Yes... But no. Stuff like Verte is still just fine vs Maxx C and can just sorta make Santifire into Jowgen just as long as you can get two monsters on board. Decks ending on Collossus because they can fit in a search for Nemisis in their combo. ect. ect. The big limiting factor I think is that most decks just can't plain FIT the horseshit combo into their builds. Extra Deck space is tight for many decks, and most top tier decks are trying to jam as many handtraps into their builds as possible so they can shut down the first turn play with Imperm/Veiler. Also Kit is free at the cost of the entirety of Tearelements being absolutely butchered. Like the entirety of the Adventure engine is available but most archtypes now are super dependent on their normal summon. So when deckbuilding I'm looking at it like "Yeah, I might be able to stuff it in, but I need my normal for Snake Ash/Herald/In Archtype starter. ++ Master Duel is a mostly casual game, and people just get tired of doing the same long combos.

Maxx C has nothing to do with it, it's the fact that MD is a best of 1 format. That allows a LOT of leeway for jank that wouldn't normally see play because the opponent would just adapt in the rest of the match.

Yeah, that’s sort of my reaction to the “See, Kitkallos is legal here and it’s fine!” bit. It’s fine because the rest of the tearlaments archetype is decimated! You can mix it with other stuff, I’m sure, but the core of the archetype (and the tear 0 format) is gone. I was so annoyed by the deck when it launched at first because of how it played but after facing the current meta I was like “Maybe I was too harsh on you…” and thought about playing around with the archetype but when I saw that most of the mermaids were straight up *banned* not limited I was like “Changed my mind, I’m building Mannadium”

What I hate is a theme that I noticed with specific cards. They are released, in only high rarity, obviously problematic and op but those with sufficient cash can freely play them. Then konami packs them into reprint packs so everyone buys them, only to ban these chase cards afterwards. Baron releases. What? A generic negates and pop is broken? Everyone complains about Shifter (and it is a problem card), but I think Droll is almost as bad. Both of them shut down several decks and are just really unfun to deal with. I don't think they need to be banned, but putting them to 1 would make them a lot less likely to show up. Also, I agree that Verte can come back. If any two monsters equal Fiendsmith combo, then any two should equal Verte for the budget players. And finally, they should have hit Sanctifire, not Branded Fusion, but everyone (except Konami) knows that.

All that putting crazy main deck cards to 1 does is make them even more sacky and luck based. If it's broken at 3 it's broken at 1, just less likely to come up. It's a bad system. Unironically the only things that should be limited/semi'd are extra deck cards. And maybe, like, main deck cards like raigeki+dark hole or the various pots where they're similar enough you don't want people running multiple playsets of basically the same card so you have to assemble a playset from all the limited ones.

Ash and flamberge are strong but really what makes it supper consistent is oss not to mention it ties the snake eyes into the asamina cards and let's snake eyes be splashed everywhere. OSS is the objectively best hit and you wouldn't even need to limit ash or ban flamberge why because now imperm ash or veiler on snake eyes ash has only one extender. As cool as the witch wanted engine is it comes at the expense of the format.

Spyral is also pretty much unhit in the OCG (2 Quick-fix, that's it) and got like 2 Tops in the last few months. The deck is just worse than the new decks on the block, and, suffers a lot under Maxx C. Tear has been within the top 5 decks of MD for a while, but is just constantly worse than the new stuff, so not really worth hitting Verte and Elf are just missing a home, that can abuse them.

If you go first and open with Maxx C in hand, you have 4 cards to make your board. If you have Pot of Greed you have 6 cards to make your board. Pot of Greed is also spell card, which some decks may care about, and can still be effective in low against low special summon decks.

@@NeonCitizenTeal yeah you kinda forgot one crucial detail about modern yu gi oh, and that’s hand traps. Maxx C is exactly as powerful as the cards its draws you, and that is to say VERY powerful. Obviously the number of non engine varies greatly but even if you take the middle ground of 15 hand traps at this point, if you maxx c after setting up a board in draw you will be drawing into so many hand traps it will not matter what your opponent does, they are NOT breaking your board. In this case maxx c STILL wins over the one extra card greed got you.

Idk part of me has to agree with the people saying "You can't use master duel to gauge how the card will do in the tcg". It's a best of one format that you won't run into these decks constantly vs going to locals or a tournament and seeing the meta decks everywhere. You don't get to side deck at all (which to me is a plus), Maybe i'm wrong, I don't play the card game on a higher level than online battles and dueling friends/siblings, but I'm pretty sure cards like Verte that were banned not too long ago due to how powerful they were, would still be powerful and probably used day one if they were legal. But hey, i'm the person that said before the banlist that they should just unban master plan and put Ratpier to 2 so that way we could see the reactions of the community.

God I love being priced out of my once favorite game. Casual Yugioh doesn’t exist and isn’t fun. So the only option is just another card game.

Imo a very simple solution to the single too powerful engines and decks is official tier lists by Konami. And then tier 1/0 decks shouldn’t be allowed to use the best or worst case not any handtraps. That would make handtraps help the lower decks to get by tier 1/0 decks like they were once supposed to be. Would be very easy to put things in those official tier1/0 group which by using a single card of it makes the abstrafst forbidden for you. Right now? Snake eyes Fiendsmith Yubel No handtraps for you (maybe only imperm)

Introduce a Smogen style tierlist system. Meta Decks & staples at the top and then introduce a few tiers below so less powerful decks can play against eachother.

At this point, konami should implement rules like in duel links, where the banlist prevents people from playing all the legal strong cards together. Think cards like skill drain, some snake eyes cards, some fiend smith cards ect. Just keep the top decks from having multiple consistency cards and the best hand traps.

The real answer is we need something between shifter and dd crow in terms of power, like maybe a first 3 cards floodgate banish. For both players. It may not stop a full combo, but it may cause some sort of weaker play.

Ash might even be an unnecessary hit with oss gone since it losses witch wanted and azamina no longer supports them. Either way yeah OSS was always correct However you forgot Lacrima ban and shifter I doubt would even be a reasonable hit. The game just needs to evolve into one that's not 100% reliant on the gy won't help older decks who are necessarily but it will reduce the prevalence of shifter.

I started playing Yu-Gi-Oh! a few months ago with Swordsoul Tenyi, and Archnemeses Protos was and remains the coolest fucking shit ever to me-a ray of hope for my fallen-from-grace janky little rogue deck in a world full of yubel and snake eyes. My addition to the current list: semi-limit every searching spell card in the game, except the ones already banned or limited. Slows the game down, looks fair at a glance, and gives Yugi-tubers something to ramble about since they dislike semi-limits…. Medallion of the Ice Barrier can stay though, they haven’t done anything yet.
