It misses some warning about respecting the polarity. If the battery are connected in series, they are shorted together and can have a thermal runaway and possibly burning down the house.

Thank you for your important comment. This was explained in the video, where we emphasized the importance of connecting the positive to the positive and the negative to the negative to avoid issues such as short circuits.

There is a reason for why the charger won't charge a battery pack that is overdischarged. These can, in the worst case, burst up in flames. Guys dont cheap out on li-ion batteries. Your house may burn down. @BackeB Explanation: the "bad" pack is overdischarged and this person uses another battery do give it a little charge so its no longer "overdischarged" and then the makita charger accepts it. The "bad" battery is still in a very bad shape after being overdischarged and "revived".

You can safely do it outside and if it works then it is good enough even for a short period of time until you get a replacement battery like a pinch situation where you need another battery to finish your work....

Thanks for the important warning! It’s always best to handle lithium-ion batteries with caution to avoid risks.

It's always best when working with electricity to have all the wires the same colour. This ensures that the most fun is possible.

What’s the explanation for this? The output from a fresh battery can kickstart the bad one whilst the charger can’t?
@neutronstorm7 күн бұрын
Basically yes. If the battery is totally flat, the charger detects that it would not be safe to charge. By connecting the batteries in parallel like this you may be able to put enough charge into the bad battery go get the charger to recognise it. Or you may get a fire.

The fresh battery provides just enough voltage to bring the bad battery out of its overdischarged state, allowing the charger to recognize it. However, the charger alone may not provide enough initial voltage to start the charging process for a deeply discharged battery.
