It always amazes me how dark you start off but then how amazing and right it looks by the end! I would be so scared to have such dark values in my work in fear of messing it up so badly but you've shown me it is actually okay to just go for it💓

All you have to do is tone your canvas before you start. Pick either a raw umber or burnt umber wash at a middle value or go for a neutral grey.

@@mrssherin that is exactly what i did when i first started to paint skin . My first work was an african lady and when i added the highlight it judt pops out it was easy and turned out beautiful

So good! So many people have trouble with hands, myself included, but you make it look so effortless and in many instances I think your paintings looks better than the original reference.
@NeonsStyleHD7 жыл бұрын
There are heaps of techniques for drawing/painting hands/heads etc. Divide by 3, intersect lines etc etc but you just go screw all that and just paint it and it works every time. I like the way you think. :) I'm a landscape painter, and have to do a portrait, so rather than do all those techniques which mean you redo the painting over and over. I prefer your way, and you are helping me learn how to do what i need to. Thank you.

I’m a beginner with oil paints. I watch your videos for tips and techniques. Thank you so much for sharing what you know about oil painting. I’m going to start off studying human anatomy and work my way from there. Mixing the colors I don’t quite got it 100% but I know with a lot of practice I will get it right . Again thank you 🙏🏼
