So underrated. For my money the Ohio Players were better than Earth, Wind & Fire and many other Funk/RnB Bands of that era. "Skin Tight" is incredible! We miss you Sugarfoot.

I will take their best 10 over anyone else's if i was stranded on an island. EWF, Kool & The Gang, Parliament, etc. But I think I will take EWF's best 20 over Ohio Players best 20.

One of two singles the Ohio Players released in between their #1 singles ""Fire" and "Love Rollercoaster". Both "I Want To Be Free" and "Sweet Sticky Thing" were slower jams and didn't garner the same interest as their uptempo classics. But it was nice to hear a variety of music from this massively talented group.

These guys were in a league all by themselves. They lived, ate, and breathed music. Only recently found out that Billy Beck, who wrote this very song "Free" (and many other hits too long to list, including "The Greatest Love of All"-Whitney Houston) was also a child prodigy & classically trained pianist from Youngstown, Ohio. They were always reimagining music, breaking barriers and exploring new horizons for music. Back in the 70's they were only the second all-Black R&B group (behind EW&F) to crossover to hit the Top 100 of the Popular music charts. (Love Rollercoaster '76 & Fire '75).
