I can't help but feel that the legionnaire reference is meant to conjure up either anti French or anti Roman sentiments, a very traditional rallying cry for Germans since Teutoberg forest.
@EroticBurrito5 ай бұрын
Legionär has a very different meaning in german. While the world is also used in roman militaria it could be granslated sellsword. Today it means someone who fights in another and against another country
@cygnos62015 ай бұрын
Legionnaire only refers to the Romans in a political way, as the Romans were traditionally imperialistic, always trying to acummulate more wealth, as their system was reliant on that. The US which often times is getting compared to the roman republic, by even themselves, is in this context just called imperialistic. It's definetly not a very traditional rallying cry of germans, as the german mentality only exists for about 400 years, and the germans saw themselves as roman even proclaming the holy roman empire. Anti-french sentiment is completely justified, as all french people are related to satan. But, seriously no anti-french sentiment only really started after Napoleon's conquests so it's only like 200 years old.

Es geht nicht nur um deutsche Soldaten. Nehmen wir die Ukraine als Beispiel. Sie kämpfen nicht für ihr Land. Sie sterben für die USA. Sie sind gewissermaßen Fremdenlegionäre im eigenen Land.

Brilliant! I love it. The Stasi were decades ahead of their time. It's only been in recent years that entire regimes and systems have become so daring and resourceful as to vacuum out pretty much everything they want to know about the people under their management, and to effect it with most of the people they examine congratulating them for doing so, whilst they effectively report on their own parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, next door neighbors and work colleagues, using nationalism, neuvo idealism, personal security and profit from productivity as the underlying basis. Meanwhile, both internally and externally, the brutal and the entrenched ugly minded still flourish and still travel with ease and confidence. The wheel rotates around to the position it began from. What a beautiful, en-masse psychological experiment. 😁

I gotta give those Red’s credit for their Accordion and Musical abilities , a very catchy Tune . Dancing to tunes like this must have kept them in shape to jump those barb wire barriers along the Berlin Wall. That one fellow in the Historic Photo even did it toting His rifle, something a olympian couldn’t even do. I would bet that at headquarter’s the reaction to that guy jumping the wire was akin to Capones post Elliot Ness raid banquet in The Untouchables. The communists brainwashed those poor unfortunate DDR souls so thoroughly they were oblivious to the fact that they sang this song while serving in the communist Legion’s.
