I saw a post today that said "if you find yourself in a situation where you're in a taxi and you think he has bad intentions and probably taking a wrong or shady direction just pretend to be talking on the phone to your dad and recite this: Hello dad, you're waiting for me there? Oh! my uncle is there too? then pretend to lower your voice and go like: when did he get out of prison? didn't he stab a taxi driver? they let him out that fast?" it may not actually work but its worth a try and it's hilarious

Safety tip: If you ever think someone is following you(or even if you don’t think they are still do this.) If you are walking to your car alone and someone is following only unlock the driver’s door. If you unlock them all then someone can slip into your car. If you are carrying stuff, just throw it into the passenger side once you get in. But unless you have to, never unlock all the doors. Even if you aren’t being followed, there are thieves that will hide on one side of your car and when you unlock the doors they will hop in. Just be safe Edit: This is only if you have a car that has an option to only unlock the drivers door. With my car, if you click the unlock button once it unlocks only the driver’s door, and if you click it twice it unlocks all the doors

When i was a teenager i wanted to take a theater camp, just a week long and there were lots of kids. A couple of my friends went with me and on day one we had auditions. We sit down and waited for the director. Half way through the auditions he shows up. I immediately got bad vibes. Really bad vibes. He was dressed nice, didn’t look gross and i thought it was just because he was a stranger. Week ends, cheap production over. YEARS LATER, finishing 6th grade, my mom looked stressed. She told me he was a pedophile and would convince girls to do things for roles. He bailed out of jail with money he didn’t have and we haven’t heard of him since

Storytime! So this happened last month. I went to the dollar store 4 blocks from my house. I went in and out. As I was walking home, a white van drove slowly behind me. Had a bad sinking feeling so I booked it. I ran the rest of the 2 blocks home, bolted through the front door and locked it. I told my brother during a panic attack and he had to calm me down for a good 45 minutes. And I already had a shitty day on top of that.... so that was lovely.... 😑

My sister (25) lives in a small rental house (2 bedroom, 1 bathroom) with her roommate which is gone for long periods of time (2-5 months) so she basically lives alone, she always has a ring on her ring finger on her left hand, even though she’s single. She has 2 pairs of worn shoes that she got from her friend who said they weren’t his style anymore and she puts them on her shoe rack next to the door, she puts used coats (from male friends) on her coat rack that’s next to her shoe rack, she puts her tool bag on the floor in a very noticeable place. basically she makes her home look like there’s a man living there. And I asked her why she dose this, she told me that it’s for new friends or delivery guys, or just anyone who knocks on the door, that she doesn’t really trust, she told me that it makes her feel safer. And honestly when I move out I’m going to do the same.

I'm 23. Most of the time I walk, I walk alone. I prefer to walk alone so I don't have to talk to anyone and can just listen to my music. I'm also very shy and I hate being around strangers. I don't trust people. (That's what happens when you're severely bullied every single day you were in school.) So whenever a car is coming or someone is walking close to me. I stop, glare at them, slowly start back up, and never take my eyes off them. My goal is to scare them off or at least give myself time to run away. If someone is walking towards me, I will cross the street before they get too close, or I'll pretend to be talking on the phone, with my mom's number ready to be dailed in case I actually need to call for help. Then once, the car or walker is gone, I happily continue on my way at a normal pace. The only close encounter I've ever had was when I was 12 and walking my mom's dog (who is longer around) and some guy pulled up to the farmer's market and stayed in his car for a second. When he got out and looked at me...I booked it. I didn't tell my mom cuz I didn't want her to worry and ban me from going places on my own but I was flipping scared. Oh and one time in high school I almost got hit by a car but it was my fault. My class and I were coming back from doing earth day (cleaning up trash on the road) and I crossed the street without paying attention. Luckily my boyfriend at the time saw the incoming car and pulled me back.

Ok story time y’all. Back in 2016, my 10th grade religious school group and our teacher went on a confirmation trip to NYC. Our hotel was in Manhattan and we were just getting back from a really long service (It lasted from 8-11(ish) PM and most of us didn’t go to bed until 1:30 or 2 in the morning) and our hotel was a block away. About 2 minutes into the walk as we are about to cross the street, my friend asks if we wanted to try the Tim Horton’s next to the hotel. I immediately get this gut feeling that since it was so late it probably wasn’t a good idea. I tell her “maybe another time when we are all rested” and we went back to the hotel and slept. The next morning, I’m down in the hotel lobby getting breakfast and coffee and I look up at the TV and the news is on. The headline says that the nearby Timmy’s (Tim Horton’s) had been robbed last night. At that very moment I realized I had just saved our asses. This is why you ALWAYS listen to your gut. If something feels off, assume it feels off and listen to your instincts. Stay safe out there guys!

About "stranger danger". At some point kids were taught to say that. Yes people may have been more trusting in the past, but there have always been creepy circumstances. It's just that we didn't have a recognizable way to announce it. I haven't heard anyone use that phrase until fairly recently.

I got a story to tell. It happened earlier this week. Keep in mind that I'm a Christian. This part is important. We were having a really bad thunderstorm that night and I had to take a shower since it was a school night. While I was in the restroom I asked God if I should take a shower since the storm started getting pretty bad. He actually came to me in a gut feeling saying that I shouldn't and that something may happen. As soon I was done using the restroom, I told my parents that I want to wait until the storm passes through. They insisted that I take a shower at that time. I went back to the bathroom; but as soon as I went back to the bathroom the same feeling started to get very strong so I went back to my room to wait out the storm. Moments after I went back to my room the lights went out, but only for a second. Imagine what would happen if I took a shower and the lights go out while I'm in there. Exactly.

Here my story. This happened when I was around 12 or 13. At the time my house was the first one on our street. I usually took walks up and down the street to blow off steam after someone made me upset or to just clear my head. I was walking back to my house when this guy in a car pulled up. I was litterly at the end of my driveway. The guy had a beard and smelled like booze. He asked me if I needed a ride. I said no but didn't say I was in my driveway in case he got any ideas. He then says it's okay and he'll take me home. Of course I said no once again. A neighbor saw what was going on and watched from his porch with his phone in his hands. When the hairy guy saw that someone was watching he quickly drove off. I sometimes think about what could have happened if that neighbor hadn't been watching. I told my mom and of course she went to talk to the neighbor. From what I heard he was chill and told her what happened. I do remember faintly that when I continued walking up my driveway he said something about how I was okay and made it back safely.

My cousin used to sleep on a particular room ( room on right ) but one day my grandma had a gut feeling that she should take her to the other room ( room on left ) After some time the fan on the ceiling in the right room fell down . I don't know how my grandma got that feeling but I am really happy she did . My cousin is a happy 12 year old now . Thanks Grandma ☺️

When I was 12 or 13 my grandparents and I were getting ready to head to an antique place a city over and I had this horrible feeling that morning and my grandfather wanted to take a sedan(he also had a Ford 150) I immediately had this intense feeling and begged him “please poppie can we take the truck” “we need to take the truck” I was pretty firm about it, anyway we are cruising down this country road where the speed limit is 55 mph and I see this gold glimmer out of the corner of my eye , it’s a car (car was going around 60mph) I said to myself oh my gosh it’s not going to stop. As soon as I open my mouth to say watch out we get hit. The impact was on the passenger side where my grandmother and I were sitting . My head hit the window and I got knocked out. I heard everything and felt everything but I couldn’t see. It felt like we were rolling. (Airbags did not deploy) I woke up to my grandmother screaming my grandfather’s name. He broke his sternum on the steering wheel. There were around 20 people that stopped because that road was a busy road.we were on top of the woman’s car (she ended up passing away) my grandfather told the ems about me insisting that we take the truck, the ems said good thing because if we were in that car we would have all been dead on impact. He was amazed that we survived given how severe the crash was

That woman who keeps her brothers shoes on the shoe rack is very smart. I heard a similar home safety hack. Leave a pair of large men's work boots (preferably very worn ones from the thrift store) on your porch/entrance to your apartment. A dog leash, beware of dog sign, and security camera stickers help too regardless if you actually have a dog/cameras. People scoping out your place probably won't risk robbing it if they assume that your place has a dog, a large/fit person living there, and is well guarded. But yes please don't trust people like that creep wanting to put cameras in her apartment. Where I live, there were these brothers back in 2017/18 offering free plumbing/inspection and apparently they looked extremely professional. They'd go door to door around dusk (6 to 10 pm) and asked to go inside. They'd of course scope out the places to see how many people were in there and what age they were. I heard how they usually went after homes of single moms/older people. If someone managed to let them inside then they would knock everyone in the home out and rob them. Word got out about this down where I live with people saying how if you refused to let them in then they'd still force themselves inside. The brothers wore dark sunglasses, hats, and fake facial hair so they were never identified and caught. After a few weeks of this, they moved to another state. I remember being absolutely terrified of this, especially since I was home alone a lot. Please be careful everyone.

I was thirteen, in a thrift shop. My mom left with my sister to go to the kids section with her while I shopped in the womens shirts. I notice this guy shopping a few racks down in the mens, and I get a bad vibe but don't run. He slowly gets closer and closer, until he right next to me, looking at the stuff on top of the racks. My gut feeling is going insane, but I don't book it, reasoning with myself that I might be wrong, and that people would notice if I was kidnapped. A couple walks by, and the guy slowly walks away. That store creeps me out still, and I haven't seen that guy since. I still remember what he looked like, tall white guy, maybe in his mid 30's, baseball cap, and generic shirt.

Story time so I was riding my bike to a tennis court in my naboir hood where I was meeting a friend. On the way, there was like a car ( I think a truck) slowed down but he was heading the opposite way (to my house) and the guy gave me like this weird smile. Also it was infront of this lady's house where she was walking her dog in her yard and she notice something was wrong so the started to talk to me about random things like where are u going and stuff to keep me there ( I wasn't really paying attention because I was looking at the car) and as the car started to drive away she said ok have a nice day and stay safe I said ok and started riding away crying and praying he wouldn't come back (because the way he was going was the way of my house and there was a dead end and a loop and I new he was faster then me) and since the tennis court is opened and you can see it on the road I went to my other friends house right next to the tennis court. Long story short I told them the story and my friends mom went to the tennis court got my friend and we stayed there till we calm down. (Also they called there friends/naibors to look around to see were the car was) the end, and remember trust your gut because I think that lady saved my life :)

He ended up doing something stupid, but not on purpose. My husband's shoe lace loop caught on a guesst (from what I understand they hold sheeting for roofs). Ended up falling 9 feet, and landed on his T 11-12, which compressed it; and spider fractured his T13. The doctor said he was an inch shorter than when he woke up. He now suffers from major back pain and seizures due to his injury. I knew something was off that day.

I have one but first a little context: I'm closeted and have a hand painted pride pin and was wearing on my hat at soccer practice. I felt off at some point and took it off and put it in my bag. After practice my mom picked me up (I usually ride my bike home)

We live in a [insert number of apartments here] apartment and we only had one gate where all of us had to come through. Man, some of the next door apartments would casually leave the gate open (just going to a store nearby, a few walks away from the house) without a care that someone else would pass by and get in. I don't know if you call it paranoid but I can't believe some people would just think it's safe to leave the gate open even for just a second for strangers to come into. Have they even thought that they're inviting someone to get in that would eventually hurt us if they have a weapon?

If I saw a girl looking uncomfortable and someone looking like they were harassing her, i would walk up and instead of pretending like i did know her, asking "hey, do i know you from somewhere? u look really familiar.." that way if it is something serious we can keep talking and i can be like 'wanna go grab coffee and catch up?', and if the woman was actually fine and i just misinterpreted the situation.. well it would look a lot better then 'hey, sarah. u ready to go?'

If I see anyone shady on my doorstep, coming up with some excuse to come inside my house I'm just gonna say "Sorry. Dad said I can't allow anyone into the house while he's busy talking with aunt." So that they know that dad's in the house, aunt's in the house, and there's some pretty messed up stuff going on inside. Also, I feel like it's more believable than just saying "my boyfriend's on a call" or literally anything related to a boyfriend, because 1) there's no way anyone would ever date me and 2) I think it's getting overused so not everyone trusts it anymore.

One time my friend and I were walking at the parking lot because we got lost. This guy started following us. Told my friend and she literally stopped and pat her stomach. She went like "Did I change my tampon? Oh god I didn't! It's overflowing! My period's overflowing!" Both of us don't know how a tampon works and for sure this guy doesn't too. He had this disgusted expression on his face and ran off. Once me and my friend got outside the parking lot we bursted laughing😂
