May not be much of a suggestion. I do the weekly test runs, maintenance on a couple of our standby generators. On ours, if the water temp is not at least 145 Deg F - the ECU will tell it to not turn over / try to start. In our "standby" environment - the generators are made to come online immediately, and go directly to full operating throttle right when it starts, so one of the requirements to do that is the 145 deg F coolant temp.

As others have said, disconnect the battery, charge it up, reconnect. That should "reboot" the computer properly. If not, it's either the computer or a wiring issue. For the energized to run cell, (fuel shut off), you can run a simple pigtail wire from the battery direct. Just disconnect to shut it down. It is possible it's the engine monitor device, odds are, it's a wiring issue. Don't care what people might say but, field mice still get into things, especially during the winter months. Cheers :)

A couple places to start: 1) Jumper the remote start terminals together (Below that main start switch) and put that main start switch to the left and see if it does anything different. 2) Look at the emergency shutoff big red button, push it in and reset it a couple times, maybe its not making good contact, one of its contacts supplies power to the starter through starter output of the controller.

@@Northern_Farmer If ECM is booting up as shown it is most likely fine. Voltage is not ideal, but the ECM will still try to crank at anything above 10v (if memory serves me correct). Most likely it is a bad connection to a solenoid or a sensor. Starter solenoid or crank sensor. You could try resetting all the connectors to try to clean the off. Wacker does have a pretty good flowchart diagram in their repair manual that will help you chase down the problem. Been there and done that and what you are seeing is pretty common, bad connection, of not a blown fuse. ECM is not throwing any codes which is good. If it were the light would be on by the exclamation point. Pretty sure the emergency shut-off is not thrown, for if it was the ECM would display such. But double check I am not 100% sure on that model and age. Hopefully it is just a connection or fuse to the ECM, if not might be a bad ECU. Seen that before. Good luck.

If I where to hazard a guess it is battery issue, but one on the computer board. If you are lucky it has the holder for a watch style button or disc battery and you just have to replace with same. Otherwise it would be a soldered on battery. Then the issue is, if this the case, whether the board forgot its programming when the battery went down.

Is it still under warranty, If the warranty has expired so that you don't lose any warranty time? Install a manual start switch. Hook-up the start SW. to a relay or relays with enough contacts so that you can bypass any and all blocks that are keeping you from starting the engine, I, E, the computer itself, ignition, fuel cut-off valve. You get the idea, so when you have this problem in the future, you just open the new manual start SW and press a starter button which you will also have to install, the start button will get its power from the new manual start SW so that it is dead under normal operation and presto your back in operation.

Oh its a 2012 I believe ..bought it used
@chucksteward26153 жыл бұрын
@@Northern_Farmer If your sure that that's what you really want, but first you must think hard, as you know that, that computer was put on there for a reason, that being so that when you flipped the start SW the computer would take over and monitor the operation so that your generator would not suffer any problems in your absence. so therefore the unit does not have any gauges, idiot lights, or alarm systems to warn you of any problems. An unmonitored machine could destroy itself if say it had a loss of oil pressure and was allowed to continue to run on. A manual start SW would be OK for say an emergency and had monitoring gauges and was monitored. Generators that run unattended and most do, have protective devices to shut down the unit if something goes haywire, yours won't. I see that the computer has a digital readout and diagnostics buttons. It's not telling you what's wrong with the generator? and another thing you said a new computer board would cost an arm & leg. If your sure it's bad, take it out & take it to an electronic repair shop. They most likely will need to order a schematic to be able to troubleshoot it but may be able to fix it for peanuts. the repair could be as simple as a fifty-cent resistor, capacitor, or a transistor that is bad.

Northern farmer switch set up so it automatically starts when the power goes out. Usually externally wired into the grid. Not sure if some generators are set up internally or not though. It switches the power over to the generator and cuts the feed to the main power line. Ours has a auto or manual start switch. It can be wired into the grid to auto start when the power goes out but still needs a transfer switch so it doesn’t back feed.
