Idk, imo one of the biggest things holding brighter shores back, from what I've seen, is the lack of a true open world like Runescape. Runescape was one of the open world trail blazers, Brighter Shores seems to be taking a step back in this regard.

How is it a benefit that you have to choose from 1 of 3 classes? in Runescape you can literally be ANYTHING depending on your stats and gear are and you can change on the fly, at any moment. So Runescape offers more freedom by default
@poeskeyАй бұрын
I think this goes back to the original 2001scape. you picked a starting class which boosted certain stats. It wasnt like other games where you had different stats for each class, so I am wondering if it will work the same here as well.
@MMOchAForPrezАй бұрын
@@poeskeyI think a big difference people miss between right now and back when Runescape released is the grind. It was incredibly different. You may not have had "pures" back when RS first came out, but the class system they were trying to use makes a lot of sense when you think about how slowly everyone would progress. You probably had no hope of leveling an account evenly back then. You had to grind a handful of stats because that was rewarding, but you couldn't bare to level them all. So, specialized classes made a lot more sense.
@poeskeyАй бұрын
@MMOchAForPrez the game was much much different back then, worldwide pvp, and the use of level brackets to determine who you could attack, etc. Combat training is extremely important on classic, pures have very specific build paths and training methods, and while you are right, i specifically play a main and dont pvp myself most of our server does and they go to great lengths to make the perfect pure accounts. I think the class system was a holdover from traditional rpgs, and while they didn't really mean anything, besides giving a slight boost to certain stats, it would be interesting how they go about it in brighter shores.

I'm skeptical they're going to make Q3. I really hope they do, because I'm bored of every other game right now and want something to sink my life into. But normally people would give a definite release date when it's only a month until release. It's almost always a better marketing decision to hype it up for a few weeks/months, rather than just dropping it unannounced overnight.

I hope if they release it's VERY late September as I'm away in Turkey on a business trip. I will pay any amount Andrew Gower asks for a game because he is an absolute genius and I know in my heart this game is going to be amazing. From what I've seen so far it takes a lot of Runescape systems and builds on these and only makes them better.
@kibby3164Ай бұрын
The whole there wont be a bot problem in brighter shores because its made part of the game makes 0 fucking sense at all... SURE you'll be able to idle play when you're logged off. That now just becomes part of the game. And if people were to bot they will make more money and more xp than using idle play. Just because you have idle play doesnt mean there wont be bots. I can't believe Andrew is actually pushing this idea. He has to know.. He has to lol
@xaero96Ай бұрын
He doesn't believe that it'll completely fix the bot problem, but it'll sure as hell help a lot. Being able to fully idle will reduce the demand for RWT too. The rest of the bots will be dealed with the same way as anywhere. He probably has systems in place to help with that too. And probably made it impossible to get to actually good money making methods before getting caught.

Runescape has always been a boring game for me (IMO obviously) I think the draw was that you could play it on a potato with a web browsers. It was a lot of peoples first taste of online RPGs. But Brighter Shores does look promising, I'll for sure give it a try.
@plum999oАй бұрын
I can't wait to play, but I'm worried that logging out and still making progress might reduce my feelings of accomplishment. All the current afk methods in osrs, especially something like splashing, make you feel a little bit like you're getting away with something you're not supposed to, or with NMZ at least it's based on the memory of that experience. Just gaining passive exp without doing anything clever yourself might make gameplay feel a bit redundant.
@ChaoticFrost27528 күн бұрын
Loved the video, and i'm excited to try out Brighter Shores. I would like to counter on one of your statements at 9:06. I think the more hardcore you are in the game, the less bots affect you, not the other way 'round as you stated. If you're a hardcore gamer, you are likely doing some more difficult content than >most< bots do (of course in runescape there are some crazy strong pvm bots, but not nearly as many as say, herb farming bots). If you're not a hardcore gamer, you are likely doing easy content which becomes hugely devalued by droves of bots, and it matters more than the small handful that can do leviathan or nightmare.

I think the new OSRS death mechanics are way too kind for no reason, and they were introduced unpolled. It should be 1 minute of in-game time instead of 15 and, if you're late, your gravestone should become available to everyone, while you're logged in, fully disappearing after 2 minutes. This will serve the same purpose as the original mechanics and fix the DDOS issue just as well as the new mechanics. Insane that people like the new death mechanics. will you give an explanation for why the death mechanics should still be like that other than "game too easy"?
@xaero96Ай бұрын
@@Saiyamanmc It's not an integrity thing to change it so much from how it was without a poll. The whole early game is balanced around the fact that you lose your items when you die. The early game areas are extremely safe because of that. They didn't even make death cost 1 gp, it's literally free, not even requiring you to run back, just talk to death (also free). Zero respect for the player. It was also an item sync and created exciting scenarios of randomly encountering someone's lost items. This has nothing to do with "too easy", it's actually just too boring. The game used to be way more exciting from the moment you join. The game was not "harder" but you could actually win/lose.
