OH NO! Major Error!!

Oops. That fix didn't go as planned. Here's how I screwed up my fairing for a second tie and ended up just making a whole new fairing.

I will probably number then. The 'problem' is that the software I use to number then is on a different computer using different software. So I have to upload the thumbnail to the other computer, number it, and then upload that new thumbnail to KZbin. I'd like to get my Masters degree in "Absolute Stupidity" so I can use this dumb Apple computer to number them.

I would say that almost everyone knew that faring had to be replaced. It was not up to your standard or mindset to NOT replace it. At least it makes me feel better that it was replaced. Besides, you got another video out of it:-)

That's why I was sort of happy when I realized I cut the old one incorrectly. At that point there was no question I was just going to build another fairing and that's what I really wanted to do anyway.

I know your subconscious made you cut it wrong on purpose, just to force you to do what you really wanted to anyway. I won’t mention how much , just a tiny bit more looking and thinking could of saved me so much frustration. Been there and done that on the exact same kit , just other areas of the project.

How will you locate where to drill the mounting holes in the fairing to match the ones already drilled in the metal underneath? Can you drill into the fairing from underneath the instrument panel?

Looks like you start with snips trimming and finish with cutoof wheel on dremel. Did you find one easier or does the dremel give a better finished edge?

I snip off the rough edge, then use the Dremel to cut about 1/6 to 1/8th away from the line I've drawn. Then I use a sanding block to sand a nice smooth line down to the line

Sorry if this has been asked before, what is the temp in your hangar when you are doing the glass work?

As warm as you can get it. I heated mine to about 65 and then put heat lamps all around the fairing until it cured.

How difficult do you think it would be to make a windshield fairing for my completed plane? I have zero fiberglass experience...

It wouldn't any more difficult to make, but you'd want to really make sure the entire front of your plane is masked off so you don't drip resin anywhere on the paint.
