Oil and filter change in Aprilia Pegaso 650 MX 1996

The owner buys 10W40 oil for this engine.
Capacity is 2 or 2.2 litres, just top up the oil to the proper level.
How to check the oil level due to the manual:
1. Stop the engine and let it cool down for at least ten minutes. This will allow oil to flow back to the oil pan and to cool down.
2. Start the engine and let it idle for one minute, in order to ensure the filling up of the oil tank.
3. Stop the engine and keep the vehicle in vertical position with both wheels resting on the ground.
4. Remove the dipstick, wipe it off, put it back in without screwing it in, then take it out and check the oil level.
The amount of oil between MIN and MAX is about 300 cm3.
The level should reach (but not exceed) the MAX level.
Torques:
Drain plug on the frame: 27 Nm
Drain plug on the engine: 30 Nm due to the engine manufacturer manual (M18x1,5 bolt). For newer models that have a M24x2 bolt, the torque is 40 Nm.
Oil filter cover: 10 Nm

A little mistake in the video. The drain plug torque for this model year is 30 Nm (M18x1,5 bolt). For newer models that have a M24x2 bolt, the torque is 40 Nm.

Very concise and helpful, don't be afraid to add verbal instruction as you go! One thing that might be helpful to add: The Pegaso has an oil strainer on the left side of the frame. When that gets clogged, it blocks oil flow and your red oil light will come on the dash. It's worth the extra time to remove and clean the oil strainer every couple of oil changes. :o) Thank you for taking time to put this together and help out a lot of people!

hey just wanted to say thank you! you just showed a mechanic of 20 years how to get the oil out of this Italian bike.. im use to good old honda yamaha Suzuki and kawasaki.. this is the first oil in frame bike ive ever had... thanks very much.. also idk if your a dog lover or not but i have a coe pilot on most of my offroad rides.. check it out on my channel you might get a giggle

Hello I was wondering have you ever had to replace the one-way clutch on the 1996 aprilia pegaso 650 and if you have what is the torque setting for the flywheel nut as I cannot find it in the manual please let me know thank you for your help with this Matter.

Hello, thanks for the good Video! Manual instruct also that You need to bleed the oil delivery pump, by opening small valve on the bottom of the oil filter compartment... New bike for me, don't know will it be really needed or not (at least You succeed to keep motor in good condition without bleeding the pump), just mentioning this... Cheers, P.S from Finland

Doesn't it say in the manual that this is only necessary if the engine has been rebuilt? From my point of view, it is more effective to add a cheap oil to flush the engine for 10-15 minutes with the engine running. Then empty it and put the final oil.
