i'm going to attempt to do this sometime this year with am mfa350 adapter. watchjrgo did this conversion last month, but didn't show the detailed closeup like you did. jr did say the bolts were 5/16 x 18 x 1 inch (coarse thread)

@@wickedws694 thanks for the reply. what did you do about the holes in the raditor where the lines connected?

I just plugged them after i removed that cooler. Haven’t had a problem at all.

So question? Was it indeed 5/16 X 1” or 1 1/4” long? I was also told it’s 5/16-18 sae coarse . One guys said 1 1/8 or 1 1/4” works NO Gaskets needed since it’s machined surfaces on block and adapter. What bolt did you end up using

@@Chevro91 i actually used another video to eliminate the adapter totally. video name is "S10 Blazer FREE FIX Oil Cooler Removal" by robhoffman20. i had to buy some tools, but you might have them already. as always, read through the comments on that one to see how it went for other people. it def worked for my 1995 s10 4.3

Does it need the gasket for the oil adapter since it’s inside the filter?
@wickedws6945 жыл бұрын
Kevin Hong i belive the gasket is to give it the appropriate clearance that way the filter goes on the right way an not to over tightened oil filter. It will give it just the right snug fit.

I reached out to melling and they told me not to use the gasket. I guess if it didn't hurt anything in your case it doesn't matter.
@wickedws6943 жыл бұрын
Yea i guess, it worked great in my case. Only reason i used the gasket was because the oil cooler had one.

@@wickedws694 everybody has a problems with the cooler lines, mine are leaking on my 95 yukon I got the new lines and thought you know what I dont wanna deal with this again so I ordered the adapter and short oil filter. With better quality oil nowadays I dont think its needed but if anybody need it I guess I can sell the lines with cooler adapter and make my money back.

@@martinez1701a ever since i deleted the cooler lines, i havent had a problem, i did go with a longer oil filter from Napa. Post your oil cooler & hoses on Ebay, im sure someone will be interested in it.

@@wickedws694 yeah Ill throw it in my parts cleaner and pretty it up, maybe ill make some money back too. Its a good system just a little troublesome especially on my 4X4, a better radiator and trans cooler are better for towing anyway.

i put a 283 in my nova and after running for about 5 minutes she’ll spit out like 1-2 quarts of oil out of the oil filter, at first i thought i just needed a new filter and then i got one and the same thing happened, do you know if this will fix that?
@wickedws6943 жыл бұрын
It will fix it, thats if you still have the original oil cooler that most GM SBC came with that mounts in between the engine block its self & oil filter. Also before all that make sure you have the correct oil filter for it & that you dont have the old oil filter rubber seal still stuck to the oil filter housing. Remove your oil filter an make sure the mounting surface is clean an no old rubber gasket or baked on grease, that will cause rhe oil filter not to sit correctly an shoot oil out.

Hey! I have an 87 formula that I am swapping a 98 350 vortec motor into. Is this the same engine that is in your trans am? I know vortec motors didn’t come in the 87. And I’ve never heard of a 3rd gen with an oil cooler so I assume you have the same swap as what I’m working on. How has this adapter kit worked for you? have you had any trouble with oil pressure or leakage? Please respond ASAP if you can. I’m trying to get the swap done in a week to take the car to a big show. Thanks

This is rhe original engine for my Trans am 3rd gen, many 3rd gens came with different options. This engine is an L98 TPI

WB -AZ because the oil cooler started to leak. Easiest an fast fix was to add the adapter.
