Well...these are a mid 20 teens model. I'll tell you one thing, that engine and mower are tough. i had one for 6 or so years before it got stolen. It ran like a top every time. Had no shed. Left it out in the elements every winter.....didn't damage the mower at all. It's a tank. I was going to finally change the oil but it got stolen before I could do it. I think it would have outlasted me. LOL

Thank you for posting this video. I bought a Yard Machine PW510 last year and was always wondering how to change the oil in this mower. I find this very helpful. Once again, thank you

Thank you. We made a mistake and changed the oil before I watcher your video and we did it wrong. Tks again.

Like everyone else says...Thank you for showing me. I have the exact mower and always wondered how to change the oil. Thanks for the simple explanation.

Very well explained. Just purchased an M70 craftsman with the same setup . Will have to ensure that I have a container to fit under the body to collect the oil . Beats having to tip the mower over as I need to do in my 125 cc Yard machine.

These are awesome mowers for the price. I had one for 5 years. Never an oil change. The thing couldn't die. And then it was stolen. I was sad.

have a few of these, i think i overfilled one once and it smoked now it always seems to smoke compared to the rest. Even when its been drained out.
@barryestell63243 жыл бұрын
You should start your mower and get the oil warm so it comes out faster and completely

Nice video. Except when checking the oil, do not screw it in. Remove oil Wipe off and have the dipstick rest on top. Remove and check. Should be about 20oz.😉

It's even easier if you use a fluid extraction pump. They're only like 10 bucks. Less mess, and no tools required then.

What other tools fo I need to work on thus type of mower? Please. What size sockets or anything else. I have o lawn mower that won't start. But really need it working asap.
@Whitestrash2 жыл бұрын
Usually for something like this you'll need a 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 and a couple screwdrivers. That'll cover about everything on a push mower.

Well this is lame; I too have a Yard Machines 21” 140cc. The 500E version does not have an oil drain plug, and if it does it’s NOT in the place or even relative area. I cannot find it.
@Whitestrash8 ай бұрын
Just pull the dipstick and turn the whole machine upside down into a drain pan. Or get a fluid pump and suck out the old oil.

Hello I'm helping a friend of mine change the oil in a yard machine pushmower P510 they just bought but it didn't come with a manual. The Serial # is 1P51NUA2008293A1456 I tried looking this mower up and I can't find what the oil capacity is? About how much oil should I put in? Can anyone help me out?
@Whitestrash2 жыл бұрын
Someone in the comments says it's 20 oz.

I applaud this video but disagree with his process. It is a messy time consuming and has too many steps. There is a much easier process. I Purchased, a 500 cc fluid extractor on Amazon for $17. There are many other cheaper extractors available. 1. Warm up engine. 2. insert extractor tube into crank case. 3. draw out the used oil. 4. replenish with new oil. 5. this took me under 10 minutes to accomplish. I put the use oil back in the container that the new oil came in. PC. There was not one drop of oil anywhere to clean up. I know I will be changing the oil more often because of this.
@Whitestrash5 ай бұрын
I completely agree. At the time, I didn't have a fluid extractor. Now I do and it's one of the best tools you can have! I use it all the time.

I use a suction gun. It's easier and almost zero mess.

do you really need to change it frequently? just top it up.
@Whitestrash4 жыл бұрын
You should at least once a year.

If you dont want to blow the engine or have the engine seize up on you, you should change the oil if its not the color of new oil (gold) or see though.
@SalvadorSTMZ4 жыл бұрын
@@Aye_Alan not true. Good oil could be dark in color as well. In fact, oil turns brown after only a couple minutes of use. Just change it every 1 year.
@jerryabell Жыл бұрын
That is not how to change oil d.a. Remove the filler cap and tip mower on side put a pan under it to catch oil
@warrenpuckett4203 Жыл бұрын
5W30 synthetic also is good. Had to use the generator this winter. Used it enough to do a oil change. Got some left over. I tipped it over on the carb side. Should not do that. Yep oil did get in the carb. Then flipped to the other side to take the blade off and sharpen it. Drained the carb twice. There was oil in it. I guess that is normal for those engines. Pulled the plug and cranked to see if oil got in the cylinder. Just in case it hydrolocked. Cleaned the plug with gasoline. Carb cleaner did not survive the winter. So why look here? Could not find the manual that came with it. Probably find when I am looking for something else. Hope @shawnmckee6951 is right.

You're not supposed to thread the dipstick in to check the oil.
@Whitestrash3 жыл бұрын
On some engines you do, on some you don't. My experience with lawn mowers is you thread it in, but i could be wrong on this one.

You can tip the mower upside down and drain it thru the dipstick tube
