I've never seen this method. I've only ever seen the "hand cuff" methods. Looking forward to the follow up videos and thanks for this one.

Thank you so much for this video. I have my first baby parakeet that we are treating this way right now. We tried the vet wrap and she took it off right away. I saw the rubberband method with the straw and wanted to know your thoughts on that if the cup doesn't work. This is the first video from you that I've seen but I'm going to check out more now. I liked and subscribed because of your knowledge on this and explaining how to treat it.

Hi I’d like to know if after the baby cockatiels hatch can you keep them in the incubator and use that as a brooder
@Bird.Squawk3 жыл бұрын
Sure, I do it all the time. I have so many baby's I have to have different temps for each baby. Hope this helps. Keep in touch on how it goes. Kevin.

How many times do you feed a 1 day old cockatiel?
@Bird.Squawk3 жыл бұрын
I feed mine every two hours as needed for the first day. I might go four to six hours at night just to make sure the crop completely empties. Now, you only want the crop to completely empty once a day.
@Randomsho713 жыл бұрын
@@Bird.Squawk so feed the baby every 2 hours even if the crop still looks full ?
@Bird.Squawk3 жыл бұрын
@@Randomsho71 no. Look to see if it needs food. Add some as needed. The baby needs to have some food in its crop all day long. And then once a day I usually make this at night it needs to go completely empty. letting the bird go completely empty once a day insures that all of the food has passed through the crop and into its system. If food sits in the crop for too long it could spoil thus causing slow crop a bad bacteria inside the crop often fatal.

@@Bird.Squawk 😮 okay I fed the baby a little bit at 9 PM, now I will let it empty overnight. Thank you agian 😊

Any tips on how to fix legs that won’t uncross? I have a canary chick that is about 3 weeks old it has not uncrossed it’s legs under it. The feet are also curled. I have seen how to correct that issue but don’t know what to do to help it stand.
@Bird.Squawk3 жыл бұрын
I'm not telling you to do this I'm simply telling you what I have done in the past. If you choose to try that's your option Knowing that there's always risk. I take a pipe cleaner and I make a loop on one end that fits around their leg but will not slip over their claw then I cut the pipe cleaner and make a loop on the other end that keeps their feet the perfect amount of part then as the muscles grow the legs stay into shape.

When will my baby cockatiel hatch after hear it chirping this morning?
@bethtanner41483 жыл бұрын
I mean I heard it chirp but then it stopped is it ok still?
@Bird.Squawk3 жыл бұрын
@@bethtanner4148 not actually seeing the egg and hearing it myself I can't tell you if the egg is okay or not. It's been my experience that once I start hearing a bird chirping that soon it will start pipping which is when they start cracking on the egg I would listen several times a day and see if you start hearing that. If you go a couple more days and don't hear anything chances are something happened. But give it time chirping is a great sign.

@@Bird.Squawk thank you so much for getting back to me.The egg is doing good it has 2 small hole and a small crack as of 11.30pm my time here in n.y.so see how tomorrow goes if it doesn't crack out by late after noon should I help it alittle more or not?
@Bird.Squawk3 жыл бұрын
@@bethtanner4148 I've never had the best of luck helping them. I would give it time. But, at some point in time you will have to make that decision. Again I personally always weigh on the waiting side of things. Last week I had one that was way late....but still chirping and still pecking at the egg. I knew the chick was stuck. I took one drop of warm water and put it in the hole that the chick has created. I'm not recommending you do that.... I'm just saying I knew the chick was stuck and needed a very little moisture. Again...good luck.

My baby cockatiel had splayed leg. I didn't know how to fix it but I did placed him in a nest similar to what you demonstrated in this video. I thought it would improve but his legs are both inward or twisted towards front. Any advice how to help my bird?
@Bird.Squawk3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear you're having problems. I have to be a little careful on telling people what to do here due to them maybe hurting their baby more. So I will simply tell you what I do in a situation like that I get a pipe cleaner and I make little handcuffs that basically hold their feet legs the exact distance apart that I want and it holds them in place.

Question: what causes crop to empty really slow? I have one baby that has that issue. How do I help it please help!
@Bird.Squawk3 жыл бұрын
My advice would be to seek an avian veterinarian. It sounds like your baby has what's called slow crop, sometimes it's called sauer crop. It's extremely difficult to catch and treat this. If this is slow crop the now bad bacteria will need to be killed and flushed out. Then you need to introduce good bacteria.
