there's no need to go through the trouble you've demonstrated. remove the shield covering the manifold and pop the pipe going down to the container from the air filter housing and remove the air filter housing cover and mass air flow sensor.. this should take you two minutes. now you have enough room (i'm a big guy with big hands so if I can do this you cupcakes should be able to handle it.) Now go down under the manifold and pull the plug for the sensor and then just install socket and extension as in this video and remove the sensor. it's that simple, and if it's still there, there's a large shroud on the bottom of these cars that will take you quite a while to remove but you do not need to remove it to gain access to the sensor... my way 10 X easier.

Great Video but even though we followed it to the letter I had problems reconnecting the wiring. I finally found the Yellow Seal and a Plastic piece in the old one and I removed those then put into new switch. It made it a lot easier to plug sensor wires up. If I had not noticed those pieces in Old Sensor and NOT in replacement part I suppose I would still be trying to plug sensor wires back in. Also, I found a 27 MM Oil Sensor Socket on Amazon that made it a lot easier to reinstall new Sensor. It is like a Spark Plug Socket but made for Oil Sensors.

Couldn't unplug the sensor from underneath as shown in the video on an '08 impala because starter was in the way. Removed the heat shield and went under the exhaust manifold. Very tight, but got it done.
@danblumel Жыл бұрын
I did it from both the bottom and the top, removed the 3 exhaust heat shield screws and 3 screws on the plastic shroud under the car for bottom access. Much easier to disconnect the connector from the sensor from the bottom & easier to get the socket on the sensor from the bottom. Once I had the socket on it, I inserted the ratchet with long extension onto the socket & removed the old sensor. There is a silicone rubber seal that should stay on the power connector, but it may stay in the old sensor when removing the connector. Make sure to reuse the seal back onto the connector if that happens (mine was yellow colored). One more note, it was difficult to get the new sensor started into the threads (I'd say almost impossible from above with my arms). It also seems to be canted upward slightly so a bit tricky to get it started into the threads, thinking it's mounting is exactly perpendicular. This also made reinsertion of the connector also a bit tricky before it could be fully inserted. The job took me 2 hours learning these "tricks". If doing it a 2nd time, only about an hour or so.

@LemurMonitors3 жыл бұрын
Hi! It could be a defective sensor, but can also be sludge build up in the oil causing a blockage and reducing oil pressure, you should inspect the oil and make sure that it looks clean. If it's not either the sensor or the oil condition, it could be a defective oil pump. Also, be sure to check oil levels as low engine oil will cause this as well! Good luck!

HOW DO YOU RESET THE CODE ? And What’s a drive cycle?
@LemurMonitors4 жыл бұрын
You can use a scan tool, or in a pinch you could disconnect your battery for a bit. One important note though - if you're getting a 'permanent' code you can't clear it, the car will do it on its own eventually. A drive cycle is a series of tests the car runs on itself under different conditions - it's different for each car but in general it involves: 1) Letting the car sit over night then starting it and idling until it's fully warmed up 2) Driving around town in stop and go traffic at different speeds 3) Driving on the highway at a few different steady speeds

Our low oil pressure indicator was on and off during our trip home. It never threw any codes. I check oil, it’s full, filter is new. I’m changing the sensor today anyways.

Had the same problem due to lack of space But I eventually was able to Hook the Socket At just the Right angle to get a firm Grip

So what about the shroud covering from the oil pan to front bumber? Found out can't use your method without taking it off. How about suggesting a deep well socket? Another problem I ran into appreciate what you guys are trying to do but you wasted half my day with your cavalier attitude on the details.
