Yep, I got a 2007 Chevy Impala 3.9l v6 204,000 miles. Now. 1st time around 150,000 mile guesstimate. I replaced that thing was a pain getting it in. About $35. With help of a friend The next time I got the same oil sensor error again and found out it was just dirty oil. Over 5k with a full synthetic oil. One sensor should last 3/4 life of car. Right around 200k I got that oil sensor error again. Changed that dirty cheap oil to Amsoil 100% synthetic 5w30. Oil sensor error cleared itself. So far so good and I can feel the oil pressure is up cuz it idles right out my driveway which has never done that before. Remote works fine too. I'm not a dealer, just ur average old Chevy car owner. Always change the oils on a regular intervals.

221.5K miles is awesome. Currently I have a 2013 and I'm around 119K and I'd like for it to get to 200K

And he still took it to the dealer 😉

Mines at 243k, not too bad. Trans is a bit wonky sometimes but overall not bad

I did it myself, it was a bit hard but with the right tool was easy.

My advice is when you replace the oil pressure replace it with AC Delco 1 I had problems with the aftermarket ones

My 2006 monte carlo 3.9l started having this issue at around the same mileage and I wasn't concerned because I knew the oil pressure sensor was the problem. I currently just hit 222,000 miles and it's crazy because yours happened at almost the same mileage as mine.

I also have an 06 Monte. Mine is the 3.5 LT with a little over 200k. I just started having this issue but without the chime and warning to pull over. It's just that the red teapot light comes on for a second then goes off. Happened twice in over 2 weeks. The car drives and sounds great! Should I be overly concerned yet? I'm sure just the sensor.

Are you taking about kpa? Oil pressure should be around 20 at idle, and 40 to 50psi going down the road.. (not 140 like you mentioned unless you were talking kpa)

Will this cause the transmission to act really weird?? I had my transmission replaced at 127k was very cold that night..loud whining then it rumbled and died, no gears...Aamco said the transmission pump went, fast forward to present day, it's acting similar.. almost identical to the old transmission! But I shut the car off and restart it, transmission stays in gear awhile and shifts beautifully..then does the whining and cuts out again, restart and goes away... Oil pressure sensor possibly?? I love the car but this is crazy
@DjSmoothNY5 жыл бұрын
a bit late, but no this wont affect the transmission. having it rebuilt at aamco will though. i went to them and they did the bare minimum to fix my transmission. i ended up just over a year later having to have it rebuilt again.

Hi Nolan.I found your video after watching a video about the "Engine Hot/AC Off" message on a '06 Impala.I just bought a '06 Impala a week ago for $2000 with 197,000 miles on it and I love the car so far.What I wanted to ask you is how long have you had your Impala and what have been some of the things you've had done to it? The Impala I bought needed tires and a new thermostat fixed my "Engine Hot" message. Hope to hear back from you. Thanks! Gene

On my 1989Greeen account there is a video called "Throttle Problems on a Chevy Impala." I had issues with my TPS indicator and then the throttle went out around 170K miles. I had it replaced, had my spark plugs and wires replaced around 155K, had my transmission checked twice at around 190K and around 220K; this turned out well as my transmission was fine. I had both headlights replaced around 210K, which was a great improvement. I replaced both sets of brakes, front bushings, engine mounts as well, at around 210K. I did a little body work on the bottoms of the front doors in sanding and spraying matching paint I found online at an auto restoration website. My plan was to get this car to 300K before selling it off. It was running fairly smoothly until one month ago at 223K, a deer ran into the side of my car on the open highway at night, and I had the option of buying it back or totaling it. I bought it back and sold it to a dealer who had a friend who was needing a car in the worst way. So at 223,502, my days of Impala ownership ended.

So... You are just sitting there, with the camera staring at the dashboard looking at your mileage, telling us about what the dealer did to your car. We appreciate the anecdote, but would like it more with at least pictures of the parts involved.

Does a bad sensor cause oil to burn more? I also get the oil pressure warning when taking a very sharp turn if the oil is low. ‘09 impala
@jodypadilla96125 жыл бұрын
No, it will not cause oil to burn more, bad piston rings will do that. If your oil level is low, of course you will lose oil pressure momentarily on a sharp turn.
@dmdltz8434 жыл бұрын
Hugo Arreguin this car can go through oil quickly depending how much driving you do or HOW you drive, you need to be vigilant about oil levels. My 06 LTZ would let me know if it was time to change oil if that light popped on during a turn and once oil was changed and fresh it stopped, make sure you use good oil, and filter. Sensor is not gonna cause oil to burn BUT sometimes when these sensors go bad they will also leak, so might seem to be burning through oil but it could just be leaking from the pressure switch, great car, fast AF but be careful with and watch your oil!
@RcKrazy4204 жыл бұрын
Always check your oil. Rule of thumb is if it doesn't tick while the computer says low oil pressure then it's a false reading

2010 impala v6 w/ 220k miles before tranny went out. Engine still runs like new. Just a really weak ass 6 speed auto tranny.

Jay Fountains my transmission died after loud whining now it's doing the same thing after replacement months later, funny my gears quit but shut off the car and restart it...goes just fine then gives up again, these cars are a nightmare
@theindustryfarm74052 жыл бұрын
There were a couple times in one day where the 4 speed in mine would slip when I put it In drive and it would aggressively shift into first. Thought I was about to blow the bitch out the car 😭. Should I slap some Lucas in or get a new tranny

Good advice, but for myself, it’s a 10 minute job.
@johnspooner41283 жыл бұрын
My lights been coming on sometimes but the car doesn't lose power, how can you tell if you really have low oil pressure vs a bad sensor? I got no error codes, does that mean my oil pressure really is low?
@mikeoneill73603 жыл бұрын
@@johnspooner4128 First thing to do, check your oil, if it’s full via the dipstick it’s more than likely a bad oil pressure sensor. A check engine light or low oil pressure light should be coming on. A code scanner would be necessary in order to confirm the code. The higher level scanners will provide you with a oil pressure sensor reading, so that’s another way to confirm this issue. You can also remove the sensor and use a oil pressure gauge if you don’t have a scanner, sometimes it’s difficult to do because of location. When replacing the sensor, check the harness, that could also be an issue.
@mikeoneill73603 жыл бұрын
If you have an Impala, this is a very common issue and GM issued a TSB. If you change the sensor, change the harness. The parts are very inexpensive......
