subbed, I can't wait to see more Ren, and other reactions.

Ren prepared for each of these takes by practicing the guitar pieces so much that it was muscle memory, so that he could put all his focus into his choreography and singing. There's a whole set of supplemental videos he released on Instagram that nearly got his account deleted that he collected as Screech's Tale Instagram Stories, released in conjunction of the release of Screech's Tale. It gives some background on who Screech, Patrick, and Babe all were. The line is "London City, far from pretty, 2-0-0-5." 2005 is the year that Violet died and the twins were born. The first two parts were released in 2019. So he foreshadowed the final revelation for those clever enough to catch it. Here's a fun fact: The bed in Violet's Tale was actually a child's size bed they picked up accidentally. So they put it up on blocks and made sure to not show the feet of it. To see more of his storytelling genius, you should absolutely check out Money Game pts 1, 2, and especially 3, which is a literal award-winning cinematic masterpiece. If you'd like something less weighty but absolutely incredible for a 1-shot video, then pull up Animal Flow.

Another hint that the ended up in foster care is their names. Jenny and James is basically the UK equivalent to Jane and John Doe in the US. Also, "Violet's Tale" could be seen as a play on "Violence Tale" emphasizing the underlying plot of violence often becoming a repeating cycle of generational trauma.

I am subscribing!! You were one of the first reactors i have seen that talked about the chords Ren uses, he genuinely makes the guitar tell the story along with his words. His guitar is not just accompaniment. it's a duet. I cried along with you! I have watched almost every reactor, react to this one! I was sure you would catch it, you were there. When I first heard Violet was pregnant on my first listening of this, i knew it was Jenny and Screech *maybe because of seeing so much darkness in my own life. Thank you so much!! Isn't it incredible that Ren learned much, if not all of his guitar playing from KZbin?? Can't wait for the next one!!❤

a tidbit that many reactors miss is in the chorus of Voilets tale he says London city, far from pretty, 2-0-0-5, meaning the year that he rewinds to that jenny and screech was born is 2005. remember they were 14 years old.. this was made in 2019.

First comment, I'm going to go ahead and say you're probably gonna be horrified, before I even watch this. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! 😆 Edited to add... at 6:34 and wow, I believe you'll be mentioning this effect again... nice! Edited at the end: Ok.. wow... what a great reaction. Yes, the more you think about it, you'll think of the terrible details... Like why Jenny getting stabbed was actually an escape... like what was JENNY doing out in the middle of the night in high-heeled shoes, and having been there a thousand times before, AT 14. Where was Patrick, and why was his girlfriend BUSY? And the 2005, Ren released these around 2019, I think, and 2005 would have been 14 years before 2019... You'll be getting quite a few more from those of us who have watched a hundred reactions to this have figured out.... Again, great reaction!

The earlier hint, was when Jenny whilst walking home , felt a Divine intervention telling her to be ware, maybe intuition bugging her and making her so scared! It is said that many pairs of twins share a common telepathy between one and other!,her unease was being caused by the very close proximity to her twin brother ❤❤

@@teckreactions As well as the Love Music parts 1-4, you should also take a listen to the Money Game series as they are just as good. I was hooked by Hi Ren and spiraled into about 2-3 hours of watching pretty mcuh everything Ren has put up on KZbin straight after, followed by constantly listening to a playlist of every song Rens's put out onto Spotify in the car. The fact he can go from such heavy storylines in the Jenny/Screech/Violets tale to more upbeat songs like Down on The Beat (feat Viktus) and genres in between makes it very easy to only ewant to listen to Ren and nothing else. My 9 year old son absolutely loves Animal Flow which is another favourite of mine.

Found you through your Hi Ren reaction and subscribed. I am a Christian and a Renegade. Ren's work can be jarring (especially Masochist just FYI), but it paints such a real picture of this fallen world and the suffering people go through in their darkest moments. It reminds me to show love, empathy, and compassion when sitting with the broken. I work as an advocate for women in domestic violence situations. He encapsulates so much nuanced truth of DV relationships in Violet's Tale. Thanks for your Ren reactions.

Also, and I know this will sound like an oxymoron LOL, but when Ren fast-forwarded on the guitar, he went back to the start of Violet's Tale to the point from which he initially rewound with Violet fighting for her life in the hospital, so he was still in 2005 and not the present day (2019 at the time).

This was one of the best reactions to this incredible story that I have seen. Really appreciated your understanding and analysis of the chords and guitar techniques used in the story telling. Jenny was silent like her mom and froze when Screech attacked her. Screech had the temper of his father (whether that was Violet's father or Stevie is open for debate). A tragic tale of generational trauma told by a master storyteller. I would highly recommend checking out some of Ren's lighter work for awhile - the Love Music songs (at least 1-3, 4 gets a little... cheeky), Patience and It's Alright are quite light and enjoyable. The Money Game trilogy is fantastic but is a little more political. Looking forward to more reactions 💜💜

28:18 Ren has many facettes, some rough, some smooth edges. After losing my cousin, last year, to her depression, and the song "Suic!de" being released just days after her funeral, I had a very tough time. Ren lost his best mate Joe, who jumped off Menai Bridge, while Ren literally ran to the bridge to save him. Joe's body was never found... So "Suic!de", "Freckled Angels", "For Joe" and my "favourite", "How ro be me" all circle around that incident. Joe's exit pretty much kept Ren holding on to his own life, even through his toughest times. So these are all quite heavy songs. For lighthearted lyrics, best look at his cheeky rap stuff, like his Beastie Boys hommage "What you want". His own dark side is best explored with "Wicked Ways", "Seven Sins" and "Illest of our Time"
