Ohio Bowhunting - Lost Buck Found with Drone After 6 Hours of Tracking!

TAGNBRAG Nation, as you saw last night I was bowhunting in Ohio and I hit the buck that I was after. The shot was a little far forward but I still had hope of a vatal shot. Bowhunting is a game of inches and after reviewing the footage my hopes were actually pretty high. But after tracking for a short while that night I elected to back out and go back in the morning. It was a sleepless night as you can imagine but as I got back and onto his track it was relatively easy to follow. Until he bedded down, I was following a pretty easy blood trail in the snow. After tracking this deer hundreds of yards, losing the track multiple times, finding blood again, finding where he bedded down again, and repeating that process for over 6 hours in the timber I determined that it was likely that the deer was still alive. It was a brutal realization to come too. I had just busted my ass tracking the deer using everything I have learned throughout my hunting life to help get me some sort of closure on this buck. A full day of tracking and still, nothing. But I could not accept that. I could not give up hope in knowing and understanding what happened with this deer...

It's nice seeing a drone being used in a positive way. Absolutely 100% in support of this use of them. Unfortunately, we ALL know they will be misused and banned before you know it. Hell, I watched one video and one was being used for a "herd" count. As always, great video team TnB.

That’s quite a remarkable buck to have survived that hit. Just the amount of blood loss seemed like you were gonna walk up on him expired over night. Your follow up and efforts to try and recover that wounded deer is admirable. Always something new to learn and experience with these amazing whitetails. Good video documentary.

I felt the same way brother. Even all those hours on the track I still had hope I was going to find him laid up somewhere. They are tough. So tough! Its unbelievable. But I did learn a lot along the journey and I appreciate you following along for it.

I replayed the shot in slow motion and held the cursor on your release. Check it out in slow motion, it appears that the release hand goes back and down slightly right before the arrow is let go. As if the pull was not straight back but a little down. May have some affect on target ?

Shot my biggest buck ever in the same exact spot. He lived and had him under 60 yards 2 times 2 days later chasing a doe. Absolutely crazy.

Bro, I literally had the same exact thing happened to me this year, I have video and I have so much blood. I thought this deer was 20 yards away dead… never recovered. Arrow never recovered either.

@@TAGNBRAG resilience is t even the word to use. I never saw him again on any of my trail cams. It was in an urban style hunt to. So all the backyards he went through, and not a soul had seen him. Gonna go shed hunting and see if I stumble across the dead head. I’ll keep you posted. Glad your boy healing for another day.

Dude I can’t believe you went after that deer right away. Especially with such a poor shot that you could review on video. Bad shots happen. But you are a pro. You should know better than to go after a deer right away after that kind of shot. Do better

Listen, if there was something I would go back and do different it would have been not going after him that night. Either way, that would not have changed the outcome and arguably helped me learn even more about the deer in hindsight. But that shot is all or nothing. I felt in the moment that deer was either dead minutes after the shot because it got into the lungs, or it was nothing (which unfortunately it was). But regardless that didnt change the outcome. If that deer was going to die from the shot I was going to find him! I think this video speaks to that. But I appreciate the feedback.

This video really came full circle and showed the ups and downs of bow hunting. Congrats to you guys on a great year, with some really great deer. Very excited to see the channel growing so much. But you still act like a crazed ginger in the moment sometimes

He’s alive but he’s in severe pain and agony. Why can’t ya just video them and take pics. I mean there comes point when enough dead heads are enough!! These animals don’t deserve to be hunted / killed just cause people bought a 20$tag

They would not even be here to enjoy and video if not for us and those $20 tags. Hunters pay 90% of wildlife management. There are plenty for you to video.
