BOOM!!!! Right on baby!!! You got it, optical mixing is more for portraits impressionistic-ally, taching and double loading is for impressionistic landscapes, that's it right there man! Glad to hear someone else say what I've been self teaching...myself.

I appreciate your thoughts about art.It reminded me how was it again to learn about art. I dont know if I can call myself a professional artist yet but I have a univ degree for painting. I have been painting for years but sometimes I just feel lost. When I hear stuff like this, I get reminded why I love leaning art and painting in general. Thank you.

I LOVE your conversation here! I totally agree, I think the best paintings are those that mimic how the human eye sees the world. There are areas of focus and other areas that are softer and have less information. Great video!

@sentry98345 жыл бұрын
You can always use Alkyd oil paint. It's a fast drying oil paint. You can also add medium to increase the drying time. I never liked the plasticky look of acrylics. It drys too fast and is very hard on brushes.

Thank you for putting things into words what I've felt for ages but couldn't explain. I appreciate photo realistic paintings but I've never understood the point of them. Photography is an art form, why not leave it to that? My favorite paintings are ones that blend realistic with something more- be it more saturated color, loose brushstrokes or some other added element. I love your deconstructions and I hope to be brave enough to try it sometime :)

you inspired me to start painting, good sir. I’m first practicing with watercolors and I’m loving blending the colors and giving a piece much depth. Hopefully I’ll gain enough experience on colors and how to piece them to graduate to using acrylics and then oils. I do want to ask however, what’s your story in getting started with painting? What paints did you use and how often did you do it, too?

I'm not sure if you read your comments but, recently I hated drawing. I myself am not that good of an artist, decades from being professional. I am 12 years old. I dont want you to read some sob story so I'll get to the point. The words you use make me understand the concept of art so well. In one of your videos, (I dont know exact words), you said something along the lines of "an artist should not want to put an exact replication of the image, but make the viewer feel a certain way." That made me come out of my hole. My art feels better to do. I like drawing again. Thank you for listening if you did :)

Your portraits are absolutely amazing! So enjoyable to watch you bring them to life. I've been finding myself picturing you painting "make-up" on a live model. I am a recent follower and i have doubts regarding the choice of color pallette for skin tones. Could you please do a video on using various colors for skin tone like you used red, green and other colors. Also, if one does not want to paint in normal skin colors but in some other particular color, say blue for example. How should one go about painting the entire face with the help of blue color?

Very attractive modern style - very interesting approach and the vibrancy of the painting is truly charming - I would like to see you paint a portrait of a “ naked face” with soft opposites of warm and cool colors e. g. a light haired, blue-green eyed person But I really like your approach and your very direct explanation of what you do and why It is visually very interesting and looks alive ( breating)

It's something I often struggle with and then end up using too much/little contrasts or the colours are just a little off. I'd really appreciate it :) Thanks for all the videos you've made so far, always very helpful and well explained, really apprecialte that.

Random question but do you think it’s better to look at a reference photo from a digital device (iPad/laptop etc.) or is it better to print it out?
@dingdong46755 жыл бұрын
Vanessa probably print it off, as the brightness on your screen can be adjusted and it s just easier to print it off. The tone you’ll get from observing a printed off picture will be more consistent.
@AlpayEfe5 жыл бұрын
It’s actually better to print it out because you can never match the brightness of a screen
