"It's like he's the only one that matters, and he /is/ the only one that matters" just wow x) You guys are gonna see the testaments to so many things that you discuss in the future episodes it's kinda crazy :"D Really great thinking! Also, funnily enough, when you talk about Oikawa's "smooth swing jazz", he bends down to tie his shoelaces, and you can see the ref hesitating - that's because he wanted to blow the whistle, but he sees that a player isn't ready yet. Oikawa purposefully fiddled with his laces just to make some time for himself to talk to Kindaichi and address his issue.

Oikawa is so fun to hate. Out of all Karasuno’s opponents, he’s my favorite personality wise
@AllTheArtsy2 жыл бұрын
Love this title so much. Oikawa Tōru is not a genius. But he is a damn good setter. Because he works hard. Because he loves what he does. Because he listens to and trusts his teammates. Because he dedicates his life to furthering his skill. He is not a genius, but he can become one of the greatest ever because he wants it, he cultivates it, and he is willing to put in the work. His attitude can come off petty, callous or immature sometimes, but he is a teenager. I can't wait until you (and caught up to S4 anime-onlys) get to see who he becomes 💖
@termindterguta35142 жыл бұрын
but it's actually wrong, just that oikawa doesn't know it at this time. one of the greatest messages from haikyuu is that no one is born a genius, right now oikawa is using excuses for his "weakness". i mean, HE CAN LITERALLY PLAY AT 100% WITH EVERYBODY.
@GaneshKumar-zd4mf2 жыл бұрын
imagine oikawa in shiratorizawa and ushiwaka + oaikawa freaking duo that never happen
@AllTheArtsy2 жыл бұрын
@@termindterguta3514 It's not wrong tho. Oikawa is not a genius. But in Haikyuu there definitely are geniuses. And that's not to say that they don't work- because genius without work stagnates or never has a chance to reveal itself in the first place. You're right, Oikawa was probably using that as an excuse in middle school, as he saw Kageyama's genius swiftly coming to take over. But I think it also makes sense to be realistic to oneself. He acknowledged it, and didn't wallow for too long

it's refreshing to see reactors give kageyama AND oikawa the benefit of the doubt. like, with kageyama trying to improve himself but ofc it will not happen overnight but at least he's being consistent. meanwhile with oikawa, let's be honest, he has a very punchable face most of the time but we all can't deny his skills as a setter AND as a captain (arguably one of the best captain in all of hq). great reaction guys!

@@cliftonfestusmalvea9777 no, ushiwaka is the best player in their prefecture, otherwise why is he in the Japan national team and went to nationals all the time. It doesn’t matter if oikawa is better at blocking, serving or setting. U just need a mediocre setter to set high for ushiwaka and they make a point either way. In Volleyball the goal is to make ur points than ur opponent. So Ushiwaka is better
@bluntbangs2 жыл бұрын
@@swolebodydaddy3816 Aside from the fact that the series clearly states that Oikawa is the BEST overall player in the prefecture, I'll explain to you why what you said isn't correct. When you talk about what makes a player better, you have to consider that player in a vacuum. The issue is the level of competition. If you put Ushiwaka and Oikawa on two different teams with mediocre players, then yes, Ushiwaka would probably win because he's an attacker and can score points by just being stronger, whereas Oikawa is a support player and can't force his spikers to hit the ball correctly no matter how good he sets. But if you put both of them on high level teams, I would take Oikawa every time. Ushiwaka is very strong at spiking, but at the highest level of competition, blockers aren't going to get blown away like high school Japanese volleyball. Against international competition, Ushiwaka's strength isn't anything special. That's where Oikawa's skill at many parts of the game would edge over Ushiwaka. I won't get into spoilers, but let's just say that I know I'm right based on stuff that happens later. So if you wanna say that Ushiwaka is "better" than Oikawa because his particular talent happens to be OP against his exact current competition, then sure, but I'd rather look at players outside of only their current environment and judge from there.

Lmfao when I heard "without him they(seijoh) would be nothing" I laughed because of what Oikawa himself says in S2. I hope they catch it and discuss it then haha. Great reaction as always! Honestly it's not mandatory to like Oikawa, but I think a lot of reactors definitely read his character wrong. Because he's flashy, he stands out, and because he's always teasing, he comes off as an asshole. But he's never once lied about the ability of his team mates nor has he ever looked down on them. The reason he's good at setting is precisely because it's NOT all about him. Oikawa wasn't born a genius, but he's worked his ass off to get incredibly close. EVERY setter has to be the conductor of the team, it should be true for every team. It's not just Oikawa, and the more of S1 and S2 you watch the more you understand that it's Oikawa who realized first that you can't be a selfish conductor. it's what makes him such a good opponent.

If you are a sports player, trash talking is an everyday activity that you will find. Pyswar is a normal thing in sports and mental strength is a must in sports. I see people like Oikawa every day because there must be someone in the team like him, being the center of the team and a good provocateur in bringing down the opponent's mentality with this trash talk note, not in the form of insults but insinuating the opponent's game and making confident gestures. If you know Neymar Jr then that is enough to explain a typical player like oikawa

I mean, its the captain's job to conduct...idk what else to say lol. If that one guy on the team is great at leading and directing, then yes everyone should listen to him. Does a foot soldier question the general's decision? No, but that doesn't mean the General ignores his foot soldier's opinions. he just takes all the opinions, including his own and decide on which one is the superior option. and if he decides his own decision is best, then he makes that the path the team takes. ofc whether it succeeds or not is both on them. a great leader knows that they shoulder both success and failure.

College level sport in Japan (and anywhere in the world) is different from the Usa standard. In Usa schools are pretty much sports franchises with a side of studying, they even identify themselves with divisions and whatnot. Everywhere else, school sport is just school sport. If you are serious about playing, you join a team and compete in the official federation's many divisions. Japanese high school clubs have competition, but you could already see that every prefecture has like 4 good teams and 100 clubs that basically join the tournament because they "are supposed to". It's a big deal for the big teams, but "the big tournament" is pretty much 3-4 days every semester + 3-4 on national level if you qualify, not so much a year long commitment.
@AllTheArtsy2 жыл бұрын
exactly. in the US, you know the only way to get into pro is to make your way through school teams. in Japan, it's more likely to get recruited based on your performance in city/prefecture local clubs rather than your school team (although the top players usually have both a strong school team and play for a local club)

Nishinoya said that there is a higher year from Kitagawa Daiichi whose serve is crazy, that's Oikawa
