From a long-time fly fisherman and tyer, I always appreciate your humble, educational approach to tying flies. You are a credit to the KZbin community. Well done, sir!

Thank you so much. I appreciate it. You would be what my nickname in serbian means. Translate "ohol" in Google translate 😀🍻🍻

Every course i have ever taught has started with this pattern. It is relatively easy and no matter how ugly they are, they will catch fish.

Nicely tied. I haven’t tried making a “rope” of hackle & thread on a bigger. It looks effective & attractive, & I will try it. Thank you. Two things you might want to consider: 1. Making 2 or 3 hackle wraps at the head behind the bead, not just one. It prevents corkscrewing & makes a more prominent head which pushes even more water. 2. I completely agree with wrapping the hackle starting at the tail so it gets wider toward the front, but don’t discard those hackle tips. Save those for making perfect wings on dry flies.

Thanks so much. 1) very good suggestion. Will do. 2) i rarely tie those wings, I prefer cdc or polyyarn since it improve buoyancy. But tying is an amazing hobby, no hard rules just fun😀🍻

Oholi. I love your videos! Keep up the good work. So very few instructional videos have LOGICAL reasons for doing things such as yours do, it is very very much appreciated. I've been thinking a lot about how materials behave underwater, and its thanks to you that I do that and helps me tie better and fish better.

Hi, basic handling procedure, “ never touch your mouth after handling feathers or any foreign materials”! You just don’t know what germs were last left on the feather beed or what ever, the “etc” ones are the worst. Great videos, I always learn something from you. Cheers mate. Harera

You should tell that to the other 10,000 plus who use their fingers to repeatedly stroke their flies with Saliva. I use a damp sponge because of what you said here and also because I don't want to give anyone flies with my saliva on them. Maybe between the two of us?😂

Wow!!!, very thoughtful design of a very common fly. A few questions: #1. Why did you wrap your hackle around the thread? I missed your explanations......#2. With the incredible variety of jigs, tungsten weights, threads etc...etc....is it my understanding that this fly you designed is for shallow, slow moving water?,,,,,however, casting at 20 meters (60 feet ) is impressive...........help me understand how a 60 foot cast will make this fly so attractive.....Again. thank you for all your expertise......your videos require many replay on my art

Hi, thanks so much for your comment. 1) it reinforces hackle. Makes it more durable without adding wire. 2) casting it 20m doesn't make it attractive. It makes me less visible to fish. Fish i am fishing here are spooked easily. Literally leader in the air can scare them. So getting further away plus long leader helps a bit.

Thanks Vladimir, how would you change it to fish in deeper darker water? I normally just fish dries and nymphs but in my local river there are some deep pools that still hold big trout, i thought i'd see whats in there by offering them a bugger!
@Oholisfliesandfishing

Deeper... depending on depth i will use smaller or larger beads. Less hackle wraps... Maybe some rubber legs. Rubber will give away some extra movement so fish can feel it with lateral line better

In romania we use this for chub and sometimes on the smaller hooks even grayling jump on it.

Thanks a lot. I may choose yo lengthen the hackle if i need more water to be pushed or increase silhouette of the fly ... I may even use dry fly hackle to push more water

Absolute classic! To this day still produced 1 of the largest trout have ever caught 24" rainbow 30 years ago. Funny thing is I don't think I have fished one since. Thank you for sharing your talents 👍 🪰
