Tried this recipe, and the outcome was delish!! For anyone making this recipe who sucks at flipping things (like me), you can drop a plate on top of the unflupped okonomiyaki. Turn it over onto the plate so its facing cooked-side up. You can use the same method with another plate to turn it cooked-side down. Then rest the pan on top of the okonomiyaki plate and give it a flip! Makes the process easy, especially with big pancakes.

My aunt uses cabbage as a filling ingredient in lumpia or an ingredient in her pancit. Maybe you can try those.

Do you think it'll be a good combo to use buldak/bbq sauce instead?

I made this today with leftover Napa cabbage and big slices of green onions to make up for the bacon, as I am currently out. It was a wonderful lunch, thank you! Though I am ashamed to admit I could not flip it without it breaking into pieces 😅 Still delicious, though - almost custard-like inside.

That makes me so happy to hear! I always panic a bit right before I flip hahaha. I believe that you can add a bit more flour to the batter if youd like it to stick together more :)

You're rather adroit with them chopsticks, and it's a japanese recipe, so I'm inclined to ask, are you a Japanese American?

Im Korean American but I do have family that was born and raised in Japan! :)
