Deep stuff for sure but the song is just amazing

Though I think this is what this song is about (and just for the record I love this song) having more chromosomes does not make you more evolved. Not too long after that I went to see Maynard’s other band, Puscifer, at their first ever live show at The Palms in Las Vegas. What a crazy show. Anyway…. My girlfriend and I were having dinner at the fancy restaurant in the hotel before the show, and it was completely empty. Then in walks Danny and his wife, and they sat not too far from us. I didn’t want to bother them, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity, so I introduced myself, mentioned my friend and the tickets he hooked us up with, thanked him and told him how much his music meant to me. Forty-Six & 2 is inspired by the teachings of Carl Jung and Drunvalo Melchizedek. The title refers to the idea of higher evolution through the acquisition of extra chromosomes. In this song, Maynard sings about walking through his shadow and binding these teachings to leave the shadows behind and attain a higher level of human evolution: "Coming out the other side / Step into the shadow / Forty-six and two are just ahead of me." This symbolizes personal growth and transformation.

Every Tool song is incredible. This is not an exaggeration, they don’t have a bad song. Check out H, Jimmy, Parabol and Parabola (you have to do the 2 songs together), and The Grudge. You can pick any Tool song and it’s going to be good. Great reaction as always!

You should hear this done by O"Keefe Music School. The kids do an incredible job of this song and many Tool songs. It's wonderful to see this.

A remarkable Tool 🎵 composition that I highly recommend exploring is "Right in Two." It is a powerful and impactful piece with profound and thought-provoking lyrics.

Amazing song by one of the greatest bands of all time. I can also highly highly highly recommend: Parabol+Parabola (listen back to back is a must!), The Grudge, Lateralus, Lost Keys+Rosetta Stoned (listen back to back is a must here as well!), Stinkfist, Third Eye and Eulogy😊

"Lateralus" is a Tool song you must experience. It is well known for its unique time signatures as the chorus changes from 9/8 to 8/8 to 7/8. The song was written to the Fibonacci sequence, as the number of syllables follow the pattern building up and then back down between 1-1-2-3-5-8-5-3 in certain parts of the song. While many of Tool’s songs contain mathematical elements, it’s truly impressive that they were able to include this sequence in one of their most popular and well received songs without any sort of sacrifice in terms of musical quality or creativity.

The song also contains some references to alchemy.

Definitely my favorite song from them. I also agree with what you said about intuition and not paying attention to it as we should. Great reaction!!

Have always loved you guys, one of my favorites . Your analysis was dead on point with the book by Carl Jung you're reading. There is a pretty good video out there that someone has done that accompanies the song and offers a pretty good explanation of what you were getting at. Kids cover 46 and 2 is a must watch also like the previous comment suggests. You guys keep doing you ❤

I was introduced to tool in middle school and have loved them for the last 20 years, so it's so fun to watch people discover their music and experience it for the first time. Great video ❤

Tool will forever hold a special place in my heart, my Ex loved them and introduced me to them. Even though we weren't together anymore we still had love for one another and he just passed away on March 8th. This is one song I listened to a lot as I knew he was transitioning to another plane of existence, a new life, shedding his skin so to speak.

It's really incredible. I was SERIOUSLY into Tool throughout the 90s. Their sound/style really satisfies that craving for a dark, heavy, rough experience but everything about their work is sooo intelligent and miles above most every other group working in similar genres and themes. Maynard turned 60 this year, bless him. Such a great voice. I also like his work in A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. Makes some good wine too, available through his outlet "Caduceus Cellars". The Sangiovese Nagul del Marzo Rosé is great on a Summer day.
